LOL, what was Pryor's Wonderlic score?dwccrew;911406 wrote:I think the academic standards at Ohio State would limit some of the thugs that would be recruited. Some of the thug players that went to Florida would not be eligible academically to get in to a Big Ten school. -

It was significantly higher than the 7 reported. The official score wasn't released.Speedofsand;911555 wrote:LOL, what was Pryor's Wonderlic score? -

Not entirely true...Michigan had a 5 star SS who was denied enrollment due to academicskaren lotz;911440 wrote:No clue, but the rankings have been used by many Big Ten fans to support their argument about any academic issues. Every school makes some kind of concession on admittance of athletes. -

He didn't say that every school admits every single athlete. One example of a guy who was denied doesn't mean they never make exceptions for athletes.ksig489;911677 wrote:Not entirely true...Michigan had a 5 star SS who was denied enrollment due to academics -

That doesn't mean they can let everyone in, just that they lower the standards for athletes. Just curious, where did this SS end up?ksig489;911677 wrote:Not entirely true...Michigan had a 5 star SS who was denied enrollment due to academics -

LOL, I didn't know the Wonderlic was the standard test for college admissions (not to mention Pryor scored higher than the 7 that was reported). Clown.Speedofsand;911555 wrote:LOL, what was Pryor's Wonderlic score? -

SpeedofsandWonderlic is a standard intelligence test, just not for college admission. You guys been hatin' on Pryor since last Dec. and you know damn well he is a dumbass. Your star player. What an example of how intelligent a Buckeye must be for academic admission. 7 or not, you have no room to talk trash about college standards when you have quotes like his about Vick. Most schools have exceptions. F$U has more 'special needs' student athletes than any school I've heard of.

Pryor is a dumbass and most likely an arrogant prick -- but he's not stupid. He regularly got good grades (above a 3.0 by all accounts) and was never in any academic difficulties.Speedofsand;914200 wrote:Wonderlic is a standard intelligence test, just not for college admission. You can't confuse arrogance with intelligence. Smart crooks hang themselves all the time because their own arrogance leads them to believe they'll never get caught. I have no doubt Pryor probably thought the same way when accepting extra benefits. -

The Wonderlic is NOT an intelligence test. An intelligence test gauges what someone knows. The Wonderlic is an aptitude test, which gauges a person's ability to learn and problem solve. Big difference.Speedofsand;914200 wrote:Wonderlic is a standard intelligence test, just not for college admission. Automatiklol....what does Pryor have to do w/ this thread?
I've been thinking....what does everyone think will happen regarding our current coaching staff next season and after they make a hire?
Will the current staff stay on? Fickell and co. I say clean house. -

I think the head coach for the 2012 season, whoever it may be, makes all the staffing deicisons and the admin stays out of it.Automatik;914302 wrote:lol....what does Pryor have to do w/ this thread?

If Fickell hangs onto the job, I think Bollman, Tressel, and possibly Heacock will be gone. They just don't seem like the "Fickell" type. I think Luke will want an aggressive staff to match his personality. After the Akron game, I thought we were going to see an attacking defense, but they haven't done much blitzing since. Bollman just speaks for himself, having possibly the least creative offense in CFB. I think Drayton, Vrabel(obviously), Johnson, and Haynes would stay on.Automatik;914302 wrote:lol....what does Pryor have to do w/ this thread?

AutomatikI've been wanting Bollman gone since my days working at the Blackwell. He's an old grumpy dick. Time to move on.
-
Y-Town SteelhoundEven if they do bring on a new coach, I would hope they would try to keep Vrabel on the staff. Guy is great for recruiting.
-
vball10setIMO, Luke Fickell was never seriously considered for this job. His lack of head coaching experience made this too big for him, but because of the timing of JT's resignation, and being that the administration needed a conduit that's familiar with the program until next season, I believe they gave him this grand stage to audition for a HC job elsewhere....and maybe come back to THE OSU in the future.
My prediction for next season's coach? Urban Meyer, with a completely new staff (maybe keeping Vrabel) -

Luke won't be seriously considered for the job. I don't think any decision one way or another has been made. I think he'll definitely be interviewed. What happens if Meyer isn't interested or is he interviews and says no? You then have to interview others. Even though this is Ohio State it's possible that their first or second choice may not be interested and Fickell then becomes the top guy on the list of candidates and is offered the job. Let's also remember that even though some other big time schools have promoted a coordinator to head coach with success usually those guys have had years of experience as coordinators at major schools (JimBo Fisher is the first name that comes to mind, and he had been an offensive coordinator for over 10 years at LSU, where he won a title, and at Florida State). Let's remember that Fickell has never been a coordinator by himself and that he had only been a co-coordinator for 4 years before being named head coach.vball10set;914333 wrote:IMO, Luke Fickell was never seriously considered for this job. I think that Heacock stands the best chance of being retained by a new coach. The defense has been the strongest aspect of this team for the past decade, he's been coaching at OSU for 13 years, and the defense has statistically been the best in school history since he took over as coordinator, with no significant statistical improvement when Fickell was named his co-coordinator.
As far as who OSU's next coach will be, Urban Meyer is the obvious choice, but I think that this school can (and should) make phone calls to a lot of people to gauge their interest. These are the names that, in my opinion, OSU should at least give a courtesy call.
Urban Meyer
Nick Saban
Jon Gruden
Bo Pelini
Bob Stoops
Pete Carol
Mark Dantonio
Darryl Hazel
Now I know that some of these people will say "thanks, but no thanks" and at least one we probably shouldn't even call (Carol), but all of these guys have ties to Ohio and/or Ohio State, so I think that the school owes it to itself to call the biggest names possible since this is one of the biggest jobs in college football, if not the biggest. -
LJThe school owes it to itself to NOT call Carroll, not not mention Carroll, to not even look at t a picture of Carroll
