reclegend22Let me guess, right before the Kentucky game? If the rumors surrounding Behanan are really true -- multiple failed drug tests related to cocaine -- then Rick Pitino should be ashamed of himself, in my view. And, personally, I really like Pitino the coach. Behanan's misconduct was enough to get him kicked out of school, and, according to Pitino, he has failed on multiple occasions to adhere to team rules, and he's still on the team? Come on.
Then again, maybe the rumors are not true. It's not an academic-related issue, though. -
Azubuike24It's drugs. There were rumors of it last year. There were multiple rumors of it in the off-season. The other culprit implicated in those rumors was Kevin Ware. Now, they would never go public with it on Ware until he was dismissed. That feel-good story is just too great for the school to not profit on while he's still around.
-
Laley23I thought I read where Pitino said it was "unlikely" he would be back.

He did, kinda. However, it's Rick Pitino...he's never stretched the truth :RpS_mellow:Laley23;1519955 wrote:I thought I read where Pitino said it was "unlikely" he would be back. -

Based on Pitino's comments in recent days, though, that seems unlikely. He told ESPN today that Chane got himself kicked off the team and it will only be Chane who can get himself back on. That was today. The kid is kicked out of school right now for coke. He'll be back by the UK game. Mark it down. Pitiful. -

reclegend22^Great move by NW head coach Chris Collins. Because it's the right thing to do. Unfortunately, there are coaches out there that don't really care about honoring commitments and doing what's right.

If there is a scholarship(s) available, most coaches put their players on it.reclegend22;1522416 wrote:^Great move by NW head coach Chris Collins. Because it's the right thing to do. Unfortunately, there are coaches out there that don't really care about honoring commitments and doing what's right.
But as a walk-on, if the coach has 13 guys on scholarship, no way should you expect one just for working hard.
That said, good move. -
Azubuike24It's not this year, but UTEP and Kentucky have scheduled a game in 2016 to mark the 50th anniversary of the famous 1966 Glory Road title game. The game will likely be on Martin Luther King Jr. Day and will likely be at Comcast Center in Maryland. The original game was at Cole Fieldhouse in College Park.

reclegend22Missouri head coach Frank Haith has been given a five-game suspension by the NCAA for his involvement in the Nevin Shapiro scandal at Miami. Great news for Missouri. Bad news for Miami and Jim Larranaga, who will lose three scholarships, one a season for the next three seasons.
From the ESPN report:
The NCAA released the findings of its investigation into Shapiro's relationship with Miami athletics Tuesday. It found that Haith and an assistant coach provided Shapiro $10,000 after he threatened to expose previous improper contact with high school recruits and amateur coaches ... The NCAA also found that Haith helped his assistant pay off Shapiro's mother. -

Heretic
Elsewhere in "News That Surprises No One"...
I honestly wonder if anyone anywhere really thought Pitino was serious when talking about how tough it would be for his key player to work his way back into good graces. -
reclegend22The fact that Pitino recently fathered a fetus with a stranger in a restaurant that he had to have aborted is enough cause for concern that the magnet in Pitino's moral compass might not be working.

Azubuike24Watching tonight's scrimmage, James Young looks incredible. Better than Randle.
Alex Poythress? Not so much. Heck, I'm not even sure he's going to be much more than a role player for UK. -
GOONx19
Marcus Lee also impressed me. Not so much for this year, but he'll be a great player to have down the road. Willie looked ready to take over the shot blocking role, as well.Azubuike24;1525839 wrote:Watching tonight's scrimmage, James Young looks incredible. Better than Randle.

reclegend22Who will be filling the Kyle Wiltjer role for UK? He averaged 10 points a game as a shooting specialist for the Wildcats a year ago.
-
Azubuike24James Young, Aaron Harrison, Alex Poythress and Derek Willis. The more I watch this team, the more I think outside shooting will be a strength.
Wiltjer won't be missed a lick I don't think. -
reclegend22
Well, I guess that settles that. Ha.Azubuike24;1525983 wrote:James Young, Aaron Harrison, Alex Poythress and Derek Willis. -
Azubuike24Watched some of the Louisville exhibition the other night. Deeper team than a year ago and I hate to say it, but they "flow" better without Siva and Dieng. Chris Jones and Montrezl Harrell are going to be upgrades and it may not take long to show it. They are going to be a tough out, even though the new foul rules will kill them and their style isn't going to be as effective this season.
Watched the UK game tonight. Andrew Harrison was out and it's amazing how much they don't need him. Randle, Young and Aaron Harrison can easily run the offense. Randle, well, there isn't anything he can't do. James Young, same thing. Already they run the floor and have better spacing than a year ago. There's very little attitude and it's already all business.
They might have some downs, but there won't be in-fighting and internal conflicts like last year. Also, legit 11 deep if they want to be.
