Conference Tournament Discussion Thread

Valpo is giving it to Butler. Up 14 in the 2nd.

So Butler's NCAA hopes are officially done. It was a glorious run for Brad Stevens and the Bulldogs over the past several years. Five NCAA appearances, three Sweet 16s and two national championship games since 2007. Not bad for a tiny commuter school of 4,000.

Drexel up 10 at half against ODU in the CAA semis.

Iona up 2 at half on Fairfield. In my opinion those are the 2 most talented teams in the MAAC. Fairfield was disappointing this year. Needham is out for them now though, so this is really a game Iona should win.

Creighton down 1 at half to Illinois State. Blue Jays look horrible every time McDermott leaves the floor.
  • Mulva
    McDermott is an animal.

31 today for Dougie. He's not quite the shooter Korver was for the Bluejays, but, at his size, Doug is certainly a beast from 22 feet. Nobody is stopping that.

VCU up 46-20 on George Mason in the 1st half. VCU and Drexel are definitely tournament worthy in my opinion, but I doubt they both get in.
  • Azubuike24
I dunno. If they play a good final, both are deserving.

Middle Tennessee is down 5 to 13-19 Arkansas State in the Sun Belt quarters at the under 8 timeout.

They probably killed any chance they had at an at-large with an awful loss to WKU to end the regular season. Can't afford to choke out here to the conferences 9 seed.

Is this game on TV? Didn't see it. Thanks in advance.

You talked shit about the MAC and then want to watch the Sun Belt? lol

    I'm watching on ESPN3.

There's a Sun Belt logo listed with the score. Is there a Sun Belt network?

    Lol. I guess so, yeah.

I never said the MAC Tournament wasn't exciting. I said the conference as a whole isn't what it used to be. Any conference tournament in March is worth watching. That's a completely different story. I'd watch a tournament this time of year involving grasshoppers if they could play basketball.

There might be, but it would likely only be available in that region of the country (or at least that's my guess). I know I don't have a Sun Belt channel on my guide.

My video quality is shit. I feel like I'm watching with severe glaucoma. But it's a 1 point game with 90 seconds to go.
  • Mulva
The sun belt player of the year misses 2 free throws with under a minute to go, including an air ball.

Arkansas State fouls every single possession though. MTSU going back to the line after an over the back with 20 seconds left. Still down 1.

And 2 more missed free throws. Clutch performance from the Blue Raiders.
  • Mulva
Arkansas State makes 2 free throws. And then fouls again. And-1.

And Middle Tennessee misses the free throw. That's 0/5 from the line in the last 45 seconds of gameplay. I can't believe I'm missing the walking dead to watch this blurry garbage instead.

What's worse is ASU wins with John Brady as coach. AKA, one of the worst coaches ever...

The 2006 Atlanta Regional produced the worst nightmare of my entire life and somehow John Brady was the Dom Cobb of that dream. That guy having a Final Four notch on his coaching belt is like Pauley Shore winning an Oscar. If there was ever a team that won on pure talent alone, it was the 2006 LSU Tigers basketball team.

The Sun Belt is wide open. Western Kentucky (12-18) upset #2 seed Arkansas Little Rock. The top 2 seeds are out, and only Denver remains as one of the top 4 teams left. They play Western Kentucky tonight.
  • Mulva
I'm still pulling for North Texas. I'd like to see Tony Mitchell, even if it was in a blowout against a #1 seed.
  • Azubuike24
Most likely UNT/Denver in the final. That would be a decent game.
  • Terry_Tate
VCU up 30-17 on Drexel late in the first half. They have looked really good so far.
  • SportsAndLady
Yeah VCU looks amazing. Shaka is seeing dollar signs w/ every made basket and Drexel turnover.
  • Mulva
VCU is really good defensively. But Drexel is really limited offensively too.
  • september63
Shaka Smart will be upgrading his resume very soon.
