2013 recruiting chatter

How do you figure this with a team who is terrible this year? Heck, Snaer is the reason they have literally 3 or 4 of the wins they do.

I might overstate it when I say "terrible", but I can't see top 15. Depending on Maryland, I'm not sure FSU is even top 3 in the ACC. UNC, Duke and Virginia would have to be ahead.

I dont mean to be a dick, but if you (and others, to be fair) are saying hes the best player since LeBron. He automatically makes any team he goes to top 10. If not, he isnt as good as you all are saying. Ill leave it at that.

You make a good point. And I agree, anywhere a player like that goes, they are a contender.

Maybe I'm just biased and would rather see him go to a mid-major and make a run, rather than a football school who could give a rats ass about basketball. Literally, FSU fans won't appreciate a great player like that when he's there. He might single-handedly put them as an NCAA contender but come this time next year, the spring football game will put Wiggins on the backburner.

I agree, I want him somewhere better than FSU and somewhere that we will get his games on 35 times a year versus 10-15.

I just think if he is as good as you and others (myself included) believe he can make FSU into a top 4 seed in the NCAAs. FSU isnt great, but with him they should be pretty solid and capable of winning any given game.

I know this is the 2013 thread, but Michigan picked up their first 2014 today in Ricky Doyle.

Any word on Andrew Wiggins' recent visit to Chapel Hill for the Duke game? I hope it was everything he thought it would be.

I thought Loving was white. Now that I know he's black, I'm excited for the upcoming season.

SJJ isnt that good this year and Loving went like 4/234908 from the FT Line.

Rogers is REALLY good too. The City League is very underrated this year. Scott should be in Regionals also, and they finished like 4th in the CL. Rogers has 2 kids going D-1 (Mid-Major, but still). They are good. Smoked Central by 20 in the next game.

Haha, yes. Think it has to do with his name being spelled Marc I guess. And pretty sure I read that he has more of a Euro game for a big man. I don't know, but seriously thought he was white, lol

I don't really look at pictures of high school boys in my free time. Marc Loving sounded white to me, which to me means good shooter, plays defense, has the ability to learn a complicated offense, and is probably built to shit.

A black person tells me that he has all of the above, plus can handle the ball, get to the lane, block shots, dunk the ball, show crazy bursts of speed, and has freakishly long arms that hang down to his toes. I'll take the latter every time.

I would take 3 of those guys over Loving. Hayes, Donnal and Lamb.

Not to burst your bubble. But he will have to seriously work on his ball handling to be much more than an open court dribbler and he does not play above the rim and is actually quite slow with his first step. Doesnt have the ability to burst by defenders.

That said, he has a ton of potential. Hes just not there yet. He can shoot it above average, but no where near as good as Buford. In fact, going into school, Buford was much, much more polished and ready for Big Ten basketball.

    He's African. I think we'll be alright.

    .
Didn't help that SJJ's point guard, Austin Gardner, was out with a severe ankle sprain either--that was huge!!! "Not that good this year'"? Maybe not great, but they sure as hell were good.

Hayes maybe, but not Donnal or Lamb. jmo.

The selfish college basketball fan part of me would like to see Lamb playing college basketball next year(don't think it would be at Michigan) but its probably a lot easier to go the route he is going if he were ever to change his mind.

Oh for sure. Wouldve come right down to wire with him in there. And not that good is in relative to other SJJ teams. For as loaded as Toledo was this year with individual talent, Whitmer, BG and SJJ were all better the last couple years. SJJ really missed the supporting cast as well as Whitmer this year. Good? Yes. Top SJJ team? No.

I like Lamb, but he is undersized and plays against shit up in Michigan. Baseball was a good choice for him. He will have a decision to make regarding Pros/UofM after he is drafted.

Donnal isnt as good as Loving, but he will have a solid career. 6-9 and is a deadly shooter. He has the best stroke for a big guy I can remember in a long time at the HS level (NOTE: That I have personally seen).

I think Hayes, Vitto Brown and Loving are all debatable as the best. Persoanlly, I like what Hayes and Brown bring to the table as far as B1G basketball goes, but they have a ceiling. If Loving can get stronger, work a lot on his ball handling and become a more consistent shooter (ala Buford), he will be an All-B1G player. If not, he will be a good, but disappointing 5* recruit.

Nigel and Vitto have the quickness and bodies already to compete. Marc doesnt have either.

Tend to agree with most of this, and it'll be interesting to see how Loving develops in the weight room at OSU. One thing I think we can agree on-it's been a helluva year for talent in our little corner of the state

Best ever in terms of basketball, and football isnt too shabby with CCHS and Whitmer being loaded with D-1 and TOP D-1 recruits at that. Plus all the other talent on the football field.

Austin Gardner sprained his ankle the night before the game and didn't play. Probably the biggest reason SJJ lost. Rogers is good, but I think with a healthy Gardner SJJ is in the regional.

I will say Rogers played much better against Central, and if they played that same game against a full SJJ team they could have beat them. Kynard was really good. I assume he is one of the D1, players. Who is the second, #32? I was pretty impressed with his game.

Oops, should have read ahead, vball already mentioned Gardner.

Clemmye Owens is #12, also going to Bethune-Cookman. Not sure who #32 is.
