College Basketball Random Chatter 2013-2014 Season

reclegend22Iowa State wins on a game-clinching three with under 25 seconds to go. Fantastic finish. Iowa State's first win in Gallagher since the Eighties.
Oklahoma State's decline continues. Cowboys have now lost 4 of 5 overall and fall to 4-5 in the Big XII. The Cyclones just scored at will most of the night. Oklahoma State's defense is alarmingly underwhelming. They've got the opposite problem that Cincinnati has. A surfeit of scoring and minimal guarding. I can't see them going anywhere in March. -

More interesting, at least to me, is that according to Yahoo's mock tournament I read yesterday, the Bucks are down to a #10, which means they're pretty much on the bubble and have a good bit of work to do to make the tournament. Don't know how their mock compares to others like Lunardi's, but since they were a #6 shortly before the PSU loss, that's a pretty big fall.Fly4Fun;1575861 wrote:Both OSU and Wisconsin dropped out of AP top 25. I thought OSU might stay with the win at Wisconsin, but I guess everyone is down on both teams. What is interesting though is that Wisconsin still received more votes than OSU. -

They're still top 20 rpi and have a top 20 sos. I doubt they'd be a 10 seed.Heretic;1576160 wrote:More interesting, at least to me, is that according to Yahoo's mock tournament I read yesterday, the Bucks are down to a #10, which means they're pretty much on the bubble and have a good bit of work to do to make the tournament. wildcats20Lunardi has the Bucks as an 8 and their stock dropping. So a 10, while low, isn't too far off. Can't afford another loss to a mediocre/bad team.

Such an awesome game. Deandre Kane is a fucking boss. Not sure his final stats but in ot he had 26,9 and 9.reclegend22;1576058 wrote:Iowa State just sank a three to send the game to triple overtime in Gallagher-Iba Arena.
One of the best games of the year. Whew. -
reclegend22A lot of people don't like Kane for whatever reason, but I agree, dude is great. Marcus Smart attempted to go mano a mano with Kane -- talking major shit -- and Kane just destroyed him on his own court. I like Smart, but it's increasingly clear that he made the wrong decision to return. He came back to win it all, and it just isn't going to happen. OK State won't make it beyond the first weekend.
Kane, Ejim and Niang is as good a trio as there is in college basketball. These guys are fun to watch. -

Seems the main thing Smart accomplished by coming back is to gradually annoy college basketball fans with his habit of flopping worse than a European soccer player.reclegend22;1576232 wrote:A lot of people don't like Kane for whatever reason, but I agree, dude is great. I was actually screaming at the television after that flop at mid-court against Kane. Smart deserves a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for that performance. As far as actual basketball is concerned, Smart deserved to be tossed from the game for, as Bill Walton likes to say, committing a crime against the spirit of competitive athletics.Heretic;1576234 wrote:Seems the main thing Smart accomplished by coming back is to gradually annoy college basketball fans with his habit of flopping worse than a European soccer player.
Smart is on a sinking ship and I think he knows it. -
Azubuike24All Smart did was delay his payment. He didn't necessarily hurt his stock. He is still going to be picked in the top 5-10 because the PG draft is somewhat weak. That may even mean a better situation for him in the pros. However, if I'm him, I'd much rather be in year 1 of my rookie contract than toiling at OSU with a team that isn't getting past the Sweet 16.

MulvaI think Wichita goes down tonight. It's due. And Indiana State is pretty solid.

I was pissed. Indiana State is ONLY +4. I was expecting it to be a little higher then that. I wanted to lay down some decent money on it, but at +4, I probably wont. Ill probably lay down less, and take the ML for around the same payout...Mulva;1576739 wrote:I think Wichita goes down tonight. It's due. And Indiana State is pretty solid. -
SportsAndLadyI like Wichita state tonight, big. They're just a better team.
-
Azubuike243 of their last 5 games, they have gotten down 15+ in the first half only to come back and win. Do this on the road against ISU, they might lose.
-
Ironman92WSU by 14+
-
MulvaSo Bobby Portis has 29 of Arkansas 39 points right now. He's 12/15 shooting. Rest of the team is 2/30.
-
reclegend22Indiana State within two points of Wichita State with two minutes to play. Good second half.
-
MulvaGood game in general. Shockers going to get the W.
-
reclegend22The Sycamores really killed themselves at the line at the end. Left a lot of free points there.
But Wichita survives and continues its season unscathed. -
Ironman92Pretty well contested but SDSU drills a 3 to avoid the upset
-
MulvaTough loss for Boise State. UNLV loses by 18 to Colorado State. Minnesota loses at Purdue in 3OT. Cal loses at home to Stanford. Tennessee loses at Vandy. Bubble is gonna be a dandy.
-
reclegend22Boise State was shooting above 60% through about the 10-minute mark of the second half, building a double-digit lead, and then the wheels fell off.
San Diego State, despite Josh Davis being hampered with injuries, battles back for the W on the road. This is a gritty, dogged team that just plays a brand of defense that finally catches up to you in the end. -
reclegend22UNLV might not even be a bubble team when it's all said and done. Not sure which team, UNLV or Baylor, does less with its talent. It's a toss up.
-
reclegend22"I'm amazed with how many articles of clothing Jason Calliste is wearing. It's like he's dressed for an outdoor expedition in the Pacific Northwest. Maybe to get to the top of Three Sisters or Mount Bachelor."
Bill Walton in the Oregon-Arizona game. Lol. -
reclegend22Oklahoma State loses the game in the final seconds after a technical foul is called on Marcus Smart for striking an elderly fan in the stands. Yikes. Oklahoma State falls to 4-6 in the Big XII and one step closer to the NCAA bubble. Feel bad for Smart. He's a likable kid, especially for coming back to college. But tonight's events are a sign that he and his teammates are in desperation mode. They've completely lost it.
-
Laley23Fat older white guy in Texas...I'm guessing Smart doesn't like to be called a ******. That said, can't be pushing fans.
