Ohio State vs. Texas Pan-American (the chump opponents roll on)

  • vball10set
31-14 OSU in the 2nd half

Apparently, the only thing in NCAA basketball that even considered to be "of ANY relevance" is the final game of the NCAA tournament. Since, just under Matta, they have won everything but that game at least once (conference regular season, conference tournament and every round but the finals in the NCAA).

But that's a Duke fan for you. Whiny, entitled and living in a bubble where anything that isn't Duke is an inferior species. Which will just make things more amusing when, five years after K retires, they're looking like Ohio State towards the end of the Jim O'Brian era.

No one will care about Duke come Apri. They are heavily overrated this year and if they play anyone good(unlikely in the ACC) they will lose. Enjoy!

Also, you are a bandwagon fan and Duke doesn't even like you.

Ohio State players have anal intercourse with their opponents? That's an incredibly strange to say.

And if you think Duke is going to the NIT, then your intelligence is 12.

Why are you still talking about Duke? They got their ass beat. Accept it. Move the fuck on.

The Buckeyes will only get better as the year moves forward, but they will never duplicate that type of shooting and overall performance. It was a spectacular night for them.

But, as bad as a week as it's been for me as a fan of the Blue Devils, it's refreshingly amusing to read all of this spouting from Buckeye fans. They win one game against Duke and now they're the Minneapolis Lakers and Jared Sullinger is George Mikan. There's only one problem with that scenario. We've sent 12 men to the moon since Ohio State last won anything of any relevance. And that's the definition of a basketball weakling.
Some Final Fours aren't anything of relevance? A National Player of the year? A bunch of conference and conference tournament titles? Ok, gotcha.

You're right, OSU historically hasn't been an elite basketball school. But ever since Matta came to town, OSU has definitely joined that top echelon of basketball programs. Who really cares right now that OSU didn't do much from the 1970's-1990's? We get it, Duke has an amazing basketball tradition. But that didn't seem to matter much when OSU and Duke played the other night. No one gives a shit that Duke was better than OSU in basketball during the 1980's and 90's. What people care about right now is that OSU took it to Duke the other night and it's no coincidence that Duke played so poorly. This OSU team is one of the most athletic and defensively sound teams that Columbus has had. They cause teams problems.

Duke knew they had lost but they wanted to make the score look slightly better. Well it backfired and anyone watching the game knows that Duke can barely keep up with OSU's 2nd string much less stay within 30 of their 1st.
Sullinger, Craft and Buford played 37, 38 and 39 minutes, respectively. I wouldn't let things that are indisputably the case get in the way of your inconsequential rambling, however. Proceed.

This is exactly why people hate Duke. This is an OSU-UTPA thread, posting a long post about Duke on here is just stupid. So what if people have made a comment or 2 about Duke, fans will have their fun.

53-26 with 6 to play in a game where OSU played without their top player and extensively played their freshmen. They're just good defensively from top to bottom on their roster. I wasn't expecting them to hold any team (even one this bad) to what'll wind up roughly 30 points under those circumstances.

And it's hard to not have that fun when, on this site, one Duke fan has constantly whined about officiating while showing absolutely no knowledge of how basketball is played (and you'd expect a gym teacher to, you know, have some understanding of sports) and another seems to look at white-knighting the program as his duty in life ("WHAT!?!?! Fans worldwide don't revere Coach K and Duke the same way I do?!?!? I call BLASPHEMY on them and their inferior programs!!!! Now gimme that love juice, Mr. K...").

But then, imagine how much more boring life would be if some fans weren't complaining about refs or making catty comments about other programs' fans after losing.

not with Aaron Craft all over his ugly ass

    :D
  • reclegend22
I assure you that Aaron Craft wasn't guarding Dre Dawkins.

Dawkins is a very unpredictable player, very up and down. He can score huge, like the 26 he dropped on Michigan State at the Garden, or he can leave with 0. Obviously that's partly on him, as he's got to be more proactive moving without the ball sometimes and putting himself in positions to score, but this season Duke has, in my opinion, done a very underwhelming job of utilizing Dawkins' skill set on the perimeter and not setting him up for scoring opportunities. He got very few looks again against Ohio State. One. It's not the first time this season, either.

UTPA coach said he joked with team at halftime they were better than Duke. Trailed OSU by 17 at half, Duke trailed by 19.... lol

Good news is Matta says there is a good chance Sullinger will play vs. Kansas
  • reclegend22
Well, the UTPA coach is a big idiot. Had Sullinger been playing, the UTPA coach would have been put in his place. I really don't care what the UTPA coach has to say. He basically coaches basketball in Mexico. He's an irrelevant jerk. (I'm satirizing myself, BTW. I probably am a bit defensive of Duke from time to time, which I can admit. But this site, and people like Ahdonis, have certainly made that an easy feat.)
