Sullinger announces his decision
-
Laley23Sully and Robinson close in skills is arguable. They are close.
The one difference, Robinson plays about the rim...with the rest of the NBA. Sulligner play below it. -
wildcats20FWIW....
Jared posted this pic today...

holdingoutI read somewhere Thomas had just became a father. If that is true, his college playing days are over.

wkfanSullinger is going to the NBA.

Tiger2003Yep saw this on ESPN.

AutomatikNot surprised. I wish him luck. I repped the Scarlet n Gray well!
-
robj55Good luck to Sully, he gave us two great seasons at THE Ohio State University. I am one of the few who thinks he will be more than just a role player at the next level.

So does Zach Randolph. I think that's Sully's ceiling, but IMO Sully has the highest floor of any prospect, he's GOING to be a pretty good NBA player at worst. But if you want someone who's ceiling is higher than that you take someone else.Laley23;1136237 wrote:Sully and Robinson close in skills is arguable. They are close.

Let's also not forget Sullinger is going to get professional coaching now. -
Pick6Sullinger will have a solid career in the NBA. Fuck the haters.
-
Laley23
Yeah, I know. Exceptions are everywhere. But if I am drafting I take the guy who has a higher chance at stardom. Zach Randolph also had a lot more post moves, and guard like skills in HS/MSU. But I get what you are saying.lhslep134;1136646 wrote:So does Zach Randolph. KR1245Sad to see him go
I think he will have a solid NBA career as well. -

I think he will have solid career also, but never a "superstar."Hb31187;1136709 wrote:Based on what? Besides your allegiance to OSU
And this has nothing to do with my allegiance to OSU. -

Unless he really develops his jumper I think he will struggle. I could be very wrong, but in college he seemed to get his shot blocked offfften against the longer athletic type players, and thats all the NBA 4 spot is made up of right now.Automatik;1136717 wrote:I think he will have solid career also, but never a "superstar."

sleeperGreat player. Wish him the best.
-
se-alumI'm not really worried about Sully offensively in the NBA, cause I think he can be a very good 15-18ft shooter. My biggest question is who can he guard? He will struggle against the 4's that play on the perimeter.

2kool4skoolThe following teams are currently projected to have lottery picks
Charlotte
Washington
New Orleans(2)
Portland(2)
Toronto
Sacramento
Detroit
Cleveland
Utah(2)
Milwaukee
Phoenix
Unfortunately for Sullinger; New Orleans, Portland, Cleveland, Sacramento, Charlotte, Utah, Phoenix and Toronto aren't really in the market for PF's.
That leaves Washington, Detroit, and Milwaukee as potential fits. Barring some unlucky bounces of the ping pong balls, Washington should be picking way too high to take Sullinger. Which leaves only Detroit and Milwaukee as realistic destinations.
He would be replacing Illyasova in Milwaukee, who's played well but I'm not sure is NBA starter quality, and Jason Maxiel in Detroit who is complete trash. Both teams have good guard play(Knight and Stuckey in Detroit, Jennings and Ellis in Milwaukee) so hopefully that could help Sullinger out early. -
wildcats20Sully will never get any touches in Milwaukee.

Agree. I don't think he will be a star. But I think he will be better than many "experts" on here think he will. I wish him nothing but the best. He has given OSU fans TWO GREAT years. He and his family are a class act.Pick6;1136652 wrote:Sullinger will have a solid career in the NBA. **** the haters. -

And what do you think of Thomas Robinson? I counted in the final four, he had 8 of his shots blocked against OSU/UK combined. I believe Sullinger blocked 2 of his shots. I find it a bit funny how everyone points out how Sully struggles against longer athletic types of players. Who the hell doesn't struggle against those kinds of players? lolHb31187;1136723 wrote:Unless he really develops his jumper I think he will struggle. KR1245From a chat with scout/trainer David Thorpe.
Just one guys opinion, I was pretty surprised though
Jeff (NJ)
I agree on T. Robinson. But Sullinger seems to be trending the other way. If he comes out how much did that Kansas game hurt his stock?

None to my eyes. He has more all-star potential than anyone in the draft after AD.
Matt (Toronto)
Wasn't it deflating to see Withey easily defend Sullinger? I mean, that's not Anthony Davis covering him, but Cole Aldrich 2.0!
David Thorpe

The NBA court is much bigger and more open. In the NBA Sullinger would face him up from 13 feet and blow by him.
Joe (Columbus)
Coach, could you elaborate on Jared Sullinger and what you see in his game? I love watching him and supporting the Buckeyes but I think most people just don't see him translating well to the NBA.
David Thorpe
(12:45 PM)
That's because they see how crowded the college game is and forget how open the NBA one is.
David (St. Louis)
Is it me, or does your opinion on Sullinger differ from most scouts? Not to say he won't be good. But that his upside is limited, according to what I've heard from other NBA sites.

We are all entitled to our own opinion. If Sullinger goes to the right team, loses 25 more pounds, and gets super hungry, he's an all-star. -
centralbucksfan
I am not surprised. Maybe on the all star thing. But in the NBA, you don't see players doubling down often because there are so many other good players on the court, they can't leave and double, triple team. Sullinger had to deal with this every game. Sullinger will have more room to work, face up, etc, etc. And contrary to what many believe, he does have a nice touch shooting the ball. He has good form on this shot facing the basket. Again, I am not saying he will be this and that in the NBA. And it may take him a couple years to develop more. But I think he will do just fine.KR1245;1136786 wrote:From a chat with scout/trainer David Thorpe.

The comment about having more potential than anybody else but AD is the one that surprised me. I agree with everything else
