i still say he goes in first round or very early second round too much value to pass up...look at burfect for bengals didnt even get drafted started 15-16 games for them how many teams are kicking themselves for overthinking that situation

And that slide has much more to do with him getting bowled over in the title game and little to do with this hoax.
Eh, ESPN was reporting that "their experts" so Todd McShay had him going 8th before the news broke.

So if I understand the ND nuthuggers, his performance last week was piss poor but he was still a lock for top ten. Then he kills his fake girlfriend and the draft stock slides, but its because he was a piss poor linebacker for 60 minutes even though he was the best player ever all other times.

Wow, just read Thamel's column at CNNSI. That guy might be the worst journalist in the history of media. You don't question that a guy doesn't know if his "love of his life" graduated one year or two years ago - you don't follow up when he's uncertain about what she studied. You don't take 3 minutes to call Stanford? CNNSI should be ashamed.

Was this in reference to my posts? I never said he was still a lock for a top ten pick after the NC game. I said to my buddy at the bar at halftime that Te'o's stock was going to hurt.

Pete Thamel is fucking stupid. A hack.

I would LOVE to know what sjmvasjlksd has to say on this situation. He is always saying how OSU players are pieces of shit, but ND players arent. Not surprised he is in hiding.

Coming up on David Letterman is his top 10 list. Top 10 signs you have an imaginary girlfriend.

so you didn't read the column?

Of course I read the column. That's why I posted. Thamel should be fired. He tried to cover up an embarrassing inability to even do a bit of investigative journalism and figure out that a woman:

    1) Graduated from Stanford (not sure what year)

    2) Was hit by a drunk driver

    3) Died from leukemia

And wasn't even mentioned in a Stanford University student newspaper, because he checked Lexis Nexis and didn't find an article?

This is the dumbest piece of journalism ever IMO. How in the world in 2012 can you not even find a Facebook, Twitter, whatever about a Stanford graduate and think "ok, that's normal"?

Sports Illustrated should be ashamed. I think of all of the people involved Te'o is the least culpable. He may have been duped, but our media can't do a single 3 second google search?

you said that Thamel didn't contact Stanford. He clearly talks about who he talked to, what the guy told him, and why he didn't use the Stanford connection in the story.
  • Manhattan Buckeye
He contacted the assistant AD, not the registrar, or even the Secretary to the registrar. That isn't contacting Stanford. My wife and I went to college before the internet and even then any moron could find out that we were registered there. Why would Thamel contact the assistant AD, who the hell is he?
  • Manhattan Buckeye
One more thing, he screwed up so much why do we believe him now? His reputation is gone, like Te'o's.

Disagree. For every time it goes this way, there are far more where "character matters" is proven true.

Maybe foe a QB, but not a line backer. They want crazy.
