Notre Dame 2013
-
karen lotzFinally time to look forward to next year after a season that exceeded pretty much everyone's expectations.
Gone from the 12-1 team will be Tyler Eifert, C Braxston Cave, RG Mike Golic Jr, RB Theo Riddick, DE Kapron Lewis-Moore, Manti Te'o, and Zeke Motta as far as starters go.
Just saw that Jamoris Slaughter has been approved for a 6th year, which would be a huge boost for what will still be a young secondary. -
sammyjoMaybe ND won't be so darned overrated in 2013.

Definitely exceeded expectations. The loss last night leaves a bitter taste in your mouth though. Losing some key guys and that will obviously hurt but you have to figure Golson will be better and that will be big IMO. TE's have just stepped up and taken the baton so I'm hoping and thinking that there won't be a huge drop off there if Troy makes some progress. Returning a lot of very good and experienced players so I expect them to compete for a BCS Bowl but they won't go undefeated again. 10-2 and a BCS Bowl win would be a success in 2013 as far as I'm concerned. -
Crimson streakIt will definitely be interesting to see what cierre wood does. If he stays he will get alot of carries along with Atkinson and possibly incoming freshman Greg Bryant. I expect to see Farley slide over and take over mottas spot unless shumate steps up. Te'o and klm will be hard to replace but Sheldon day has played well all year and should fill in nicely. I also expect calabrese and fox to be back and thank goodness golic is gone.

karen lotzI think as long as Austin Collinsworth is healthy, he'll start at safety opposite Slaughter. Farley will be a good guy to have for a rotation with his experience this year. Shumate and Redfield should be in the mix too.

WebFireBrian Kelly interviewing with the Philadelphia Eagles. Interesting.

Pick6ND in panic mode. Doesnt surprise me that scum would bail to the NFL first chance he gets.

You'll have a point if he actually leaves. I seriously doubt that he does. I don't see the harm in interviewing for an NFL job. Bill O'Brien did too but he's staying put. Is he scum too? -

After he went out of his way to say he wasn't interested down in Miami (as he really wasn't even asked), it looks bad that he's even interviewingkiller_ewok;1362194 wrote:You'll have a point if he actually leaves. I actually have a lot of respect for O'Brien and the situation he is taking on.killer_ewok;1362194 wrote:You'll have a point if he actually leaves. I seriously doubt that he does. I don't see the harm in interviewing for an NFL job. Bill O'Brien did too but he's staying put. Is he scum too?
BK on the other hand has a history of being a piece of shit bailing on teams. I heard he is interviewing with the Bears as well. "I have the best job in the country"
Brian Kelly says leaving Notre Dame "isn't an option."
"Leaving is not an option. I don't even think about it,"
He is a POS liar. Thought it before he was at ND, and will think the same after. -

Bill O'Brien said and did the same thing. I don't see the harm in it. Might get your current employer to give you more $$$ and you get the experience of interviewing for an NFL HC job if you decide to go that route in the future. I don't know, it just doesn't bother me. -

You know how many coaches do that same thing? Also, O'Brien said he wasn't interested in other jobs and planned on staying at PSU but went on an interview or two. A lot of these coaches are damned if they do and damned if they don't. I saw that some were pissed that Chip Kelly went back to Oregon. -
Pick6^^ what will your opinion be if he ends up bolting?

why dodge the question? my opinion will not change on the guy. Interviewing after the comments he made is dirty to me.killer_ewok;1362212 wrote:What will your opinion be if he doesn't? -

My opinion....."shocked" isn't an opinion but that is what I will be. I think it's extremely unlikely it happens. If I thought I could get more money out of my employer by interviewing for another job...I would. That's what I think this is all about. I obviously wouldn't be happy if he left but again, I don't think he has any desire to leave, just doing this for contract leverage. Can't blame him. A lot of coaches do it. -

Didn't dodge it. Was responding to it before I even saw this post. Wanted to ask you the same thing though so I did. I don't understand how you can respect Bill O'Brien doing the same thing that Kelly is doing but Kelly is lying scum. Same damn thing. Say you're not going anywhere and then interview for NFL jobs. -

Spoke with one NFL source that thinks this is a standard negotiating tactic. Heard that ND and Kelly's agent were already talking new deal. -

fair enough. Would you think lesser of him?killer_ewok;1362216 wrote:My opinion....."shocked" isn't an opinion but that is what I will be. I think it's extremely unlikely it happens. I get what you are saying, and it is the norm in college football. I dont really understand why coaches just dont go and ask instead of using these tactics. -

lol, he wasn't asked? it was the first question asked at his first media interview in Miami. he also didn't say he wasn't interested. he said something along the lines of "you never know". -

He said...
“For me to say I’ll never coach in the NFL — I have no idea,” Kelly said on Friday. “I’m not trying to be evasive. It’s the truth of the matter. It’s all about timing.” -

If he left...I think I would be very disappointed. Not sure I would think lesser of him. I honestly can't say for sure as I honestly don't think he has any intentions of leaving. If he does leave...ask me then and I'll give you an honest answer. -

This is my feelings on it as well.killer_ewok;1362216 wrote:My opinion....."shocked" isn't an opinion but that is what I will be. I think it's extremely unlikely it happens. As a side note, I think the ND job is much more appealing now than it was three years ago. I think that IF he leaves (which I don't think he will), I think ND would have a chance to land a solid coach to replace him. -

Thanks, I'm trying to find the video of it, it was streamed live by the Orange Bowl on youtube and literally the first question was about him being linked to NFL jobs and what his interest in it would be. The quote about leaving not being an option was asked later in the day after practice if I recall correctly.
If he leaves, I think shocked would be the right word. I don't think he will leave, but who knows. His parents and his wife's parents both moved to South Bend after not moving for any of his other jobs. That would lead me to believe Notre Dame is not just a step stone job to the NFL, especially after 3 years.
