  I don't have Twitter, but some are saying Forde has now backtracked on the whole letter thing -- admitting that he had the dates screwed up. I'm sure that was tough for him to do since his mouth is so full of bile most of the time. It's obvious, though, that the leak is in the NCAA. If I were them, I wouldn't be happy about that.

  I think there's a lot to this. Most of those schools were seemingly trying to argue a case and limit the amount of damage the committee would impose. Coming into this hearing, it was pretty cut-and-dry - there was really only one issue and that was Tressel's lie(s). There wasn't really anyone else to explore or any actions that needed clarified. OSU stumbled through the handling of its self-imposed punishments initially, but their ahead-of-the-curve approach was absolutely the best move.
  
  It seems they went into this meeting equipped with two things that are likely uncommon in these things. They could say, "yes, we did all of this," and "look at all these extremes to which we've gone to address it." I've thought since they announced it that the vacating of wins was a genius move because the NCAA views that as a major punishment, but it keeps the penalties in the past with little impact on the future. Obviously, losing Tressel is the worst thing that could've happened, so taking that step proactively kind of leaves the NCAA without any powerful statement to make, even if they wanted to. I mean, is taking away a couple scholarships really going to show OSU they better not mess with the NCAA again?
  
  Note that LSU was recently commended for its compliance and cooperation and the NCAA actually reduced some of their self-imposed penalties while doing little else. The only real debate for OSU fans is going to be, did they have to fire Tressel - is that what enabled the NCAA to go light or could they have achieved the same thing by suspending him for a year or something (someone has mentioned that alternative before)?

  Demetrious Stanley has seen the ones Torg has seen and it sounds like more of a drinking/drug use thing than more trading memorabilia thing. He just kept talking about PR problems, not NCAA problems.

  If it's a drug issue, I'd think the players would either 1) be suspended for the year, or 2) kicked off the team. It's not like OSU players would be the first in the NCAA to have a run in with drugs. As far as "sanctions" go, I don't think there's anything the NCAA can do. I'm pretty sure being an idiot doesn't put the team at an advantage, it gets you suspended/kicked offed.

  How were the guys in the SI article supposedly cleared by the NCAA? Would it mean anything if they were originally cleared simply because nothing could be proven at the time? And if the pictures turn out to be some of the guys that were cleared, would that issue be re-opened or at the least, would it lend credence to the report? Just asking, not assuming.

  That's what I'm thinking. Not much in the way of actual trouble for the university. Guess we shall see what Mr. Ellis has, if his silence isn't bought before Thursday.

  Ask Storm Klein and others who were named in SI articles later to be cleared about big men. The fact they were cleared didn't make the cover of SI.

  I predict there's nothing his photos can show that will cause any more NCAA issues for OSU. The only reason "Ellis" is doing his -- after feigning fear to the point he wouldn't testify without some kind of anonymity by the NCAA -- is because SI cut him a big, fat check. They want his information out there, whether it leads to NCAA sanctions or not.
  
  They put out a total smear piece on JT and OSU, and this would go along with that effort.
