I don't think he punched a cop, and I don't think any reports say that. It is unbelievable how many times Notre Dame has been ripe for criticism and you fuckers can't get it right a single time.DeyDurkie5;1161717 wrote:only at notre dametheysuck will someone punch a cop.
Some thoughts on the issue:
Unlike at Ohio State, where underage drinking is basically encouraged and you have to be fighting or burning things to get arrested (and that's a compliment), South Bend cops tend to hate the students and football players. Anyone who's ever lived in South Bend or attended Notre Dame knows that. Did you know that the Chief of Police has recently sued Notre Dame? Did you know that the neighbors came out and said that the party wasn't overly loud at all? Did you know that five people jumped the fence at this party and every cop ran after only Tommy Rees?
That said, Tommy Rees is a fucking moron. I seriously doubt that he actually was violent towards a police officer, and thus the charges weren't felonious (and still need to be proven), but you never run from the cops. I can definitely see his inebriated mind thinking that the cops were "out to get him," but running from the cops is never, ever a good idea.
I think he should be suspended for the year. -

You never got hammered after your exams were over? Oh, that's right, you were too cool for school.
In just the last year Ohio State has had a player assault a student on campus, and another one shoot a gun on campus. In addition to the fact that Chris Carter (you know, the guy who tricked a slew of girls to take their clothes off so he could feel them up as he impersonated a military officer) is still on the team, I don't think you have any room to talk. -

At OSU, the coach is fired if he covers up NCAA violations. Even if he's won a national title.I don't think you have any room to talk.
At Notre Dame, the coach is retained when his negligence kills a kid. Even if he can only manage 8 win seasons. -

I think the Notre Dame administation will FORCE Kelly to boot Reese off the team if the story is even close to being true. The summer time suspensions that Kelly has been handing out in the past (for alcohol related incidents) will not fly this time.sjmvsfscs08;1162032 wrote:I don't think he punched a cop, and I don't think any reports say that. 1) Jamaal Berry was suspended and eventually kicked off the team.sjmvsfscs08;1162033 wrote:lolololol

2) IT WAS A BB GUN LOL. And he was later booted from the team after being charged with an OVI.
3) All charges against Chris Carter were dropped.
I doubt Rees is suspended for the year. I'm thinking he will get a Floyd-esque punishment (i.e. get "good" grades, being forced to move into a dorm (gasp!), and not having to report for voluntary workouts). -

OSU fans: "Who would want to play in South Bend if you're from Florida?!? At least OSU is in the premier urban setting in the midwest..."

Its difficult for them to think clearly, because all of the blood has left their brain and gone to another body part whenever anything Notre Dame comes up. -

ytownfootballAnyway, kinda sucks that Rees got caught, not really doing anything others haven't done, too bad he's not bright enough to keep out of the situation and be rastlin' with the cops...shoulda just stayed in doors Tommy boy lol.
-
karen lotzIf he doesn't run, there is likely nothing to the story at all. He and Calabrese were the only two at the party arrested. Everyone else there obeyed what the police were saying. Definitely has no one to blame but himself, just stupid.
-
vball10setHe put himself in a bad position, yes, but you have to wonder how much of what he did and what Calabrese said was blown out of proportion. The bottom line is he may have backed Kelly and ND into a corner, so it'll be interesting to see how it plays out.

I don't hate the university, I love the university. I just fucking hate the clueless fans who beat off daily to Urban Meyer, Jim Tressel, and the whole dirty fucking program. Sorry, think it's a little bit more ignorant to assume half a million alumni are doing what you suggest and lump them together and paint us all in one broad stroke because you're blinded by hatred...it's cool though, we're used to it.sjmvsfscs08;1162342 wrote:I don't hate the university, I love the university. Rees sounds like he was just blasted and had a bit of drunken rage/stupidity. I don't see a whole lot coming out of this and if I were an ND fan I wouldn't be that concernedc What's the worst that could happen? Benched? Dismissed? He sucks anyway. -
