#14 Nebraska def. Ohio State 34-27

  • Trueblue23
OSU looks to bounce back from a loss to MSU, while Nebraska tries to respond to a whooping from a really good Wisconsin team.
  • Fly4Fun
I'm not so sure Ohio State is looking to bounce back... I'd definitely settle for something resembling an offense.
  • rightfield
No chance of winning this week. Nice to have 4 or 6 starters back (depending on injuries) but the main problem is QB and that isn't going to be any better this week. By the last 3 or 4 games of the season Braxton will look a little better but without a real OC to mentor him not much improvement can be expected.

When I say Nebraska by 21, I mean final score Nebraska 24 OSU 3

and not all of those points have to be scored by Nebraska's offense

Nebraska fans don't share your optimism even with OSU's inept offense. I really don't know what to expect in this game other than it being low scoring and boring.

    OSU 9

OSU gets in field goal range twice off Taylor Martinez turnovers.

Nebraska was pounding the ball well on Wisconsin in the first quarter and half of the second quarter. Then they just stopped. They didn't get stopped running the ball, just went completely away from it. It went from a 14-13 lead, to pass....int....TD wisconsin....pass...int....TD wisconsin and a 27-14 lead at half in about a 5 minute span. I think if they continue to run the ball, Martinez is capable of hitting a wide open TE across the middle every now and then.

That is their offense and by trying to do something else will result in epic failure.

Most Nebraska fans are borderline retarded.

This goes back to the days of Mike D'Andrea's recruitment that I realized this

An ass kicking of major proportions. The only question is whether OSU will score at all.

Nebraska has one of the most potent offenses in all of college football. The problem with the B1G is that great offenses are often masked by great defenses(this seems to the be only conference who has to deal with this unique problem).

With that said, I don't think Ohio State has a great offense, or an offense in general. Our defense is top 5 in the country, our offense might be in the bottom 10.

Nebraska by a lot. Maybe 2 touchdowns.

Posey and Boom Herron are worth at least one TD, but the Bucks can't overcome homefield advantage without a QB.

Nebraska has the athletes on defense to do the same thing that MSU did to the Buckeye offense (load the box and blitz every down) whether it's Miller or Bauserman it won't make much difference. Adams, Posey and Herron will help a little but not enough to overcome the obvious lack of anything that resembles a game plan by Bollman. I blame the coaching staff for most of the offensive problems they don't have a clue. That was hard to watch and I don't see much hope for improvement soon. Miller will get better but put together a game plan that gives the kid a chance, he can't be that stupid that you can only call about 4 different plays (I know he's afreshman but he's been there since January. Nebraska 21 Ohio State 13

Everyone keeps saying Miller will get better. Considering he looks like a kid trying to see over the tall guys in the front row, I suppose there's no place to go but - well - up.

Doesn't this kid know how to toss tight spiral passes? What was it the recruiters saw when he was in high school..the ability to run or take sacks? Oh that's right....he's a freshman. I should be nicer.

In all fairness he needs an O-line that knows the snap counts and one that can actually block.

Nebraska is licking their wounds after the Wisky drubbing and the Buckeye offense is pathetic.

I don't see any hope of the Buckeyes winning this one at all. And we get to witness the slaughter in high-definition prime time on ABC.

Nebraska had 20 first downs and 335 total yards against Wisconsin. Their meltdown at the end of the first half where they went from being ahead to down by 2 TD was actually in the last 2 minutes of the half when Martinez threw two consecutive picks is what killed them, and forced them to do things they normally don't to get back into it. If they run the ball to end the half and continue running the ball in the second half it actually could have been a good game.

I would say they were inept at stopping Wilson, but OSU doesn't have a QB even remotely as good as him. If Nebraska comes out and turns the ball over 3 times again, commits penalties on every drive, then it should be a good game. OSU's defense is good enough to slow down Nebraska's running game and keep them in it though. Believe it or not, I think OSU will find *some* success on offense. Nebraska has a lot of youth and inexperience in the secondary.

As said previously by others in this thread (I believe I also mentioned it in the Wisky/Nebraska game thread), but Nebraska struggled against Wisconsin when they got pass happy with Martinez. When they were keeping it on the ground and only airing it out occasionally, they were doing great.

For some reason they thought Martinez turned into a throwing QB... which he's not.

Not game related, but OSU may hear from the NCAA re: sanctions this week. If OSU does get slapped with a bowl ban, I hope Smith has enough smarts not to appeal the decision.

Re: the game, looking forward to getting Adams and Posey back. Will be interesting to see how the team responds.
