Of course not, but if the job is offered to Urban, there is no way shelley is the one standing in his way. If I could bet you on that I would.

    Urban's statement:
Urban Meyer statement on today’s OSU news: I am committed to ESPN and will not pursue any coaching opportunities this fall. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with the people at ESPN this spring and remain very excited about my role with the network this fall.

Jim Tressel has been a respected friend and colleague for a long time. I wish Jim and his family the very best now and in the future
    "This fall" used twice.

Haha I thought that was interesting when he said "this fall" as well...we'll see what happens.

All I asked for was a link. Now you're the type of person that instead of arguing back and forth without actually providing a link, you'll actually provide a link.

So show me a link where the NCAA said that, thank you.

You guys are incredible. I'm not ignorant to the possibility of the stuff coming in the future, something I stated on the first page dwwcrew (maybe you need the reading comprehension help).

But Webfire said it had been discussed, which I interpreted to mean discussed before the NCAA released their notice of allegations, which is the statement I asked for proof about because I don't believe it.

Nothing more, nothing less. All I did was ask for a link and it turned into a shitstorm because webfire refused to do so.

Beckman from Toledo would be a great hire!

If the current players want Fickell to be their head coach in '12, there's only one thing they gotta' do (with respect to Al Davis)....just WIN, baby!!!

I dont care if they want that or not. I dont want emotional 21 year old kids deciding the future of the program. How did the emotional hire of an interim coach work for WVU?

Perform a real coaching search please

You are just twisting what I said to make yourself look right. I never said anything about anything being before their notice. I refused to waste time finding links to something that didn't need proof.

Agree. Fickell seems like a great guy, has tons of respect, etc, etc. BUT he has NEVER been a head coach. I am sure he will be evaluated in many different aspects, as well as how the team performs next year. But there is SO, SO much more to being the head coach at a place like OSU than just showing up on Sat. and winning games.

And you misinterpreted what he was stating; so as I said, your reading comprehension needs work.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a new AD also. I think OSU has to show as much effort on their part to clean up the program as possible; before the overlords @ the NCAA get involved. The HC position may gpo to Fickell... if he can handle everything that goes with it. The problem with that is this: Can he recruit? OSU may very well have to go out and get a big name coach to handle that aspect of the HC position. The chances of getting another unknown coach like JT and having similar results is very slim. Losing scholarships would only make the situation much, much worse, if that actually happens. If the NCAA comes down hard... getting a well known name to come to OSU is virtually gauranteed not to happen.

Fickell has a lot of talent compared to the competition this year, if he can put it all together he will be you coach. I see no reason why OSU can't go 11-1. I can also see 9-3, but 9-3 would be a dissapointment. imo.

I'll bet you a thousand dollars right now...no questions asked that they come NOWHERE near 11-1

You can't be serious can you?

8-4 or 9-3 is the best they are going to be able to hope for
  • georgemc80
    Seriously Ty,

The roster is heads and shoulders more talented than the vast majority of their opponnents. Many OSU "2s" are better than other program's ones.

11-1 would be difficult and an amazing feat, however, the same bet in 2002 going 14-0 would have netted smart people big time bucks.

Ive said this about Michigan and was proven wrong by the slimebag, but the helmet wins 8 games. If he has any luck and makes the right decisions, 2-3 more wins seem possible.

so let's bet then, 1000 dollars that the bucks go 9-3 or better

LOL they will not go worse then 9-3. 11-1 is definately possible.

Sat, Sep 03 Akron Columbus, Ohio WIN

Sat, Sep 10 Toledo Columbus, Ohio WIN

Sat, Sep 17 Miami (Fla.) at Miami, Fla. Miami's QB situation is in flux, their defense lost a lot. OSU's D will dominate this game.
Sat, Sep 24 Colorado Columbus, Ohio WIN

Sat, Oct 01 Michigan State * Columbus, Ohio Their D has a lot to improve, their offense is one dimensional. They got a favorable schedule last year and succeeded with it.

Sat, Oct 08 Nebraska * at Lincoln, Neb. Tough game, but winable. They lost a lot on defense and offense.
    ABC, ESPN or ESPN2

Sat, Oct 15 Illinois * at Champaign, Ill Tough game again, lost Laushoure, but their defense lost a lot too.

Sat, Oct 29 Wisconsin * Columbus, Ohio At home, new Wiscy QB. Will be a tough game.

Sat, Nov 05 Indiana * Columbus, Ohio WIN!

Sat, Nov 12 Purdue * at West Lafayette, Ind. WIN! They are clearly still rebuilding.

Sat, Nov 19 Penn State * Columbus, Ohio Their QB situation is terrible their coaching staff is a mess, will be a close game but I think we win because we are at home.

Sat, Nov 26 Michigan * at Ann Arbor, Mich. This game is the most intruging. I was not impressed by their spring game offense, but their defense appeared to be playing much better. In the end they don't have the playmakers on D that they need yet. We still beat em easy.

Sat, Dec 03 Big Ten Championship Game * at Indianapolis, Ind. TBA

    * Conference Games

So Wisonsin and Nebraska will be two of the toughest games which OSU may not be favored in. Every other game OSU should be the favorite. So please tell me how you see OSU's season going.

    Akron W
    Toledo W
    Miami L
    Colorado ?
    Michigan St L
    Nebraska L
    Illinois W
    Wisconsin ?
    Indiana W
    Purdue W
    Penn State ?
    Michigan ?

OK,looking at (IMO opinion) lock wins/losses,I have them going 5-3 with 4 toss ups

    Looking at the tossups:

Colorado-With those 5 players out, plus potentially more players suspended, this could be a competeitive game. But I still see Ohio State winning so 6-3

Wisconsin-They will have all those players back..but this is pretty much the same Ohio State defense that got totally shredded by Wisconsin. Wisconsin wins..so 6-4

Penn State-Depending on how Penn State plays, they could win this game. I really can't decide on this game so potentially 7-4 or 6-5

Michigan-Depending on how fast they pick up Brady Hoke's offense,I think this may be the year Michigan gets the monkey off their back and beats Ohio State. potentially 7-5 or 6-6

I think Ohio State ends up 7-5
  • WebFire
Keep in mind the may be going the whole season with a true freshman QB.
  • georgemc80
Miami, Colorado, Penn State are lock wins, so you are wrong there. Again, the helmet wins 8 games by itself. I am sorry UM couldn't do that, but the program has an infinite amount of talent compared to UM three years ago.

Only potential trap games are Nebraska, Wisconsin, and maybe...maybe Michigan.

Miami is a lock win without Pryor,Herron,Posey, and Adams? And maybe potentially John Simon?

I want some of what you're smoking

I hate to say I agree here. Definitely not a lock. Doesn't mean the can't and won't win. But a lock? I think not.
