The Michigan Recruiting Thread

  • Trueblue23
Austin White, Ricardo Miller, Stephen Hopkins, Jeremy Jackson, Jerald Robinson, Christian Pace, Marvin Robinson, Adriann Witty and possibly Devin Gardner will be enrolling early.
  • Tinkertrain
Adrian Witty will not be at Michigan baring a miracle and it's likely Marvin Robinson will not arrive untill summer. Still up in the air on Devin. Witty ran into trouble with the admission's people and Marvin's high school has apparently decided that he doesnt have enough coursework in to graduate early. Unfortionate on both counts but life will go on.

    What happen with gardner?
  • Trueblue23
ODT, they don't go into details about those things, buuuttt..

    1. He couldn't graduate early
    2. Simply ran out of time.
  • Tinkertrain
For the last time Marvin Robinson IS NOT enrolling early! There were issues with his high school in reguards to the amount of credits needed. He will arrive in the summer.

Any word if we have any more recruits committing to UM anytime soon?

since all you Mich guys are in this thread, I'll ask here. Is OC coach Calvin Magee going to USF ? I heard Tony Dungy met with USF officials encouraging a minority hire and Magee is a leading candidate.

    I think so.

I've heard that Magee is the leading candidate, which is good for him. He's a good guy and deserves all the best.

The staff is taking a little bit of a hit with Hopson (LB coach) leaving for the DC job at memphis. If Magee leaves its rumored that Smith(QBs) will go with him.
  • Tinkertrain
I didnt shed any tear's at the loss of Jay Hopson and I wont shed any tear's over the loss of Magee. Our linebacker play was terrible last year and Magee and Rich Rod were at odd's over what direction to take the offense ie Tate vs. Denard.
  • pkebker
    Why were that 'at odds'?
  • Tinkertrain
Magee favor's a heavier running attack with Denard at qb and Rich Rod preffers the passing ability that Tate gives them.
  • OldDanTucker
I wasnt saying I was heart broken about losing any of them. Just stating that they were losing some of them. Hopson was a good recruiter is the only downfall of losing him.
  • Trueblue23
Now it looks like Magee may stay put, Skip Holtz may be the next coach at USF
  • OldDanTucker
Heard the former Marshall head coach Mark Snyder interviewed for the LB job anyone else hear this?

Just heard that Michigan may offer Brice Everett CB from McKinley soon.

    In stunning news.

At the 11th hour Inkster finally decides to graduate Devin Gardner!!!! After screwing this kid over to the very last possible second they have allowed Devin to graduate and it appears likely that Devin will be at Michigan attending classes come monday! Shame on Inkster for taking this long to do the right thing to a kid that was allready qualified to graduate.

It seems like the recruiting has slowed down a bit...Do we have any more 3-5 star recruits still interested in UM?
  • TBradyfan
Can I finally breathe a sigh of relief that Gardner will be at Michigan this coming week and get a good look at this kid in April at the spring game?

There is still plenty of 3-4 star guys that UM is going after but you never know who will commit where. UM is targeting these lower ranked guys because they are trying to add more depth then anything in this years recruting class. 24 have already commited this season they are wanting to get 27 on signing day.

He will be enrolling next week
  • pkebker
What is the point of targeting lower ranked players? Why would you want to add depth with players that aren't very good?
