10/13: #7 Notre Dame def. #17 Stanford, 20-13 (OT)

Still haven't seen the play. But I can't tell from that gif since the POV of the camera isn't straight down the line.

I was listening on the radio on the way to my show. The announcers were from the Stanford feed and they were furious. It made me laugh pretty hard.

Why would ND fans storm the field? You were a double digit favorite.

I don't have a tweet to post for the 9th time, but a former ref on sports center said it was the correct call.

Because it was a big win against a team that has owned them in recent years? Also, pretty sure ND was an 8-point favorite.

You are right. That line started at 10 and ended at 8.

Just like fans of OSU and Miami in 2002, ND fans will say correct call, Stanford fans will say bad call. Also, some refs say correct call, and some refs say incorrect call. ND won, they're 6-0, end of story.

They use Gerry Austin for MNF, was it him? Just curious.

I finally got to see the play. I'll be honest, I can understand why Stanford fans are pissed. It is really close. I can see why they didn't give him the touchdown in real time. And the replays don't show a good enough angle to overturn.

That call could easily have gone either way. It's easy to say it when the call goes your teams' way, but it's the truth. And the bottom line is, Stanford had four plays from inside the Irish 5, and two of those plays from inside the 1. In that type of position, you can't leave doubt. You can't put yourself in a position where it comes down to a call from the officials.

I wouldn't say the call was wrong. But I wouldn't say the call was right. It could have gone either way. And there were going to be people pissed off no matter what happened. I'm just glad that I'm not on the pissed off side.

I love how people talk about this like Stanford was down four to end the game and this would've served Notre Dame a loss. The facts are that Notre Dame was ahead seven points anyway and had Stanford scored somehow there, they would've had to turn around and try to do it again (good luck) with ND taking the advantageous position in the second overtime of having the ball second. Likely story in that case? SAME RESULT

Lol. No. No one will ever know how the game should have ended.

I do not see the runners elbow. I can see why there is not enough evidence to overturn the play. Tough call. Enjoy the rest of your day.

Here are some pretty pictures for people still struggling with the call on 4th down. There are some words too, so hopefully no one gets confused.

Sonofanump...do the side judges normally run in from the sideline and mark a spot without blowing their whistle/signalling forward progress stopped?
