Thomas couldve gone last year and been a 1st rounder, Id bet good money he is done.reclegend22;1335145 wrote:As for the Buckeyes, just curious, who is the top recruit coming in their class next fall? Any shooters to perhaps help Craft and company out on the wing next year? I imagine that Thomas will have an opportunity to go first round if he continues to play at the rate he has, but I'm not sure on what the likelihood of him leaving is.
They have Marc Loving coming in. Kid out of St. John's up here in Toledo. He is a streaky shooter, but I wouldnt say he is very polished at it. Of course, I have not seen him play yet this year. He did drop like 34 against Detroit Powerhouse, Romulus in an exhibition win.
Funny story (or not so funny) about Marc. I was coaching the 8th Grade basketball team at Maumee Valley and Marc was living with a former assistant coach of mine at Maumee Valley, Lionel Armstead. Armstead was an Emmanuel Christian graduate and former West Virginia player. On of the best, if not the best, players out of the TAAC ever. Well, Lionel, as Marcs legal guardian has Loving playing for the 8th grade team at Emmanuel Christian as a 7th grader. Marc scored 34 of the teams 36 points and we lost 36-35 lol. Only loss on the season. Lionel was ALMOST convinced by Jim Robinson to attend MVCD for high school and play for him. He even took the test to try and get an academic scholarship (I have no idea if he did or not, and dont ant to start that debate). But either way, he ended up at St. Johns and is on his way to OSU. -

That's an interesting story. I wonder where Marc's sidekick (the kid who scored the other two points) ended up. Lol. That reminds me of the time my seventh grade team played against Jake Diebler. I scored seven of my team's nine points in that game. I distinctly remember that because Jake scored 40 of his team's 80. Eighty to nine. So that was a fun day.Laley23;1335204 wrote:Thomas couldve gone last year and been a 1st rounder, Id bet good money he is done.

And Jim Robinson is a great, great coach. The team he had at Lake in 1999, spearheaded by Nick Fitzpatrick, went 19-1 in the regular-season, won the SLL championship and, had it not run into a hot Liberty-Benton team, might have gone all the way to Columbus. That was one hell of a team. -

I figured as much. But I was on Draft Express earlier and saw that their most current mock had Thomas going in the second round at like 35 or something. I didn't think that sounded accurate, though. It is probably dated.Laley23 wrote:Thomas couldve gone last year and been a 1st rounder, Id bet good money he is done. -

I don't think Thomas is a very good NBA prospect. Might not be that far off. He's late first round at best.reclegend22;1335224 wrote:I figured as much. Midstate01I'm pretty sure just about anyone with any experience will dominate Amir Williams. He's very raw still.

Midstate01I think Thomas' game is perfect for the nba. He is a great tweener. Does extremely well on the boards and will hit the open mid range jumper. Plus he doesn't have to be expected to play good d.

I'd agree overall Craft is better offensively, but I feel like Scott has more potential on that end. Craft has played heavy minutes over 2 years now but still has games like the Duke game where he is just not good. Scott seems like more of a facilitator and can get things going for others. Again, I've not seen them much so far this year, that's just what it seems like in the limited amount I've seen so far.
And Williams is very raw, but the only way he'll get better is minutes. I guess I'm just hopeful of the potential of this team, and of Scott, Ross, and Williams in particular. They looked raw against Duke but held their own pretty well. I think with a full season of playing time they can be pretty damn good. -

That's the way it is every year, so no surprise at all. Just getting ready for one helluva B1G schedule.Automatik;1335639 wrote:I just noticed we don't play anyone worth a damn until KU. -
AutomatikGives Matta plenty of time to evaluate. I feel he's still searching for the right lineup/rotation.

vball10setI have a feeling this is one of those seasons where he's constantly tinkering with the lineup. IMO, with Craft, Thomas and Smith, Jr., there are roughly five players who can start in the remaining two spots (Scott, Williams, Ravenel, Thompson and Ross). It'll definitely be a team by committee.

Compared to Turner's last season where we played only 6 guys:laugh:vball10set;1335663 wrote:I have a feeling this is one of those seasons where he's constantly tinkering with the lineup. Yeah and if there's one year I like having only a couple legit challenges in the early season, it's this one. With the Big 10 being rated like it is and Ohio State needing to work with getting guys used to larger roles, it's nice to have a bunch of easier games to get everyone on the same page. You play a murderer's row schedule and you might not have a situation like Saturday where Ross came onto his own and was dominating because he'd probably be more deferential than aggressive and wouldn't be looked at as much.vball10set;1335647 wrote:That's the way it is every year, so no surprise at all. I'll never forget that team. Turner, Lighty, Diebs, Buford, Lauderdale and then Madsen or Zisis. Turner probably had the best season in B1G history that season, I mean he was so dominant and was unreal at the flu game up in Lansing to propel them to a regular season title. He was PG on offense and PF on D and played 40 minutes basically. Unreal college playervball10set;1335841 wrote:touche' -

My favorite was after Turner hit the 3 to put them over Michigan in the B1G tournament and Matta yells at Beilein "there's you're fucking big ten player of the year!"Classyposter58;1336610 wrote:I'll never forget that team.
