That too...and congrat's on going over the 20K post mark, that's quite an achievement

@BGI_JasonSapp: Not official, but KLM, Jamoris Slaughter, Braxston Cave, Mike Golic Jr, John Goodman & Dan McCarthy all noted as #NotreDame 5th-year players

Sherm's prayers have been answered. sjm's have not.

Wow...crazy that Danny Mac got a fifth year. I figured there would be no way Kelly had him come back. Hopefully this means he'll see some major playing time this year.

There really isn't a player I dislike as much as goodman. He blows. But klm and Braxton cave is nice to have back along with slaughter

    Not trolling here...

I thought ND doesn't allow 5th year players?
  • karen lotz
Neal has already enrolled at Phoenix Central HS to finish out the year.

    That was fast.

they probably did a little homework and found a place he could transfer to before today. Still no reason besides personal, but Kelly/Notre Dame knew this was coming prior to today and the academic stuff has already been checked out.

Athletes who sat out a year from competing have to graduate and be accepted into a graduate program before being invited back for their 5th year athletically.

They don't allow redshirts but you can apply for a 5th year I believe If you finish your degree in 4 years. And enrolled in grad school

Okay that's right. I knew I heard it somewhere, just couldn't remember. Thanks.

Just was reading he may have been changing schools to somewhere where he'd be higher rated in his class?? This an academic move to get him into nd maybe?
  • sjmvsfscs08
No. He already passed admissions or he wouldn't have been able to commit.
  • karen lotz
His LOI wouldn't have been accepted if he couldn't pass admissions.

I just saw something on twitter from Eric Hansen saying Notre Dame is all good with the transfer, so it should be a non issue going forward.
  • karen lotz
Jacob Matuska is commit #2 out of Bishop Hartley in Columbus. #6 TE but will start out at DE. He's been a fan of Notre Dame for a long time, and any time a coach from another program was visiting his school to talk to him, he'd wear a Notre Dame tie.
  • OneBuckeye
Why would he start at DE?
  • karen lotz
That's where the staff likes him and has recruited him? He plays DE also, its not like he is moving to safety.
