I will venture to say that nobody this year will come close to being as good as Kansas, Kentucky or Carolina from last year.
Everyone is going to lose at least 4-5 games. There will be about 20 teams fighting for 1-3 seeds come seeding time. While they aren't "mid-majors", those who like the lesser known teams making noise in the dance will be happy this year. I can see at least half the Sweet 16, or close to it, coming from the non-BCS leagues.
Gonzaga, Memphis, UNLV and many others are all capable of going very far when compared to the other team squads. -
reclegend22Vegas could win the whole thing. I know I keep saying this (half my posts on this thread are about UNLV lol), but I think the Runnin' Rebels are that good. They've got the perfect combination of star power, veteran leadership, shooting and the X-factor in today's game, not only one but a slew of really good transfers from major D-I schools with experience and skill to fill in areas of void. (Vegas has transfers from UConn, Pitt, Mississippi State and USC, with Roscoe Smith and Jelan Kendrick available beginning next year.) Anthony Bennett, the No. 1 power forward in the freshmen class, scored 22 and pulled down 7 in his college debut over the weekend. He's going to be a beast by spring.
The question is, will Dave Rice stay in Sin City if this keeps up? He's a former Rebel and has said he considers the school his dream job. But, when the echoes come calling, if they ever do, you forget things like that. In the meantime, he has turned things around in a hurry in the Thomas & Mack Center and currently fields a roster with four Mickey Ds. Unheard of for a mid-major. -
MulvaUNLV is legit. I put them in my top 10 (maybe top 5) over the summer, I don't remember for sure. I like Memphis over them as a mid-major to get it done in March though. When star power is lacking across the country, give me deep teams and experienced teams. Memphis is both. Poor shooting might do them in though.
Kansas down 8 at half to Chattanooga.
Murray State is spanking Auburn. Isaiah Canaan outscoring the Tigers by himself at halftime (20-19). 45-19 overall score. -
Laley23Memphis is still coached by Josh Pastner. So they have that hurdle to overcome first.
-
reclegend22Pastner can recruit, though. I will give him that. He's done an admirable job following Calipari in that regard. And it's kind of amazing, too. The city of Memphis is Detroit's little brother, with probably a higher chance per citizen of being brutally murdered. Not exactly sunny Gainesville.
A good one shaping up in MSG between Villanova and Purdue in the final minute. The Boilermakers on the ropes after a sizable lead with less than five to go. -
reclegend22Purdue up seven with 90 seconds left. Game tied at 75. Five seconds left.
-
reclegend22BUZZER BEATER NOVA!
-
reclegend22Overtime actually. Shot no good as the clock was at double zeroes. Overtime. Heck of a finish in New York. Nice college basketball capper heading into the weekend.
-
reclegend22Villanova ends the game with a 15-point turnaround in the final 6:30 including overtime to knock off Purdue, 89 to 81.
Purdue looked like five Greg Normans out there. Yikes. -
SportsAndLadyPurdon't is back...they're gonna struggle
KU down 8 at half, don't know what the fuck that was about. But dominated the 2nd half. B-Mac with 25 and 8. Imagine if he was eligible last year.. -
lhslep134My Wildcats looked good last night, Mark Lyons was the best thing that could have happened for us. Brandon Ashley is a stud as well. If Shabazz is out the whole year, I think we'll win the PAC-12.

We talk about and rant about the NCAA all the time. Read this. It doesn't get more ridiculous from both the perspective of a school and the NCAA.
Who suffers? The player. -
Azubuike24Murray State pulled their starters with 9 minutes left in the 2nd half. They led the game by 36 at halftime. Isaiah Canaan had 20 points at halftime...Auburn had 19.
Murray State 79
Auburn 59
Normally, this would be par for the course in Auburn athletics. Crappy basketball. However, with the football team staring an 0-8 SEC season in the face, after they get absolutely beat down by Alabama...the depressive state might reach an all-time high. -
reclegend22Time to bring back Chris Porter.
Hard to believe Auburn was once the No. 1 preseason team in the land. -
Laley23lol, Chris Porter. Blast from the past.

LOL at all of this thanks guys its been a rough Friday haha. But yeah I was just surprised because I thought the college was only good at hockey... and it would be ok if it did suck... can't be any worse than the shitty basketball I watched when I was in college(also D2).SportsAndLady;1320684 wrote:Don't go to a game turtle...it's D2 basketball!
But has anyone ever gone to a game at Vandy? I've always loved their arena and wanted to go to game. Now I'm that only 2 hours away I definitely plan to this year. -

Colorado will be really solid if the freshmen keep playing well. Tad Boyle is a real good coach.Azubuike24;1321632 wrote:Parity continues.

4/18 on free throws is a problem, though. -

It's pretty cool. Avoid the Kentucky and Tennessee games and you can literally drive there, buy tickets (crappy ones for dirt cheap, great ones for average fare) and go watch. It's literally something nobody cares about, outside of a few thousand alumni. The rest of the attendees are students who usually can find something more important to do.Iliketurtles;1321643 wrote:But has anyone ever gone to a game at Vandy? Their home opener this year against Nichols State they had 7,500 fans. Maybe 60% of those actually were at the game. It's rather pathetic for a semi-basketball school to draw so poorly. Vanderbilt is no Kentucky or Arkansas, but they aren't Georgia, South Carolina or Auburn either, at least when it comes to hoops.
If time doesn't matter, December 1st they host Villanova and December 29th they host Butler. The game on the 29th is on a Saturday night during winter break. -
gerb131NC State has a team this year...sleeper team in ACC?
