The Michigan Recruiting Thread

For knight and Parker UM is the favorite. Dorsey is FSU/UM/USC with no clear favorite. If they can at least get parker and knight that will be a very good finish for this class. If they get all three that would be an AMAZING finish.
  • pkebker
Scouts ranks this class as #8 while Rivals ranks this #18...why such the big gap?...
  • OldDanTucker
They are usualy pretty even this year rivals seems to base theirs off of 40's, bench, size, etc. more so then actualy game play. I prefer scout usualy anyway
  • Tinkertrain
The chances of Michigan taking all three are slim they'll take two at the most. Demarr Dorsey and Sean Parker being the top 2 choices obviously.

I think they only get 2 (either dorsey and knight/ parker and knight) but if all 3 want to come UM will find a way to make it happen

Any word when they will make decisions or are they waiting until signing day?
  • OneBuckeye
How many scholarships does UM have left in this class?

I know parker is going to announce his on signing day (10a.m. on espn). Im not 100% sure on the other two but I think they are signing day as well.

They have 2 left but if all 3 of these guys want to come they will make room (grey shirt someone most likely)

I see Dorsey going to FSU, which is fine because he might not qualify for Michigan.

btw ODT, rumor has it that one more scholly is going to be freed up because there is a commit who they know isn't going to qualify academically.

And it's now official.. Tony Drake has de-committed and will be going to Colorado State.
  • Tinkertrain
Drake had his scholorship yanked about a month ago for his failure to take the ACT and get his grades in order. He just now took the ACT for the first time last weekend and Michigan rightfully so yanked his ride.

Also Demarr Dorsey would be qualified based on his latest ACT score's. I'm telling ya man you've gotta stop paying for that light weight drivel that rivals put's out and get the real info at gbw.

Tony Drake had his scholly yanked long time ago. The only guy that might not qualify is Antonio Kindard, he still has to pass the science part of the OGT

It appears that Michigan is sitting in strong position for both Demarr Dorsey and Sean Parker. If RR can pull this off he will have addressed the secondary in spectacuar fashion in this class.

    Current Michigan secondary committ's

Cullen Christian 4* # 3 corner per scout
Josh Furman 4* # 7 Safety per scout- 4.36 speed
Marvin Robinson 4* # 18 Safety- Likely headed for the Spinner spot.
Courtney Avery 3* # 34 Corner- Florida made a late push for Courtney to no avail
Terrence Talbot 3* # 107- Corner Missed most of senior year
Carvin Johnson 3* # 79 Safety- Likely headed to Linebacker
Ray Vinopal- 3* # 103 Safety- Long career as a special teamer

Add to that Parker and Dorsey or even just one of them.

    Sean Parker 4* # 6 Safety
Demarr Dorsey 4* # 19 Safety- Electric Athlete you'd see on both sides of the ball.

Whether RichRod is coach in the next few years or not...some coach is going to be very happy with this recruiting class...

Michiganbetter load up on 4 and 5 star talent because RR has had very little success in developing players.

Of all the things to accuse him of, this isn't one of them.

    What's your reasoning for this?

    From Scout.com

The latest on Rashad Knight is: Knight's Rutgers recruiter and recruiting coordinator has suddenly left to take the Bucknell HC job. This race had tightened as his mom reportedly liked the Rutgers visit, so this recent development is potentially sehr-gut. BTW, just because U-M had made its RR-inhome in December doesn't mean U-M has been neglecting him -- assistants (led by Rod Smith) have subsequently made their allowed 6 inhome-inschool visits. Knight may now wait till S-Day to make his decision public, but he's liable to let U-M-n-Rutgers coaching staffs know a day or two earlier.

The latest on Sean Parker is: (refrain) still U-M's sunniest S-Day signee. Well be a leeettle surprised if he picks USC .... but hey, we've been surprised before so we'll all have to wait-n-see together. That said ... still ... (return to refrain)

Demar Dorsey: still 1/3, 1/3, 1/3 ... FSU, U-M, USC ... no prediction until he takes his USC visit ... at this point, U-M is still in it strongly however.

Jake Ryan also has to pass the OGT in order to qualify.
  • Tinkertrain
There are several kid's in this class with Academic issues ( Kinnard, Ryan, Terrence Talbot). Both Kinnard and Ryan are OGT issues and thankfully we wont have to deal with the ogt bullshit for much longer.

The ogt is a joke and will be a joke that's hurt alot of kid's even after it's gone.
  • Pick6
LOL..how can you not pass the OGT.
  • OldDanTucker
^ Ill agree with this it is a very easy test but I could see where if someone who was lazy and not exactly the best student with struggle with certain parts (science being the main one). Im not 100% but pretty sure that is the part that Kinard and ryan are waiting on their scores for. Talbott just had to retake the act

I don't consider 3 guys struggling with academics to be alot out of 26 :)
