Sullinger announces his decision

well to be fair, you are about as biased as it comes with OSU bball. So I don't really take what you have to say about the issue with any real substance.centralbucksfan;1136788 wrote:I am not surprised. Maybe on the all star thing. But in the NBA, you don't see players doubling down often because there are so many other good players on the court, they can't leave and double, triple team. Sullinger had to deal with this every game. Sullinger will have more room to work, face up, etc, etc. And contrary to what many believe, he does have a nice touch shooting the ball. He has good form on this shot facing the basket. Again, I am not saying he will be this and that in the NBA. And it may take him a couple years to develop more. But I think he will do just fine. -

True. Though he may be able to get 10 offensive put backs a game with Ellis and Jennings chucking the ball off the front of the rim 30 times a night.wildcats20;1136768 wrote:Sully will never get any touches in Milwaukee. -
lhslep134Sullinger has a jumper, he's had one since HS.

FatHobbitSad to see him go, but I wish him luck. I will root for him wherever he ends up.

I have no opinion on how Sullinger will do in the NBA, but this guy's opinion - aren't those an awful lot of "IF's"?David Thorpe

We are all entitled to our own opinion. If Sullinger goes to the right team, loses 25 more pounds, and gets super hungry, he's an all-star.
I mean, "if he gets super hungry", what the fuck does that even mean? -
wildcats20I don't see him losing ANOTHER 25 pounds.
I would be willing to bet he put almost all of what he lost in the offseason back on. -
Skyhook79Sullinger will be about as good as Chuck Hayes in the NBA.

He did say Yancy Gates was dominant.centralbucksfan;1136795 wrote:Ahhh, wow, thanks there mr. genius!! -

I don't see him losing that much either. But no way did he put it all back on. Many think him losing his weight actually hurt him this year. Who knows. Its really on Sullinger on how good he can be, wants to be. Which pretty much goes for everyone. There is a reason some guys are all stars, and others arn't. Its all in their work ethic and how bad they want to be THAT good. Jordan/Bird, Magic were all gifted with talent. But they were also known to work MUCH harder than anyone else, thus them turning into GREAT players. Thats what it really comes down to...how bad does someone really want it.wildcats20;1136821 wrote:I don't see him losing ANOTHER 25 pounds.

They double all the time in the NBA, how much NBA do you watch?centralbucksfan;1136788 wrote:I am not surprised. Maybe on the all star thing. Which would make him a complete bust. Love Chuck Hayes but he's in the league purely on heart and will. He's a 6'6 PF that has somehow made very good money. Sullinger is capable of a lot more.Skyhook79;1136822 wrote:Sullinger will be about as good as Chuck Hayes in the NBA.
As for his weight, he needs to gain about 15 pounds...of muscle. He's got like 20% body fat (just a guess) and is nowhere close to having the physique of players with similar size (Thomas Robinson, Terrrence Jones, James McAdoo) who are of very similar, or even inferior skills. -
vball10setJared Sullinger was not only a two-time AA and a member of back-to-back 30 win teams, he was an excellent representative for the OSU basketball program as well as the University...good luck Sully!

That is my point and opinion. I could be wrong.Azubuike24;1136852 wrote:Which would make him a complete bust. Love Chuck Hayes but he's in the league purely on heart and will. He's a 6'6 PF that has somehow made very good money. Sullinger is capable of a lot more.

sportchamppsIf he puts on muscle he could do well. I also think he has a nice shooting touch already but he is also slow and will have trouble guarding someone in the NBA. He is either an undersized 5 or a slow 4.
-
Azubuike24That's true. He can definitely tone up, and that will help a few areas of his game.
However, it's clear his limitations in athleticism are there and won't improve much. -
robj55I'd like to see him end up in Charlotte, play next to Mullens. They need toughness, rebounding and points from the post up game in the paint.

Charlotte is taking one of the 4 (mabye 5) UNC players. Jordan is still their owner.robj55;1136949 wrote:I'd like to see him end up in Charlotte, play next to Mullens. They need toughness, rebounding and points from the post up game in the paint. -

Who doesnt? players that are also quite long and athletic. And of course he had a lot of shots blocked against those 2 teams, i guarantee most of them were by Anthony Davis who is blocking absolutely everyone lolcentralbucksfan;1136771 wrote:And what do you think of Thomas Robinson? I counted in the final four, he had 8 of his shots blocked against OSU/UK combined. I believe Sullinger blocked 2 of his shots. I find it a bit funny how everyone points out how Sully struggles against longer athletic types of players. Who the hell doesn't struggle against those kinds of players? lol -

Those teams you said that aren't in the market for PF's, does that include their PF contract and whether he is a free agent to be or not? Just wondered.2kool4skool;1136766 wrote:The following teams are currently projected to have lottery picks
Charlotte
Washington

Unfortunately for Sullinger; New Orleans, Portland, Cleveland, Sacramento, Charlotte, Utah, Phoenix and Toronto aren't really in the market for PF's.
That leaves Washington, Detroit, and Milwaukee as potential fits. Barring some unlucky bounces of the ping pong balls, Washington should be picking way too high to take Sullinger. Which leaves only Detroit and Milwaukee as realistic destinations.
He would be replacing Illyasova in Milwaukee, who's played well but I'm not sure is NBA starter quality, and Jason Maxiel in Detroit who is complete trash. Both teams have good guard play(Knight and Stuckey in Detroit, Jennings and Ellis in Milwaukee) so hopefully that could help Sullinger out early. -

Just based on their current roster, didn't look into contract situation of their existing PF's, though a lot of them were young guys.sportswizuhrd;1137164 wrote:Those teams you said that aren't in the market for PF's, does that include their PF contract and whether he is a free agent to be or not? sportchamppsI've seen a lot of mocks have him going to sacramento u sure they don't need him
