  I def believe it happens, but I have my doubts that a star linebacker from a major university could be duped....I mean, he can get ***** that most of us could only dream of. Who knows though.

  For me, if true, this changes things drastically. The only difference, and it is a difference and technically a lie, she was a he. Love of his life, etc. may all still be true along with actually meeting, dying of cancer, etc. Of course, Swarbrick is on TV right now saying that it was a hoax and Te'o got duped. Who the hell knows.

  I think it could happen, yes, but not for the length of time that this has gone on, not for phone calls every night for months, not a faked death. I'm sorry, maybe there are people out there that this could happen to, I just don't buy that it could last this long on this scale. Maybe it did and maybe I'm wrong, if in the end he really was catfished I will fully admit I am wrong, but I just don't see how a college aged guy as smart as he seems could fall for something like this.

  If he was in on this and it was done for publicity....fuck him. I honestly can't believe in "good guys" in sports anymore. If you're cheering for a team, any team, there are degenerates on it. Just come to terms with that and enjoy sports for what they are....entertainment. Even the seemingly "good" guys.....Te'o, Lance Armstrong, JoePa, Tressel, Tiger, etc........are fucked up. SMH

  I have only told maybe 2 people about this because it sounds freaking crazy, but I've had a friend I met online for about 13 years now that I met in middle school. She lives in Chicago and we met when AIM was huge and started talking every day. We never got involved like Manti claims he did with this girl and never arranged to meet, but I was 13 and if she hadn't been real I just think I'm sure I would have caught it at some point. That may be a bad comparison, but I at least have somewhat been in a situation like Manti and I know 100% she's real now(still never met though, I know, weird), but if she hadn't been I'd think I would have caught on.

  Happens all the time. Heck, that's what 99% of forums like this are. Anonymous. The real detail missing is that he claims to have been madly in-love and that their relationship was a great inspiration on everything he did.
