T'eo's girlfriend death a hoax?

You can't assume that everything will go the way of Sullivan or the rape victims that got swept under the rug (allegedly) if you're going to progressively engage the situation. The way they handled it was entirely indicative of a pattern of deceit, that is well documented...business as usual.

Put the situation on another university and tell me you would veiw it differently
Put it on another university and I would say the same thing...the kid is stupid and a chump, but it is in no way the school's fault.

And you honestly think that any school would break that news to announce they are doing an investigation right before the NC game? Look at the circus this caused...no school would want that before the game.

And his do you know what type of investigation the school did? Clearly they did enough of one to come to the same conclusion that just about everyone as come to. So what do you know about the investigation that they did that we don't.

That they should have done it prior to spouting off? Just a guess.

ND screwed up by involving themselves in this in the first place. Couple that with their AD crying on national television and you can see why only blind ND homers defend this entire situation. Delusional and defiant until the end; this is nothing but another black eye on the University and Te'o.

Thanks for proving my point. ND says something, and those that don't like the school say they look bad for getting involved. Don't say anything and guys like ytownfootball say they look bad for leaving Te'o out to dry.

Hate on fellas. This is one thing you can't pin on ND. Other than saying "well Te'o went there so it's a poor reflection on the school." But I don't know what school would ask a kid when they are offering him a scholarship, "hey, you're not some kind of weirdo that thinks he's madly in love with a chick you talk to on the internet, are you?"

ND can't win because ND is in the wrong. Not a hard concept.

They're in the wrong for having a presser announcing that their star player wasn't behind the hoax?

    Weird.

Jenkins wrote that Notre Dame officials talked in the hours after hearing from Te’o on Dec. 26 and agreed there was no indication of a crime or student conduct code violation. Athletic director Jack Swarbrick spoke with Te’o the next day, and on Dec. 28 the school concluded there were no indications of an NCAA rules violation
On Jan. 2, after several days of internal discussion and a week after Te’o's disclosure, Notre Dame retained Stroz Friedberg, a New York computer forensics firm to investigate the case and whether any other football players had been targeted.
That the university ended up hiring one of the leading firms in digital forensics and cybercrimes should end any of the outrage that emanated from certain media outlets, who characterized the investigation as something akin to keystone cops, with criticism coming rather loudly from those who questioned the tactics used by the independent investigators.
Yet it took just two days for the investigators to come to the conclusion that Te’o was indeed the victim of the hoax, and that it presented no threat to the school. Combine that with the fact that Te’o had hired Creative Artists Agency to represent him, and Jenkins told the board the school “concluded that this matter was personal to Manti.”

I'm guessing Stroz Friedberg did more than just a few google searches and gave more than a half ass, bullshit effort. I'd also guess they actually did fucking investigate. Sorry, man.

What's the difference between Alabama and Notre Dame?

I said it earlier on this thread and agree with those saying it now....I don't see any issue with ND not going public with this a couple days before the BCS title game. It would have been an absolute circus and huge distraction. Also agree with sherm's "damned if ya' do, damned if ya' don't" sentiment. Just as ND can do no wrong in some people's eyes...they can do nothing right in the eyes of others. To shift all blame from Te'o to the university is pretty ridiculous.

Maybe the university could have handled it a little better in some way but Te'o needed to handle it much better in just about every way and failed to do so.

Honest question, and I preface with saying I haven't read all the latest comments above. But what is there for ND to "investigate"? What rules were broken that they needed to be concerned with?

nothing, as Swarbrick said in his presser and then Jenkins said in his letter to the BoT, ND determined there wasn't a crime committed and there were no NCAA violations, which ends Notre Dame's involvement.

Can't this thing just go away? There's gotta' be something else out there to bang on, 'cause this thing's been beaten to death.

I agree. It's bazarre, and Te'o looks foolish. But nothing else to see now.

Te'o came off as a complete dumbass in that interview. He actually went to school at ND? LMAO

He went to school at ND to play football first and foremost, I'd guess. Much like that one ND fan here who always was talking about how he went to OSU and how stupid the players there are because they'd be asking him to do their papers and stuff...I'd guess Te'o would be along those lines of being a great player who is dumb as a rock, assuming he was fooled by all this for any notable amount of time.

It happens every where. There might be some smart kids on a football team (i.e. Craig Krenzel), but every school makes certain exceptions for kids with talent but not the brains necessarily required.

I went to school with Brady Quinn for a few years, there is no way he would sniff ND if it wasn't for his arm.

There are smart kids on teams, dumb kids on teams, well behaved kids on teams, trouble makers as well. Anyone who thinks their school's football program is somehow different and perfect is deluding themselves.

That would be sjmvfscs(?), who I don't think has been on here since the NC game. Imagine that.

lol glad you're capable of proving Quinn's academic level by going to school with him. Some of the seeming dumbest girls in my HS had some of the best grades. Book smart doesn't always equal intelligence.

You going to say you tell how much money someone has based on their car next?

You most certainly can tell how smart someone is by being around them all the time. You're trying to hard to troll Fly4Fun now.

Yeah, but let's be real here fly4fun was not around brady quinn all the time. I would provide my thoughts on why that is unrealistic, but I am sure he is itching to find a reason to ban me.
