B1G 2012

Might be the most incredible thing I have ever heard about him. And I wish I could disagree more than 100%.vball10set;1376901 wrote:I don't see it, Laley, he'll stumble a number of times along the way. IMO, Zeller will continue to improve and it'll be between him and Burke. Oladipo just doesn't seem to have it between the ears all the time.
Seriously? Doesnt have it between the ears? What on earth makes you think that? He is the most well spoken of IUs players. Probably their smartest (classroom wise) of their players. Doesnt have an ego, at all. Plays big in the biggest games. Right there with Craft for best defender in the country (non bigs). Has developed an outside jumper. Quickest wing, imo, in the B1G, with the ball in his hands. I literally dont see what you see at all.
The guy who doesnt have it all the time between the ears is Will Sheehey. Victor is as far from that as there is.
Zeller scored 2 pts versus PSU. I know IU didnt need him, but thats not POY material. He also got OWNED by Nix. Made the 2 winning plays (drive for 2 and took the charge on Payne). But 9 pts, and 6 of those were FTs. Again, not POY material. Not when Victor in the same game is going for 20pts, 7 rebs, 6 stls after a game where he went for 19pts, 6rebs, 5ast, and 3stl. -
se-alumIMO, Zeller isn't close to B1G POY honors. I really expected big things out of him, but he just hasn't seemed to produce at the level most expected. I think it comes down to Burke, Oladipo, and Thomas. It probably goes to the guy on the team that wins the conference.

The way Indiana plays, Zeller isnt utilized the way a 7 footer typically is. He is used almost as often up top with a dribble drive/handoff as he is on the block. HE gets his points from running the floor, which is what IU wants. So, the low point totals dont really bother me, and his rebounding has picked up a LOT since early. But when he does get it on the block, he sometimes takes off balance, bad shots.se-alum;1376931 wrote:IMO, Zeller isn't close to B1G POY honors. But I agree overall. He probably isnt even 1st team all B1G right now (except that he is the only big man worth much), so he is by default. -
vball10setWe'll see, Laley, and I'll go along with se-alum and throw Thomas in there. Burke, Zeller, and Thomas.

vball10setDamn, I can't do it, Laley. I was going to keep stringing you along 'cause I know your feelings on Zeller based on your previous posts, but I can't in good conscience continue to blaspheme myself. After all, you're our resident authority on all things IU, and you know a helluva lot more about the Hoosiers than I.
Burke, Oladipo, Thomas--in that order. -

Goin into the season I thought it was a joke that Zeller was named preseason POY. First off...pre season stuff like that is stupid anyways.....but that is a diff topic.Laley23;1376943 wrote:The way Indiana plays, Zeller isnt utilized the way a 7 footer typically is. Zeller is good. I think that he sticks around for another year as I hear he is on pace to graduate in three years. I think some of the games thsi year prove he isnt ready for the NBA>
Also....IU plays an up tempo style of ball. Sure..he runs the floor well and got some easy buckets early on and looked good running the floor, but when you get to good opponants that stuff doesnt happen as much. For a big man to score alot of points ya gotta do it on loose balls, rebounds and such. To actually pound the ball inside slows the game down to what IU wants to run. They want so slash and finish or kick it out. He has had big games this season, but the better the opponant the less easy stuff he will get.
Last year, and goin into this season, I thought the team went how Watford went. Not anymore. This is Oladipo's team. This team will go as far as he takes them. -

I think he'll do well replacing Hardaway, though THJ will be big shoes to fill. THJ is quicker and goes to the basket more than what Irvin seems to. But I agree I think this kid will be darn good.GOONx19;1377398 wrote:First time I've seen this kid. He looks like a star. -
vball10setI think Hardaway will make a nice pro, he just seems to have an NBA game.

IMO, which is slightly biased, but also usually a bit closer on Indiana recruiting, Irvin is closer to 5* than what he is ranked. He is really freaking good.WebFire;1377434 wrote:I think he'll do well replacing Hardaway, though THJ will be big shoes to fill. THJ is quicker and goes to the basket more than what Irvin seems to. With the big showdown looming on Saturday night, this really wouldn't surprise me.ou1980;1377566 wrote:Huge game tonight with Indiana @ Purdue...Mackey arena will be insane, I'll take Purdue in the upset... -

Me either. But its like UofM-OSU for these schools. There is no overlooking your most hated rival, ever. But this game has never preceded such a huge game following it, so we will see.vball10set;1377590 wrote:With the big showdown looming on Saturday night, this really wouldn't surprise me. -
Terry_TateIndiana takes care of business by 8-10 IMO. Purdue is just simply not talented enough to hang with this Indiana team for 40 minutes.

I'd like to see Purdue take them to about 10 overtimes.Terry_Tate;1377761 wrote:Indiana takes care of business by 8-10 IMO. Purdue is just simply not talented enough to hang with this Indiana team for 40 minutes. -

Fuck, I didn't know that when I made my prediction. Indiana on a buzzer beater by Oladipo. -

ou1980What the heck!!! Dave Jensen calling the play by play?? Are they insane...#3 IU against there arch rival on the road and you don't use your ace?
-
Midstate01Not that it would matter but that was a goaltend at the end of the half. Not even close.

A. It was Dave Revsine, who is really good.ou1980;1378005 wrote:What the heck!!! Dave Jensen calling the play by play?? Are they insane...#3 IU against there arch rival on the road and you don't use your ace?
B. Gus was never announced on the call to my knowledge
C. Gus is the PxP man for the Knicks and thus has I think a 20 game contract per year (maybe less) for BTN games. No way they waste him on a Wednesday night game with an unranked team, no matter if its their rival. -
Laley23Also, that was impressive. I wish IU had that fire every game.
Its great to see Elston back healthy, wouldve been big to have him in the Butler and Wisconsin games. Oh well. Should provide some MUCH needed depth down low when Cody takes a break. -
