NCAA Tournament: Second Round Random Chatter

    Flop and a half.
  • gorocks99
    Oh snap, 2 point game.
  • wildcats20
What a stupid play from Colorado.

Dribbling into 3 players at half court is never a good decision.
  • Ironman92
Barkley was roasting Greg Anthony.....UNLV could make Charles an easy target!
  • Big Gain
That's due to the poor play off the bench.
  • gorocks99
Buffaloes still trying to hand the game away....but the Rebs have gone cold. Might not have enough left in the tank.
  • Big Gain
He's pissed the Loyola coach didn't empty his bench and pressed when the Ohio State starters were taken out.

Grading Day #1 of my 35 brackets from school....UNLV down 16 with 14:00 left, fortunately I didn't jump the gun.

UNLV cant shoot for shit tonight. Of all nights.
  • Ironman92
Nice dunk by the 32 year old
  • gorocks99
UNLV really likes throwing up awful shots. Their defense has got them back in this game but seemingly every time they have to play half court they toss up some junk.
  • Laley23
You cant have your two best players play like dog shit and win. Moser and Stanback have been horrible.
  • gorocks99
Meanwhile, Colorado is STILL trying to piss away the game

    lol ANOTHER turnover from Colorado.

How do you win with 23(and counting) TO's?
  • chicago510
Does UNLV run plays or just chuck?
  • gorocks99
Thanks for nothing, UNLV. On to tomorrow. At least my player pool is doing well

Maybe not better, but Thomas would have some huge nights. If Thomas goes pro Ohio State is a borderline top 25 team, but with him I think they're still top 10.

After seeing your post I agree, lol, but I would rather have Thomas back than Sully.
If Sullinger and Thomas both leave early Ohio State won't finish higher than 5th in the Big Ten, they'll be lucky to finish over .500 in the Big Ten.

Will Ravenel and Williams together equal Sullinger's scoring and rebounding?
Will Ross replace Thomas's scoring and rebounding.
Will Lenzel Smith replace Buford's scoring?
Will Thompson and Weatherspoon be able to make a shot other than a dunk or layup?
Shannon Scott. FG% .290, 3Pt% .062, FT% .286 The worst shooter in Ohio State history.
    Will Sibert transfer?
    Craft must average 15ppg.

    My bracket is dead

Moser is an enormous chucker. That was a bad match-up for UNLV, because Colorado really slows the game down and gets physical with you. Obviously Dave Rice didn't bother to implement a half-court offense at any point this season and that hurt them.

I still figured UNLV would win though just because Colorado kind of sucks.

If Sullinger and Thomas both leave Ohio State is in serious trouble, and now that I think about it they won't be near the top 25 unless some guys make huge jumps. If Thomas returns I see a starting 5 of Craft-Smith Jr.-Thompson-Thomas-Williams with Shannon Scott and Evan Ravenel the first 2 off the bench, or switch Ravenel and Williams. Defensively I think they would still be really good, but obviously scoring points would be the issue. The offense would flow through Deshaun Thomas and I could see him averaging 20-22 a game, but someone else would have to step up as a scorer. I'll revise my top 10 to be a top 15ish squad, not that it's much of a difference.

I think Ross will start next season, coming in late this year hurt him a lot. With a year to blend in and improve he could be the outside shooter that the team lacks. If OSU has to start Ravenel they will be an unranked team. Siebert, if he doesn't transfer also has shown at times that he can score. I have no faith that Scott will ever amount to shit and Thompson although a great athlete better learn to shoot at least a little or I don't know how you can play him, Craft, and Smith Jr. all at the same time and expect to beat anyone any good. Matta might want to look at players who can shoot and have good fundamentals and not just great athletes when he is recruiting in the future.

Terrible shooting by one team with not so terrible shooting by the other team.

I've seen it already happen once this year. One team had 31 turnovers, the other 13. The one with 31 TO's won by 3.

Yeah. That would be a problem for OSU. Craft-Smith-Ross-Thomas-Williams/Rav on the floor wouldn't be too big of a concern. But what happens when you have to sub for Ross? Craft, Thompson and Smith Jr all on the floor, all of a sudden, Thomas and Craft are the only ones who can really do anything. Then if you have to sit Smith Jr. while Thompson is in there....

    Ohio State had 18.

Probably my biggest concern heading into the game against Gonzaga. They like to run and really move the ball. If OSU can keep everything in front of them and limit the transition points, they have a good shot at winning. If they turn the ball over like they did last night, Gonzaga is going to kill them in transition.
