  Those guys mainly made up the bench for the teams that missed the tournament and lost in the 1st round as an 8 seed. This team was supposed to be a national title contender. It isn't really comparable, because the starters on this team are so much better than the starters of the 07 and 08 teams were.
  
  The national title team had Lighty, Cook, and Hunter as the first 3 guys off of the bench. That's definitely better than the bench we have now. Cook was a 1st round pick, Hunter spent time on an NBA roster, and Lighty was obviously a solid, solid college player and his freshman year was pretty comparable to Sam Thompson numbers-wise.

  Lighty was pretty bad offensively as a freshman though. He was out of control more often then he was under control. But Hunter and Cook were way better back then than Ravenel and Thompson/Scott are right now.
  
  Not saying these freshmen will never be good (see Turner, Diebler as freshmen - nothing spectacular), but they clearly aren't ready to contribute anything now.
