    I think the whole situation is hilarious and just shows Te'o to be just another completely retarded athlete regardless. But I did agree with something that Mike Greenberg said this morning. The thing that makes it somewhat believable is that Te'o has the full backing of the ND AD. No way does that guy come out in full support with all the publicity and money involved with that university...if they didn't truly believe that Te'o was duped.

    I still have my doubts and honestly don't care...I don't get attached to players like some on here.

    I don't believe that at all. The university stands to gain a lot with him, no way they don't back him.

    Do they now that he is gone? I still think he was in on it, but I thought that sounded like a plausible explanation

    Also, Golic was supposed to be in at 8am...I missed it, but I would have liked to hear his take on it.

    Said pretty much the same stuff as everyone, will need to hear more questions answered. Agreed that Swarbrick wouldn't have come out that strongly unless he had some information that would back Te'o.

    Jerry Sandusky had the full backing of the Penn St. President (Graham Spanier) for months - at some point people need to question the motives of our top managers and administrators, whether it is government, work, investments, etc. Now perhaps there was some level of "dupage" (if that is a word) involved in this situation, but just because a figurehead says something doesn't mean it is correct, and certainly we should take note of what stakes they have in the matter.

    Good point. I guess I just assume that these big wigs do a lot of research/investigation before they put themselves out there in the spotlight. Not always the case I guess...

    Just because he's gone doesn't mean he couldn't be used by ND PR. I think there is too much to lose for them not to back him and with out all the facts it would look bad if if they didn't back him and then it came out that Te'o really was duped.

    It's a win win for them - if it comes out that he lied they can always say they gave him the benefit of the doubt and trusted him, if turns out he's in the clear they look good for never waivering in their support.

    Good chance ND wasn't prepared to have a press conference last night. So, they went with the information they were told by Te'o and what they have gotten to this point through the investigation. Three weeks isn't long enough to do a full fledged investigation. ND won't release the findings, which makes it even more shady. My guess, they're taking a flyer on Te'o, and hoping the truth is being told. If it turns out he lied, they can always claim they were duped by this elaborate scheme.

    Likely the case. Ideally the media will just drop the story. After all the initial story was a fake, what's the use in pushing it? I'm not sure what positive will come from it. Let the guy play football.
