Mizery turns down the SEC to stay in Big 12

WVU to the Big 12, looks like..

    http://msn.foxsports.com/collegefootball/story/report-West-Virginia-lining-up-move-to-big-12-102511
That would mean the Big East is set to lose a fourth FBS-playing member, leaving the league with five schools that play FBS football: Cincinnati, Connecticut, Louisville, Rutgers and South Florida.
    Yikes

ND to Big XII for non football sports is picking up stream.
  • SportsAndLady
Don't understand why a conference would take ND but not for football..what the hell is the point? ND is ND because of their football.

At this point, it might be a foot in the door if Notre Dame is somewhat forced to join a conference in the future?

Yeah that has to be the only reason why these conferences justify taking ND for non-football only.

Big XII proposing ND remains independent, but plays 6 games against Big XII teams. I'd think 6 might be too many if ND is still trying to keep some of their current series going.

the article karen lotz posted wrote:And there is speculation that Notre Dame's possible interest in the Big 12 for its non-football sports could entice Mizzou to stay put
I stopped reading at this point, because Missouri couldn't give a shit less about ND's other sports.

Or ND could join a conference instead of pretending they are special despite not winning anything in the last 20 years.

Why would the Big 12 let them do that? If they aren't playing football, the added benefit would be somewhat negligible IMO

Big XII proposed ND joining for other sports and playing 6 Big XII teams in football each year. It would also give them a good shot of being ND's landing place if the landscape changes to the point where they have to join a conference. Gaining ND's programs in other sports plus 6 football games a year would be much better for the conference than nothing.

That's 6 guaranteed wins for those other Big XII schools, so yeah, it would be better for them. Pwned bitch karen, hahahahah!!!!1!!111!!!!111!!!one.

A schedule of 6 Big 12 schools, a couple Big Ten, USC, and whatever other 3 out so teams they want to fill it out is pretty solid too.

That would be a brutal schedule. Michigan, Texas, USC (any other Big 12 schools they add). Adding 6 Big 12 schools to schedule would probably mean an end to some of the Big 10 rivalries they have?

They are letting Texas keep the LHN and all of the money from that, so letting ND remain independent for football and letting them keep all of their NBC money seems like the Big XII thing to do.

Actually that would be 6 Big XII schools, Michigan, Michigan State, USC, and Navy. That only leaves two open spots, which they would likely want to fill with more cupcake type programs and not the likes of Miami, FSU, Penn State, Boston College, Georgia Tech, Nebraska, Pitt, Stanford, and other traditional rivals. I think they would also want a guarantee that they would not have to play Oklahoma and Texas in the same season, although the smartest way to do this would be the have ND play all of the teams in one division for two years, them everyone in the other division the next two years if the Big XII gets back to 12 teams.

    6 games against the Big 12, plus Michigan-Michigan State-USC?

Notre Dame, welcome to bowl ineligibility.

ND sees the Big 12 as alot less competitive than the Big 10 so yeah they will prolly jump in. WhoTF thought letting WVU into the B12 was a good idea? How does WVU market benefit the B12 in the slightest? TX and OK will jump off this sinking ship w/in 2 yrs.

Oops. Apparently the SEC website had a welcome page for Missouri with details that included Missouri would begin next year. It says, "...Mike Slive announced Monday."

Shame for L'ville (and perhaps Cincy). The Big 12 must be certain Texas plans on staying there, or else in a few years it is going to look very, very foolish.

And now, again, maybe, WVU's departure is official according to the BE commish:

    Love Rick Pitino's delusions.
"If Louisville had left the Big East was over. Nobody was going to come in. I told him to be fired up and go get those teams."

Notre Dame and Purdue have played every year since WWII. I'd guess that one would be more likely to be continued than MSU.

Maybe Purdue is one of the cupcake type programs :p

Purdue is freaking garbage. They should try to get into the SEC so they can find a way to be ranked 2-3 times per year.
