Lol I understand it's not a "normal" play, but that doesn't make it a fluke play. A fluke play is a KU player throwing the ball off an OSU player's head, and it goes in the hoop for a bucket.

Just because it was almost a block doesn't make it a fluke play. Just because OSU was stupid and didn't hold out for the actual last shot doesn't make it a fluke play.

Probably. But Craft isn't on KU lol (he should be on Duke, for the way he plays...Paulus must be doing work on him)

Why the hate for Aaron Craft?

It will be interesting to see how much both Craft and Scott improve next year.

Okay maybe not "shutting down" but he wasn't a factor in the 2nd half and that was all Taylor. Like I said, I'll take 10 players in college basketball over Craft at the PG position. A hustle player who can't shoot or shoot free throws but plays really good defense isn't what I would take in my point guard. I'll take Taylor and win a national championship.
Craft shot 50% on the year and 92% from the line in the Tourny
  • LJ
Your boy Taylor on the other hand shot 47% and 69% from the line on the season (Craft shot 71%)

Who were you saying can't shoot or shoot free throws?

My issue with Craft's play is he gave himself no chance.

It's a low percentage chance to execute either way you slice it, whether he tries for the tip-in himself or whether he tries to get a long rebound. However, it seemed rushed, and to boot, he commited an obvious violation.

Not only that, it rattled the team, and even with 3 seconds left, OSU didn't even foul.

Certainly other things contributed to the loss, but Craft really didn't play well in the 2nd half. He didn't look for his offense, in a game where Thomas was on the bench and Sullinger either settled for jump shots or was unable to get position against a better front-line. I mentioned in a previous post as well. The possession Thomas returned, I believe OSU was up 1 point, Craft passed up a freed up Thomas on a screen, drove right and got demolished at the rim by both Young and Withey. It was the first time he had attacked the basket since Thomas went out. My question is, why is your 4th best offensive player NOW attacking when the guy in foul trouble, that everyone is blaming the loss on, is on the floor and ready to score?

Once again, what was the other option?

Also, it was supposed to be rushed. That was the whole point.
  • Azubuike24
The other option is to put in your 2 best rebounders, put them in the underneath spot and try for a long rebound or tip out for a game-tying shot. There was 3 seconds left...not 1.

Obviously the intent was to rush it, but if you commit a violation, you give yourself 0% chance. Heady play by Craft, but it was a mistake.

Which I thought was a great move on his part. It just didn't work out. Like anything in that situation, it was a long shot.

You may be right and he does know the rule. But if that's the case, it was an awful attempt to execute his plan. He was in the lane damn close to when the ball left his hands let alone get to the rim lol. I know it was a last ditch effort, and I kind of like the idea, but I'd you do know the uke how can you fuck it up so badly? It really wasn't even close. He was over the line as soon as the ball left his hands!

Couple that with the look of bewilderment he had and then arguing/trying to get an explanation...I dunno, if you know he rule why argue. It wasn't bang bang at all. It was obvious. I didn't know he rule till I went to ref school, so I wouldn't blame him or anyone really for not knowing it.

Agree to disagree on this issue

This brought a loud LOL from me. Well played sir.

I think this will be the key to their season. If the improve they will be ip near the top of the big ten, if not...like 5th IMO. This is also assuming sully and Thomas go pro. I predicted Thomas to Lear before he season, do I might as well stick with it!

NOTE: sorry for misspelled words and grammar. I'm on the shitter on my phone.

As for that play, I liked the idea. But I would've gone for the miss and he oboard. Silly had 6 on the night as it was. Matta didn't have anyone on the line all night, so Withey and trob wouldn't have known any of Sullys moves...

But that's not the issue in the end. It's a blown 13 pt lead and shotting like 2/15 to start the 2nd half

Disappointing loss but anytime you make a final four run you can't be too upset. Kansas deserves a lot of credit for that win. Sure, the Bucks made some mistakes but I don't really think they beat themselves. At halftime I was talking with a friend on the phone about how I wasn't comfortable with the lead at all because I felt like OSU played about as well as they can play in the first half and Kansas played awful and that the two would even out over the second half, which unfortunately happened. Credit KU for stepping up the defensive intensity in the second half, OSU had to work for every bucket they scored. I think that was where they really missed Thomas because even though he wasn't hitting shots (btw his two three point attempts in the last minute were terrible, didn't come in the flow of the offense at all) he still made KU respect his ability to stretch the floor because Robinson was still out defending him on the arc. Withey looks really awkward on offense but his defensive impact was huge. Good luck to KU vs UK, I hope they win.

LMAO @ taking ten players over Craft. A player who was HUGE in taking his team to the final four and pretty much shut down Taylor last nite. 10 players? Last I checked, at least 7 of those were sitting home watching Craft last nite. Craft played a SOLID game. He was far from BAD last nite. And He wasn't great. 11pts from him, I'll take that any day from the PG position on a team that isn't focused on the PG scoring, hasn't been all year. You can sit there and say he shoulda done this and that when he hadn't had to do it for 35+ games.
If anyone deserves any criticism, its Thomas. He had good looks all nite. Then took some poor shots. No one has mentioned the CRUCIAL play near the end on the pass that went through his hands, which resulted in a layup for KU. Then he burped up a bad shot, didn't know the time on the when he chuchked up an even poor shot after that. If anyone wants to point the finger, Thomas was the one that was the biggest disappointment last nite.

Craft is everything Paulus wasn't as a player.Paulus was benched his senior year because his couldn't defend on the perimeter and couldn't stop dribble penetration.

Taylor is more gifted athletically, but Craft is a very good PG and his ability to defend is difficult to measure. He forces turnovers, which not many players do with the consistency that he does.

    Just for fun, read this.

I agree with most of this. Kansas made adjustments at halftime and osu didn't match them. They had to play their asses off in the second half to win and they did just that. hats off to them and I thought they earned the win.

5th!? LMFAO.......Even if Thomas leaves which is unlikely at this point this team has WAY too much talent coming back to not be a contender for another Big Ten title right off the bat. You figure you have a number of guys coming back who played significant minutes: Craft, Smith, Scott, Ravenel, and Thompson. I see all of those guys besides maybe Ravenel improving given their age (especially Thompson. Once his body matures a bit more and he puts on some muscle....look out.) Then you've got an incredibly talented big in Amir Williams. Sibert is kind of a wild card but has some experience (same goes for Weatherspoon). You get a full summer and offseason with LaQuinton Ross. Plus another year for Trey McDonald who at worst will be a big body off the bench. That's not factoring in anybody that Matta pulls out last minute in recruiting (Matta=great recruiter, Final Four appearance usually makes for a recruiting boost).

So even without Sully, Buford, and Thomas I can't name 4 teams in the Big Ten better than OSU next year. And that's worst case scenario.

Laughing your ass off and not being as emotionally attached to a collegiate athletic program as you are is an even better way to go through life.
