Ohio State Buckeyes Thread

vball10setI have an issue with some of our "fans" on this too, Webbie, but as you may or may not know, I've always been in his corner. I'm just glad he was able to vindicate himself after those last few minutes of the game, 'cause those same "fans" would've been hatin' on him big time.

Pretty sure I've been the hardest on Craft out of anyone on here, and I was fit to be tied there at the end when he was trying to be the man. I've seen him do that too many times and fail, but it was great to see him succeed. He's been playing very well for the last month so hopefully it continues. Scott has turned out to be a very good player though and deserves minutes, but those 2 need to play together. -
lhslep134when the bracket came out I didn't know if I’d feel conflicted if OSU played Arizona...
I definitely don't, my heart is 100% scarlet and gray on Thursday -

With all due respect, I just don't understand the "seen him do that too many times and fail" when trying to "be the man". I'm assuming you're referring to the game against tsun, and quite frankly, it was the right play and he was fouled-it just wasn't called. He's the point guard, so the ball needs to be in his hands at crunch time, and the decision is his on whether to dish or shoot.Terry_Tate;1414115 wrote:Pretty sure I've been the hardest on Craft out of anyone on here, and I was fit to be tied there at the end when he was trying to be the man. Also, I'm assuming that your being "fit to be tied" means if he doesn't make the shot there, you're all over him, right? However, he makes the shot, and it's great to see him succeed...I just don't get it.

Crimson streakCraft is the heart and soul of Ohio st. When he is hitting shots it takes Ohio st to a whole another level as you can see the last month. I don't understand some of the hate towards him

I did think you were being hard on Craft earlier in the season, but I don't think it's fair now to say you were wrong because I agree Craft has absolutely picked up his play at the end of the season and had he been playing like this all along I doubt you would have said a thing.Terry_Tate;1414115 wrote:Pretty sure I've been the hardest on Craft out of anyone on here, and I was fit to be tied there at the end when he was trying to be the man. I think the hate is there because he is not a scorer like Burke. I would take Craft any day of the week. No disrespect to Burke they are both outstanding players. I just think everyone wants a true scoring PG and with Craft you don't get that.
But then again Craft doesn't need to score 18 a game. Ill take 10 a game with his defense and his playmaking ability. -

I would take Craft over any player in the country. The guy is a winner. :thumbup:Tiger2003;1414246 wrote:I think the hate is there because he is not a scorer like Burke. You know, I honesty think I'd take Craft over Burke after watching this season. I think Burke tries too hard to be the man sometimes, to the detriment of the team. Michigan has guys that can score. I think Michigan will be a better team with Spike running the offense next year. He isn't near the player that Burke is, obviously, but he is smart, and good at the point. And he's not a bad shooter either.Tiger2003;1414246 wrote:I think the hate is there because he is not a scorer like Burke. I would take Craft any day of the week. It wasn't just the last shot against Michigan, he missed the last 3 shots and also had a turnover late. I'm also thinking of Kansas this year, Duke this year, Kansas in the Final Four last year. It's like when it gets that late he wants to be the guy to win it, which I admire the confidence, but know your strengths and weaknesses. His strength is not going one on one and scoring on his defender, it's being a menace defensively, making good passes, and leading the team. I absolutely would have been pissed if he missed that shot because he had no interest in getting the ball to anyone else, he wanted to be the guy. He was missing free throws and missed another layup as well as an 18 footer right before that, so he did go into hero mode which pissed me off. It was all forgiven in one shot, but it won't be the last time it happens, I just hope it's the last time this year. I was happy for him that he made the shot because he's a player you love to have on your team, is a great kid, and does everything right.vball10set;1414127 wrote:With all due respect, I just don't understand the "seen him do that too many times and fail" when trying to "be the man". You're exactly right. Since the ass kicking at Wisconsin Craft is averaging 8.3 shots a game, making 53% of them, scoring 11.7 points per game, and averaging 5.6 assists per game. Before the Wisconsin game he was shooting 39%!!!! His shot selection and flow has been light years better than it was to start the year and I've really enjoyed watching him play. He's great when he's getting other guys involved and picking his spots on offense, not trying to be a scorer like Trey Burke. I love Aaron Craft, I really do, and wouldn't trade him for anyone, but I also am willing to say he has flaws and they can cost the team at times, regardless of all the great things he does. He's got it going on right now and it's a lot of fun, so I hope it continues.FatHobbit;1414167 wrote:I did think you were being hard on Craft earlier in the season, but I don't think it's fair now to say you were wrong because I agree Craft has absolutely picked up his play at the end of the season and had he been playing like this all along I doubt you would have said a thing. -
vball10setI don't know what you're watching, but his strength IS going one on one with a defender, and he's done so consistently throughout his career. Even though his strength is NOT shooting form the outside, that window (the only window, btw) was open yesterday, and he took it. Do you seriously think that if Thomas was open he wouldn't have gotten the ball to him? Watch the replay, Tate, and you'll notice that the other four players were on the other side of the court, as the play was called specifically for Craft. I wonder who called the play? That's right, Coach Matta. Express your opinions all you want, but let's not skew the facts as they happened.
You are correct, everyone has flaws, but the ones you stated aren't Craft's. Sorry, but you're wrong. Dead wrong. -

DT said the play was drawn for him, but he was covered coming off the screen, and a defensive switch left Craft with a mismatch.vball10set;1414435 wrote:I don't know what you're watching, but his strength IS going one on one with a defender, and he's done so consistently throughout his career. exactly.WebFire;1414495 wrote:DT said the play was drawn for him, but he was covered coming off the screen, and a defensive switch left Craft with a mismatch.
And Craft taking the shot is exactly what Matta wanted. Matta will always tell you that he doesn't run plays for specific players, he runs plays to get SOMEONE open and he wants that guy with the good look to take a good shot, no matter who it is.
It has also bitten Matta in the ass, like Buford taking the final shot against UK when Diebler was shooting 57% from 3.
