Every person KU puts on the line for TCU is 40-60% from FT lol

They've been fouling since the 3 min mark

This would/will be a horrendous loss for Kansas. Jesus. TCU is terrible.

I started watching at about the 4 minute mark and that was like 45 minutes ago

TCU football players are going to make so much money selling coke tonight

Seth Davis ‏@SethDavisHoops Can't compare this to a tourney upset. You have to be a good team to make the NCAA tourney. TCU is horrible.

    LOL

    Holy hell Kansas

I have to imagine that this will really do a number on the Jayhawks' chances of getting a one seed in the tournament. Having this loss on your resume will be tough to make an argument if you on the borderline come the end of the year.

Very uncharacteristic loss for a Bill Self team in the Big XII. I wonder if sports is on to something when he said that there might be something "amiss" with the team right now.

Iowa blows another one. Damn I feel bad for them lol

February 23rd Kansas hosts TCU. Everyone, bet that game.

Literally, it could be the worst beatdown in Big XII history.
  • Midstate01
@SethDavisHoops In terms of RPI difference between the teams, TCU's win is the biggest upset in the 20 years I've been tracking numbers.

If anybody on here would know, it'd be S&L. He's gotta' be pissed.

Self was awesome after that game...most coaches (Self does this too) are not very honest after a loss like that. They just kind of go through the motions.

Last night Self said, "That was the worst team Kansas has ever put on the floor."

An honest coach=a pissed off coach.

There is a chemistry issue here, there's no other excuse for playing like that. I do, however, have zero doubt Self will figure it out by NCAA time.

TCU 229, KU 10. Yep, it's basically akin to Penn State (197) beating Indiana (6)

I believe TCU is actually 210, if that makes the loss any less of a blow.

It would be equivalent to Duke (No. 1 RPI) losing to Cal Poly (201), which UCLA did.

As a Duke fan, I can say that at least this wasn't in the tournament. Nobody will remember this loss, especially considering it came against a Big XII foe. Yes, the numbers are crazy when looking at the RPI differential, but Seth Davis is just excited over the upset and it's an interesting subject. Kansas will be fine.

Kansas-TCU being replayed as an "instant classic" on ESPNU right now, if anyone wants to relive that.

The more I look at the numbers, I'm not sure this is the issue. I mean, you obviously know your team and follow them 99 percent more closely than I do, but I think the reason for the loss is much more simple.

Kansas was 3-of-22 shooting from the field in the first half and 0-4 from three. That's 13.6 percent shooting. You are going to lose each and every single time with that kind of performance from the floor. As Bill Self said in his post-game presser, those are Topeka YMCA numbers. Great line by Self, by the way.

A similar occurrence happened to Duke at Miami, when Quinn Cook, Seth Curry and Tyler Thornton shot a combined 1-for-29 from the field in their loss to the Hurricanes. Grisly shooting like that spells disaster.

Simply put, like Duke at Miami, Kansas just played like pure shit.

Which is true, they did play like shit...but its poor shooting when you do it against a top 25 team (Miami) its something else when you do it against one of the worst teams in division 1.

I mean there is ZERO excuse to play so terrible against such terrible competition.

The only thing I can think of for that happening is a little rift amongst the players. It happens

Lets be real. Look at Kansas. They have tons of experience. They have pretty good talent. They have a great coach. However, they don't have a ton of offense. Johnson, Withey, Releford, Young, none are really great offensively, or at least not offense-first players by any means.

The major key, IMO, is that bedsides losing their go-to offensive player from a season ago (Thomas Robinson), the Jayhawks also lost their primary -- and only -- point guard and playmaker in Tyshawn Taylor. Kansas essentially has no point guard this year.

It's basically only McLemore and Releford on offense. If Kansas can get back to playing tough defensively, then the Jayhawks will be a tough out in March with Self at the helm. He's always been more of a defensive-oriented coach. That's where he excels.

Pretty sure they lead the big 12 in fg %

Which means little in the college game. Be honest, you're a fan and have probably seen a majority of their game minutes. From what I've seen, they don't have GREAT offensive talent. Capable, yes, a lot of that is experience and just overall quality of players, but they are capable of struggling to score and if that's the case, they don't have 3 or 4 guys who can absolutely take a game over offensively. Just observation.

Im not necessarily disagreeing my point is a team that leads the conference in fg % shouldn't struggle with the last place team...and they do have players offensively capable of taking over games, just not consistently.
