Honest to God, go to the O-Zone and watch/read the comments by Fickell, Tressel and some other coaches about criticisms over the offense. The level of stupidity will make your head hurt.

I can't remember the last time I thought a coaching staff was so incompetent on any level.

When the key members of a coaching staff try to tell me "it's not about x's and o'x" on offense, but execution, I know they're either lying, arrogant beyond redemption or so stupid they probably can't wipe their own asses.

Since we know they aren't stupid, it's either an out and out lie or arrogance so deeply ingrained that what is clearly a lie to you and me, actually sounds like truth to them.

I have to take such comments to mean they aren't planning on making adjustments to the horrors I've seen them produce on offense. That being the case against a team as talented as Nebraska, on the road, and I feel pretty confident saying this will get ugly before it ends.
There isn't a coach that's worth a grain of salt that would repudiate his players in the press. Every coach in the country lies to the press/fans. The ugly truth is spoken on the practice field and in locker room. The Xs and Os are no different than they have been under Tressel. In truth, there has not been a coaching change, thus the Xs and Os are the same.

We have the passing plays, not the line, not the QB nor receivers

Sadly, most of our passing plays were 20 yard patterns that took more time to develop than our line could give when out numbered (by blitzes). What we didn't see were any quick three step patterns to tight ends, running backs or wide receivers on slants (into spaces vacated by blitzing linebackers).

You have to put players in a position to be successful, and this coaching staff has not done that. They run into 8 and 9 man fronts and expect six linemen to be able to block it.

While this isn't far removed from the play calling under Tressel, that's not a good excuse, since most of Tressel's offenses under-achieved when compared to the personnel they had (just look at past national rankings on offense).

No matter how you spin it, there's no excuse for the poor level of planning and adjustments we've seen from this coaching staff so far.

Closer than what some think IMO. 24-14 Nebraska.

For some odd reason, I can see it being this close... and I think it actually has a pretty good shot of being that close... but I just have a gut feeling we're in for a rough ride.

What if we win? It seems damn near impossible, but holy shit that would be awesome.

My prediction is another sloppy and painful to watch game, similar to Michigan State

Minimum Amount of Alcohol I'll need to make it through the game- 6 IPA's (last week was 5 beers, 1/2 a bottle of wine & 3 shots of whiskey, but my expectations are lower now)

    Score- Nebraska 17 OSU 6

Only 2 FG's from the explosive OSU offense, the defense will keep it close until Late TD for Nebraska to put the game away....

I happily wear Scarlet & Gray glasses, and it's been a long time since I truly thought OSU was going to lose an upcoming game (possibly all the way back to '04), but unless the defense pitches a shutout, I don't see OSU having much of a chance. Really I'm just hoping they don't get blown out.

This is a bad OSU team, and unlike '04 I don't trust the coaching staff enough to think they'll improve much at all as the season goes on.

The Defense is Good, but not close to Great, while the Offense is a disgrace to the game of Football...

Judging by the comments of dick tressell I don't see anything changing offensively. So according to him we just have to "execute" a little better. Lol I might start drinking at 9 tomorrow.

    Agreed.

In Omaha tonight. Saw a few Buckeyes along I-80 on the way over. Can't wait for the atmosphere and if we win it would be unreal. If JT was calling the plays I'd like our chances but will be a fun day regardless.

Terry, we're out here in Omaha drinking at the Nebraska Brewing Co. Besides my group about 5 other Buckeye fans in here. Anyone else in Nebraska?

I expect OSU to lose by double digits but it's another stadium knocked off my list. Always wanted to catch a game here.
  • Terry_Tate
Looks like that's about 15 minutes from where me and my buddy are staying. May head down in a few. We just went to a place called DJs Dugout and saw no Buckeyes.

I don't know if it would be 'unreal' or 'amazing' to win. Does everyone not know that Nebraska just got beat 48-17? I'm confident when I say OSU's defense is better than Wisconsin's defense. And confident when I say Nebraska's defense isn't as good as Michigan State's defense this year. A very close, low scoring game is quite possible....

I've got a feeling there's going to be a lot of shocked Huskers Sunday morning...just sayin'

C'mon guys...really? Unless Fickell and Bollman received brain enemas this past week and the O-line actually showed up for practice, Ohio State is likely to be humiliated again in prime time.

wonders never cease, and like your username says...you gotta' believe

I dont think we are going to win but Oh St doesnt get blown out too often and it wont be tonight. Something like 27-17 although if Martinez turns it over then a couple times we could pull one out.
Oh yea Christian Bryant will have a pick 6.
  • stroups
Bryant could of had a couple pick six's this year if he would of hung on to the ball.
