Hire Urban Meyer

Sounds good to me.Big Gain;936070 wrote:Saw a friend I hadn't seen in a couple of years this weekend, a VP for Arbys, a BIG Ohio State booster. When we see each other we rarely talk football. As soon as he saw me he volunteered that Urban was going to be the Ohio State Head Coach next year, negotiations were in progress. I asked who his source was, he said he couldn't tell me, he wasn't even supposed to know. He says it's a GOOD source. I asked how sure he was, he said 99%. The only thing he was 100% sure about is that we all die someday. -

How? We are used to winning and getting the best recruits in the country. Not going to change.Ty Webb;936132 wrote:If Urban Meyer is the next head coach at Ohio State, shit as some of you people know it will change
Playing for National Championships and having to 'settle' for BCS games in other years. Not going to change.
The only thing that might change is the score disparity in our games vs FCS and MAC schools. Urban Meyer's offensive schemes are so good that you almost can't stop yourself from scoring vs those teams. -

you act like OSU doesn't know what winning is? Seroiusly dude, get off the dick of the SEC/Florida. They are good no doubt, but their are other very good teams out there.Ty Webb;936132 wrote:If Urban Meyer is the next head coach at Ohio State, shit as some of you people know it will change -
JawbreakerWhen the job opening does come up, and if they don't pursue Meyer, does that mean they can't take a chance on him or they found out something about him? I only bring this up because there is no way that OSU can afford to hire someone that will get caught doing something within the next 10 years. It just can't happen for the sake of the program. I believe they are going to investigate as much as they can anyone they plan on offering the job to.
I am not saying Meyer is dirty or anything just wondering how this is going to play out. -

If Downs got off the dick of the SEC/Florida, he might have to do things like analyze his life and how it's a complete failure. And that could lead to a murder-suicide situation (possibly in a crowded building in an attempt to REALLY get attention), which no one wants (at least the "murder" part of the equation; the "suicide" part would be greeted with indifference).DeyDurkie5;936374 wrote:you act like OSU doesn't know what winning is? If nothing against Meyer has come out at this point then nothing will. Other than having a lot of his players at Florida getting arrested and Lane Kiffin accusing him of a recruiting violation that wasn't a violation, I'm not aware of any serious accusations against him concerning rules violations.Jawbreaker;936429 wrote:When the job opening does come up, and if they don't pursue Meyer, does that mean they can't take a chance on him or they found out something about him? Also, if OSU isn't going to hire him or if he isn't going to take the job, I'm sure that once the job officially becomes available he'll issue a statement saying that he's staying with ESPN. Otherwise they will definitely interview him. -
OneBuckeyeWhat is the definition of page coming "soon"?

OneBuckeyeI think it would be a good waste of you time to make OSU wallpapers featuring urban for the site and my consumption.

stroupsIf anybody had hope for gruden he just signed a 5 year extension with mnf.

Good. Not sure why anyone would want to bring in a guy who has basically no experience running a college program, and is used to having players supplied via a draft (no recruiting necessary). I have no doubt he's a good coach, but I want someone with major college experience; not someone who is almost completely an NFL guy.stroups;936616 wrote:If anybody had hope for gruden he just signed a 5 year extension with mnf.
As far as Urban Meyer's background...what does anyone think they'll be finding? So far as I know, he never got into any NCAA trouble at Florida; and Florida was one of those SEC schools who didn't fudge the rules regarding oversigning, like LSU and 'Bama. -

Well, it means that until I find someone who knows something about web design and is willing to volunteer sometime, that the page you see is all you're going to get.
I'll see if I have some free time to come up some sort of "Hire Urban Meyer" wallpaper.OneBuckeye;936600 wrote:I think it would be a good waste of you time to make OSU wallpapers featuring urban for the site and my consumption. -

I may be wrong on this but, usually when a school hires a new football coach, a lot of changes are the norm and not the exception. A new coach isn't usually brought in after one was fired to keep things going as they were. -
Big GainI think his **** means completing more than one pass a game.

Not that he was going to OSU, or that OSU really wants him but... his ESPN contract has an out clause for four teams: Texas, OSU, Cowboys and Dolphins.stroups;936616 wrote:If anybody had hope for gruden he just signed a 5 year extension with mnf. -

The scuttlebutt is he's supposed to be INTRODUCED to OSU fans at that game. The actual announcement would likely come a bit earlier. This would be similar to what they did with Tressel when he was hired.captvern;940304 wrote:UM is suppose to be announced as head coach when OSU hosts DUKE Nov 26th -
Fred FlintstoneI also heard that about him being announced at half time of the OSU/Duke basketball game. One other thing I heard is that he accepted the ND job before Brian Kelly but failed the physical due to heart problems.

How is it possible that Charlies Weis could pass a physical for the Notre Dame job but Urban Meyer couldn't?
