Possible HC replacements at OSU?

Boise is going to a hearing for lack of institutional control and Ohio State is not. I guess your hatred of OSU has led you to a land of ignorance.
Like has been stated before...if nothing new comes out, you wont have to worry about any new sanctions. BUT...if rumors are true that there is more to come, the NCAA can change their list of infractions. There are all kinds of rumors about paid vacations for players and families and so on. If these things were given out as a way to sign a recruit...then it could be REAL bad for OSU. If nothing new comes out...I dont see the NCAA hitting them too hard. I do see forfeiture of last season, a small amount of reduced scholarships, and maybe a 1 year post season ban at most. -
ptown_trojans_1Part of me really thinks it will be someone obscure.
I'm not sold that Meyer is coming to OSU. -
zach24ozFickell will be the guy for this season and then I see Meyer coming to be the head man for 2012. Is it too late to bring in a new head coach in June and to have him clean house and bring in coaches he wants? They would have about 2 1/2months to get their systems down and running.

Not that I think it would be a good idea, but I am surpirsed that Larry Kehres has not been mentioned in this same light. -
vball10setunfortunately we don't have a thread dedicated to OSU fans regarding this topic, because a lot of these tsun & ND subway alums get on here spewing their bullshit just to stir the pot....BUT, that's their prerogative, so let 'em (and for the record, I said "a lot", NOT ALL!!!!)
that being said, here's my wish list:
Fickell (interim)
Meyer (ex-Florida)
B. Stoops (Oklahoma)
Pelini (Nebraska)
Beckman (Toledo) -
WriterbuckeyeAs of RIGHT NOW, sanctions like loss of scholarships and bans will likely not be part of the punishment because -- as stated above -- lack of institutional control or failure to monitor aren't part of what is being alleged by the NCAA.
Could that change? Sure.
I think there's a lot of wishful thinking on the part of anti-OSU people here. They really, really, really want OSU set back because it will allow whatever program they root for to have an advantage...for a while. -

I'm aware. But as it stands nothing new has come out and webfire is wrong. OSU's compliance department is one of the best in the country we're not getting hit with lack of institutional control or failure to monitor. -
jordo212000Urban Meyer or Jon Gruden would be fine by me. I'll pass on Stoops and then I don't think Patterson would be a good fit.

And thats what the anti OSU people forget...OSU uncovered this, and reported it immediately. They also reported Tressel when they found the emails. USC fought the NCAA. Completely different situation IMO. I mean, no one knows what the NCAA will do. And I am not naive enough to say they definately will drill OSU. But right now, I'd be surprised. -

I'm completely with you, but let's remember that there is probably a reason that Tress was forced to resign today. There is a SI article coming out soon and there might be more to come. Stay tuned. -

Tress met with the NCAA in November and they asked him if he was aware of any infractions and he said "No" (when he actually knew of some. That's a big time no-no) -
KR1245You guys think we could get a guy like Joe Pa in here? He's got a few good years left in him

And your point is what? We all know Tressel lied, multiple times. OSU was not aware. When they become aware, they reported it. Tressel is now gone. OSU, acted as they should when they became aware of the situation. -

More will come out. I'm sure of it. But not enough to hit us with lack of institutional control or failure to monitor.
Let's not forget USC was hit with it because of violations in the basketball program too. Boise wasn't hit because of football, but because of multiple sports. It takes a TON to be hit with that. I can see more stuff coming out meaning violations could be longer/harsher than we think, but we WILL NOT get lack of institutional control or failure to monitor. If we do I will personally start a thread saying Webfire was right and I was wrong, but as of now he's 100% wrong. -

Tress is gone in an effort to save face. This is what they should have done from the get go if they wanted leniency from the NCAA. However, with that being said, Ohio State's head coach deliberately tried to bamboozle the NCAA and for that there will be a punishment. -

Shut up now troll.
Ok, you said they couldn't be charged with LOIC because the allegations came out without it. THIS IS FALSE. You're link only showed that the current allegations didn't have it in there. I never disagreed with that.
The absolutely 100% can still be charged with LOIC with any further investigation and allegations.
Come back when you have something to show me. SMH. -
SpeedofsandMeyer - not gonna happen. OSU will get what amounts to a slap on the wrist. All the violations are out there. No LOIC has ever been spoken of. If Fickell is permanent, does the program culture continue or can he clean it up? Plenty of good outside coaches will apply. When will a decision be made? It looks like OSU could wrap this up by Dec. and name a perm. coach to work toward recruiting day Feb 2012.

Wrong about what? Cannot you not read?
You stated OSU COULD NOT get LOIC because the allegations were out. I said you were wrong. And I am correct. I think you have confused yourself on what you are even talking about. -

Don't buy that. After the Jim O'Brien issue, OSU wanted to make sure they had all their bases covered before doing anything. And again, Tressel pissed off Smith by not stepping to the podium and sincerely apologizing as he was supposed to do. It took Tress a month to apologize publicly. The news conference was the beginning to the end for Tressel at OSU IMO. -

I'll admit they could. But I seriously doubt it. OSU, the university has acted swiftly and immediately upon finding out the issues. It was Tressel himself who attempted to cover things up. OSU has cooperated fully. USC fought the allegations. And it was going on all over the athletic department, not just one sport. I highly doubt the NCAA slaps OSU with LOIC. I think you would even admit to this. -
Speedofsandytown, It would leave a bad taste in my mouth. But that is not why Meyer will not be the next OSU coach.

I agree. I never said they would get LOIC. Just was pointing out the they can still get it despite the allegations.
I posted earlier somewhere, that if the sanctions were handed down today, very little to no additional punishment would be handed down. If more comes out (re: SI story) and the NCAA digs up more, then additional punishment could be handed down.
But ihslep is so focused on me being a Michigan fan that he only hears what he wants. -
