On Wednesday, Notre Dame announced it established the Declan Drumm Sullivan Memorial Scholarship, assisting students in financial need who have also demonstrated Sullivan's traits. Fisher Hall will rally around Sullivan on Thursday night, the same way Lewis Hall -- home of Declan's sister, Gwyneth -- will with a private Mass exactly one year after his death.

demonstrating his traits? Falling from high level while trying to video tape a meaningless practice?

I don't hate the kid at all, but I cannot stand how the university handled the situation. Yeah, they took "responsibility" for the event happening by keeping their jobs and levying out zero punishment to the negligent parties involved. The parents obviously didn't give a damn about their son because they were quietly paid a large sum of money to keep quiet and sweep the thing under the rug.

All these events now celebrating his life are just part of their plan to mitigate the damage that's been done to an innocent child in lieu of actually firing those responsible in the football program for letting a kid go up in shoddy lifts in 50+ MPH winds. So much for a Christian University, anyone that supports the program at its current state is truly a child of god.

This is one of the most classless things I have ever seen.

Can't be anymore classless than negligently killing a child and getting away with it. It seems everyone outside of ND nation care for an innocent child, while those inside ND nation are quick to sweep it under the rug to protect their coach and their reputation.

If this happened at any school other than ND you would NEVER have brought it up. You need to learn 2 just stfu.

No, because any other school would have fired their coach and AD for being incompetent and murdering an innocent child.

Repulsive and repugnant attempt to steer the conversation away from a true tragedy that could have been prevented or at least partly vindicated by the U of ND accepting full responsibility and firing its murderous coach.

It should have been you, not Declan.

    Hope this helps.

Murdered? That's a pretty strong word. I don't think there was premeditaded intent to do Sullivan harm. Do I think there was negligence involved....yes. But murder? No.

Doesn't have to be pre-meditated to be murder.

the crime of unlawfully killing a person especially with malice aforethought
I suppose if malice was a forethought than it is murder. They wanted to harm Sullivan then, is that what you are saying? I think you are confusing murder and homicide. You be

It is my understanding that you believe this to be a case of negligent homicide. Here is the definition of homicide, it is not the same as murder in all cases.
