Where did I say recruiting would be the same?thedynasty1998;839900 wrote:What makes each of those guys better recruiters than Tressel?
And how quickly we forget how well Cooper recruited.
You implied that this situation is worse than USCs by the violations, not what may happen with recruiting in the future. Even if you were talking about recruiting, USC's has taken a hit as well.

Didn't mean to quote you on that. But yes, I do think what happened at OSU is worse. -

Just because the punishment likely won't be as severe doesn't mean I can't have the opinion that it's worse. I've explained why previously. -

Where did I say Fickell was one of the top coaches in the country? I said a step down from Tressel would still be one of the top coaches in the country. You stated Fickell was "at least" a step down from Tressel, not me. These two statements are mutually exclusive. Silly Michigan fans. -

Well clearly 5 is worse than 34, especially worse because Ohio State's only happened in football which is worse than happening in football AND basketball.
The fact that the above is Dynasty's thought process shows me pretty much all I need to know.... -

I'm sorry, but knowingly playing 5 ineligible players for an entire season and not going forward is worse than one players receiving benefits in which the head coach wasn't aware of (yes I know someone likely knew of the money, buy it wasn't proven as in the OSU case). -

USC knowingly played Bush after putting him up with over $100,000 in improper benefits. #Fail. -
SportsAndLadyYeah Pete Carroll had noooo idea his star player is $100,000 richer....come.the.fuck.on.

TiernanLuke Fickell's personal achievements of winning 3 straight undefeated HS state wrestling championships, 1 HS State football championship and not missing a start in 50 straight games at OSU show the level of commitment this man brings to the job. Given a fair chance (and that means being allowed to lose possibly 3 games...the same 3 games Tressel would have probably lost this year) Luke could make alot of folks forget who Jim Tressel ever was in this town 3 - 5 yrs down the road. I know this man and Fire & Brimstone are back on the sidelines at OSU people. Luke is an old school up in your face football coach, something that Tressel never was and it evenually caught up with him as the players lacked personal discipline off the field. Fickell will not tolerate that and he is glad a lockeroom cancer like Pryor is gone.

Do you always talk out of your ass, or do you genuinely believe what you say?In essence, the NCAA determined that by speaking to Lake, a convicted felon who was reportedly in the process of setting up a marketing firm, McNair knew about extra benefits given to Bush. -

I am hoping that Fickell will be like some other former Tressel assistants that have moved on to the HC job and had success like Dantonio at UC and MSU and Beckman at Toledo. Maybe Fickell will be the next one?
This is implying Fickell will be one of the best in the country? I was responding to your follow up post to the above quote. What you perceive the post to be is not reality. I never stated, nor do I think, that Fickell will be or is one of the top coaches in the country at this point in time.Hb31187;840366 wrote:You def implied it, silly OSU fan.
What I responded to was you saying that Fickell was most likely a step down from Tressel. I then said that even a step down from Tressel is still one of the top coaches in the country. That is not implying Fickell is one of the best in the country since I never said Fickell is a step down from Tressel, you in fact said that, which is why you made the wrong assumption about my post. Right now Fickell is much further than a step down until he proves otherwise, which he may in fact do but that is yet to be seen. -
WriterbuckeyeThe USC assistant coach knew about Bush -- which is why he got a show cause penalty. So don't say nobody knew at USC.
And comparing the two situations is ridiculous. USC obfuscated and delayed doing anything for years...Ohio State invited the NCAA in to investigate as soon as it was known that Tressel did not come forward with what he knew about the players as early as he should have.
That's a huge difference. -

ThinthickbigredI just hope they dont kill us in penalties ... I just want this to get behind us ... Ohio state football is too important for this state ... If there is one thing 99% of all us Ohioans love its Ohio state football .. many of us like the Steelers...or the Browns ..or the Bengals .. or even the Cowboys .. but Buckeyes are Ohio's true love and we pretty much all love them

I'm sorry, but if you're going to try and make this argument...at least make it CORRECTLY. Ohio State knowingly played 2 ineligible players, not 5...only 2 were mentioned in the emails that Tressel got, the rest weren't discovered until everyone else knew. I actually feel sorry for you dynasty, you can't even get your facts right! -

That's just not true. I love OSU basketball and really enjoy OSU football. But I'm also critical.
I thought that only two players were originally mentioned and then the others were revealed by Cicero. I may be wrong on that, but regardless the head coach knowingly played two ineligible players every single game. Maybe it's just me but that is really disturbing. It's one thing to not want to know and not ask questions, it's another to know and discuss it with some dude from Pennsylvania.Writerbuckeye;840816 wrote:Which makes him and ideal candidate to become a writer for SI or ESPiN. -
