Ohio State vs. Texas Pan-American (the chump opponents roll on)

  • Heretic
After that tough game with Florida, Ohio State's played a bunch of weaklings, as we all know. From Jackson State to North Florida to VMI to Valpo to Duke and now to Texas Pan American. Five straight wins by 22+ points over nobodies with a sixth looking imminent.

These guys are 2-6 with a 19-point loss to DePaul, a 24-point loss to Northwestern and a 10-point loss to Toledo. In past years, Toledo's been, by far, the worst team in the MAC, so that's a real good sign as to where this team is. They also lost by 4 and 15 to South Carolina Upstate (two games against them), who appears on OSU's schedule a bit later.

Another in a long string of "name your score" games that Ohio State's been playing.

These games are no big deal as unlike football there is a tournament so it really don't matter who you play. It would be nice to see them play teams like Kent, Akron, or CSU but They won't for some reason.

Also there are 30 plus games so it is not like they wont have any bad teams in there.

Read a book about basketball before questioning this guy.

Kinda dumb that BTN is showing the scUM game @ Noon in Ohio & we can't watch the #2 ranked team in our own state

    These announcers are terrible.

I think we can all see the importance of Sully now. Score's only 22-9, so that means Texas Pan-Am's looking as good as Duke out there against the Bucks.

The game is just ugly. OSU starting to heat up now though.

Is JJ Sullinger commentating? I think I heard him refer to someone on the team as his brother. Well anyway, he sucks.

Yes, Duke got run out of the gym. It was a perfect storm. Duke played the worst game it will play of the year, and Ohio State played its best. The Buckeyes will only get better as the year moves forward, but they will never duplicate that type of shooting and overall performance. It was a spectacular night for them.

But, as bad as a week as it's been for me as a fan of the Blue Devils, it's refreshingly amusing to read all of this spouting from Buckeye fans. They win one game against Duke and now they're the Minneapolis Lakers and Jared Sullinger is George Mikan. There's only one problem with that scenario. We've sent 12 men to the moon since Ohio State last won anything of any relevance. And that's the definition of a basketball weakling.

Anyone know why DeShaun Thomas didn't start this game?

Again, OSU whips Duke in convincing fashion and you're on a primarily OSU forum. WTF did you expect?

I'm quite aware OSU hasn't won a title in ages. Everyone knows hoops comes 2nd in Columbus, but I'm happy with the their current rise with Matta.

    It's reality.

    score update?
  • trep14
Nevermind apparently he did. ESPN's box score has that he didn't start.

You're not a real fan and you're lying to yourself to think Duke even has a shot at winning anything this year.

You're a bandwagon fan and Duke got their ass handed to them by a school that puts basketball 3rd. How does that feel? LOL

wat's reality is that OSU beat duke by 20 in a game that was never in doubt. what's reality is duke is lightyears behind OSU in basketball this year. what's reality is the hypocritical ways duke fans act when their teams get butt raped. have fun with your first round exit in the NIT.

It felt bad at first, and then I realized that Duke's biggest wins come in April and, with the type of inflated reactions I've been seeing around here, Ohio State's apparently arrive just after Thanksgiving.

The score doesn't even tell the whole story. OSU removed their starters with almost a quarter of the game to go while Duke kept their best players in. Duke knew they had lost but they wanted to make the score look slightly better. Well it backfired and anyone watching the game knows that Duke can barely keep up with OSU's 2nd string much less stay within 30 of their 1st.
