More Disappointing Exit: Woody Hayes or Joe Paterno?

  • mallymal614
What's so sad about these two coaching legends is that both left their programs on controversy. From Woody's infamous punch, to now Penn State's scandal under Joe Pa's watch. Will you remember one more than the other?

nothing tops raping little boys. end of story. end of these comparisons.

    This. There's no comparison.

You should but I'm glad I got to post on it before you do so I can say just how retarded this comparison is.

I apologize if some took this the wrong way. I probably should have been more specific. I'm not really comparing the actually actions. Because I agree there is no comparison with what took place in Happy Valley. This is more to do with how the coaches left. Especially since Joe himself didn't commit the crime. Then again didn't he follow through with it more like he probably should have did.

I think when people think of Woody Hayes, they think legendary coach first, then about how his career ended.

Moving forward, when you say the word Paterno, you will think about about a bunch of innocent kids getting molested. And that is the difference.

Paterno's exit is easily more disappointing. Hell, I was rooting for Woody to follow up that uppercut with a left cross. ;)

Paterno's was more disappointing because it was a rushed judgement. There was actual videotape of Woody Hayes wrong doing. No solid proof yet about what Paterno didn't do or did do.

GTFO, Joe Pa might be the most disappointing end to ANYTHING ever.

People act as if Joe Pa raped little boys. Pretty pathetic.

Please......at best JoePa did the minimum and hoped it would go away.

No, he just turned a blind eye while little boys were raped.

Whatever you want to believe. No point in trying to convince you otherwise, you don't get it.

Yeah I know, me and most of America don't get it. The BOT's didn't get it. The media doesn't get it. The small minority of JoePa apologists do though.

Because the masses only see JOE PA COVERED UP RAPE, they don't actually know(or care) about the truth or all the details. The BOT bends to the will of the public to save face about the university. The media has an incentive to drive ratings, not make the story truthful and accurate.

The small minority of Joe Pa defenders are defenders of truth, reason, logic, and justice and have a reason to stick their neck out against public opinion.

Oh, in that case keep fighting the good fight and defending the truth.

Woody Hayes. He actually did something wrong.

The public flogging we've seen of an American hero this week is one of the saddest chapters in our nation's sporting history. I've never seen such a mockery in my entire life.

Long live the legend of Joe "Pa" Paterno, one of the truly great people to ever walk this earth. An extraordinary man.

No, that was Coach McQeary and the Janitor that turned a blind eye to 2 little boys getting raped.

American heros do not allow a sexual predator to roam the halls of HIS athletic complex....WITH LITTLE BOYS IN TOW.

Technically, coach McQuery did MORE than Paterno....Still not enough, but technically....more.

You mean they also turned blind eyes.

Using your logic, those two did what they were supposed and notified their superiors, right?

The direct witness to a crime should do more than the person the witness tells. But I still don't get how he did "more". Explain?

The most confusing part of this whole incident to me is that McQueary has a job and the board has stated he won't be fired or asked to step down. Either he knows something or they know something that isn't being said.

^^Keep thinking Joe Pa is the victim.
