(2-5) Navy @ (4-3) Notre Dame 10/29

Navy will get a bunch of yards in this game regardless of the qb. I'm not convinced ND is able to stop an offense like this, especially with so many young guys playing on the line.

A new field in South Bend next year?

    http://irish.nbcsports.com/2011/10/28/pregame-six-pack-navy-edition/

"...One source close to the football program has told me that Notre Dame will begin serious research on replacing the stadium’s natural grass as soon as the season finishes. No option has been taken off the table yet — keeping the natural surface is certainly still in play. So is replacing the grass with field turf, the surface already on the LaBar practice fields. An interesting option that might make everybody happy is a surface to what the Packers use in Green Bay. It’s a natural grass surface that’s also reinforced with man-made synthetic fibers, that’s set on a sand-based soil.

Beneath the field is a heating system, irrigation lines and drainage system that has turned the surface into some of the best and safest in the NFL. It’s also designed to keep the grass and ground at 55 degrees even on a day when the temperature is well below freezing.
After years of mediocre playing surfaces often times holding back the athleticism on Notre Dame’s sidelines, any change to the current grass would be a good one. And at a place like Lambeau Field, where tradition also has its own very important place, the Irish might have a perfect match...."

    Same here.

Don't worry Irish faithful. You will score at will. The Navy defense is depleted with injuries. The are literally out of linebackers. Corners are also very thin. These things are coming on top of an already young/inexperienced defense.

Kelly will be gone soon. He is putting his own writing on the wall by stirring the alumni pot so much.

    No.

See Lou Holtz with the Administration... Since then the alumni has become the administration

turning over coaches every 3 years does nothing. The older alumni are a joke.

It's not just the older alumni. In the past week he's stated he wants a jumbotron and new turf by next year. Today he separated his recruits on the team from the players he inherited. Last year he told Notre Dame fans they "better get used to it" after his pass call from the 20 yard against Tulsa when the team only needed a field goal to win. He's blamed the atmosphere for games. You don't push around the ND community like that AND not win and stay around very long. There are plenty of other coaches who realize they are not bigger than the University itself, or at least are smart enough not to bite the hand that feeds them.

Also, it's the players themselves. They are not happy with Kelly right now

The players getting upset its a perfect example if what he's trying to change. The attitude. Players that played under Weis feel entitled. The second anyone says they aren't playing well they go to twitter and Facebook and complain because someone finally tells them how it is. Aaron Taylor called the seniors out as well this week for not being leaders. Its all a part of changing an attitude and building a program.

A grown man separating a group of 20-21 year olds from "his" 18 and 19 year olds really accomplishes a lot. Manti Te'o "I'm playing for my bros and that's it". Good call Kelly... I still know kids on the team, but for Kelly's sake- I hope Navy wins by 21 again

Uh go to ND Nation and read what they say. Its a joke. Funny that someone who doesn't have a clue posts about it too.

I'm not posting about the alums. That was just you. I was posting about you referring to a group of people that you have no affiliation with. I know a MAC undergrad degree isn't much to talk about, but doesn't mean you should focus on trying to rip a group of people that are all probably much smarter than you...
  • karen lotz
They can be smarter than me all they want. It doesn't mean they aren't unreasonable when it comes to football. Like I said, read the shit they say and tell me they make sense. Are you saying I have a MAC undergrad degree? When did OSU join the MAC? Why do you even bother posting about Notre Dame? You have no idea what you are talking about.

Just read about the comments Kelly made about the players. Not a good idea IMO. If they lose to Navy today, 4-4....get ready for the hot seat and the media coverage....and rightfully so.
  • slingshot4ever
There's no reasoning with Karen...don't even try...

Bad move separating the guys like that. He's probably just trying to light a fire...but it looks like that could be a major backfire.

It's going to be pretty tough to convince Manti to come back for his senior season after something like that.

    Agreed.

    Go Irish! Beat Navy!

I really dislike the music getting pumped into the stadium now.

If I have to hear the start of "Crazy Train" as much as I did last week, I'm going to lose my mind.
  • killer_ewok
That's close. Might be down there. Shit. Figures.
  • killer_ewok
Te'o is playing like a man possessed today. But Navy keeps converting on 3rd down. SMH
  • killer_ewok
Nice job by the D on that 3rd down.
