Terrelle Pryor and the Supplmental Draft?

Everybody is getting their cut of the $millions that student athletes generate...except the kids themselves. Lots of people making their living off these kids....and of course , making sure they follow the 400+ page rulebook lest they bear the full weight of an NCAA punishment.....a punishment that far exceeds the crime in many cases.
Everybody is making money off the kids...the universities, the NCAA compliance officers..the NCAA officials...even the college coaches are getting paid( BIG BUCKS too). But who is reporesenting the kids? Certainly not their 'agents' LOL....they can't have any. Is that rule convienient or what?

It brings us to the old ethics question of whether you are obligated to follow an unjust rule. If you are driving down a 4 lane divided highway, and the posted speed limit is 25 MPH...the conditions are good and there is not another car on the highway. If you drive 35 are you a criminal? Should you have your license taken away for HALF A YEAR?? ...of course not. You endangered no one, but you did technically violate the law...and now some little backwater town is going to extract its pound of flesh.

Yet this is exactly the kind of thing that the NCAA gets away with.If you want to challenge the NCAA...you have to appeal to the body who made the law in the first place....or you have to sue them in a court of law....and that is exactly what TP and others should do. By taking away their eligibility for 5 games, the NCAA could be costing them thousands if not millions of dollars, depending where they slot in the pro draft.

I wish this story was true. Add me to the group that thinks TP has wore out his welcome. I have a feeling that this tattoo/mentor/loaner car stuff is going to explode once we get closer to the season starting.

SportsAndLady;738397 wrote:The only people wearing out his welcome (that phrase itself is old fashioned and outdated) are OLD, old-school Buckeye fans--fans who do not realize the game is changing; that no longer are certain sports players "heroes" in Americans' eyes. Just because he is the QB at OSU does not mean he has to live his life the way you old school people want him to. So what, he's been cited a few times by the police? So what, he says some stupid shit via twitter and other social networking sites? You're going to discredit the fact that he has won multiple BCS games and could possibly go down as the best QB in Ohio State's history just because you don't like the way he acts off the field? (if he wins a title this, he will be considered the best and it won't be close). By the way, you only hear about the bad stuff now a days. News outlets don't report stories like LJ's story because that isn't "spicy" that's not going to get them the ratings they need. They only report the bad stuff...thus throwing off the perception of said player...and perception is reality, unfortunately.

I appreciate your sublety, S&L, and as I've said before, you're entitled to your opinion...however, coming from someone that has been exposed numerous times on this site for having a limited knowledge of college football (well, actually, football in general), I realize it'd be futile to argue with you the fine line the quarterback of THE OSU walks between a stat machine and the label of GOAT. Again, I'll wait and see how this season plays out before passing final judgement.

    HAHA

So I don't know what mike, sam, and will is, and that means I have poor football knowledge? Not that I really give a fuck, but what gives you the impression that I don't know much about football other than the MSW thing?

By the way, Pryor already, right now, is one of the most successful QBs OSU has ever had...and he's done it with stats (whereas the usual successful QBs just have a great team around him..aka Krenzel) and making plays on his own. You are as ignorant as they come if you don't recognize that just because you don't like his character.

Will, Mike, and Sam is pretty basic shit. You are a soccer player right? Just look at it this way, there can be somebody like me who enjoys soccer, and has knowledge of the players, teams, how leagues function, and a good amount of what is going on the field. There are also parts of the game that I will be completely oblivious to, because I never played the game beyond 4th grade. Same approach for you for football. I.E. if the defense blows up the offense's attempt at running the triple option, could you break it down and explain how they broke up the play?

Because if you can't , then you obviously aren't a football fan. Gtgo.
You don't need to be able to break down film to be knowledgeable about the game. That's just retarded.

What is GTGO? Anyway, I wasn't saying he isn't or can't be a football fan at all. Did you even read the whole post? I even used myself as an example as a soccer fan. GTGO!

Pryor has been largely boom or bust while he has been at Ohio State. He has largely put up the majority of his numbers against bad teams. There is also about 2-3 games a year that he appears to be out of position at the QB spot.

He's a great college player who largely gets by because he is a superior athlete, surrounded by superior talent. He also is a complete dunce.

You cannot argue with his statistics, which is what I'm saying. I'm not saying he's the best, I'm saying his numbers are going to put him near the top for most successful QB at OSU.

Look I'm not saying i'm Lumbardi with the Xs and Os.

All I'm saying is I know enough about football to realize Terrelle Pryor is going to be one of, if not the most successful QB at OSU.
  • devil1197
Terrelle has proven himself on the field.

Big Ten titles, multiple BCS Bowl wins and MVP's.

Now, for all the sanctions going on at OSU and at the other schools. The system is broke and until you fix it, that being the NCAA, then you'll have teams pushing the boundaries. The NCAA has let teams run wild for years knowing what they were doing, but now all of the sudden their trying to play law and order? Doesn't work that way.

True. His stats rank very high in comparison to other Buckeye QBs, but one also needs to consider our history in developing quarterbacks. Only until recently have we began to get on par with other colleges in terms of the quarterbacking position

The kid is undefeated vs Michigan. Hes 2-1 in BCS games with a Rose Bowl and Sugar Bowl MVP. I think we are starting to get a little spoiled at OSU when thats no longer good enough.

Anyways, sounds like its just a rumor. I'm pretty sure Pryor wouldnt even be eligible for the supplemental draft

    Sounds like a rumor. . .

Pryor's Twitter: "I'll be suited up at Lincoln Nebraska !! And first player at QB to meet with the Wolverines for the fourth time!!"

4 time Michigan beater...that's gotta automatically put him as one of the most successful lol

I just don't see how anyone can say they'll be happy when TP is gone from a football stand point. He's been outstanding. He's not a great passer and sometimes it's not pretty, but he has won games while putting up impressive numbers. 3 Big Ten titles, 2 BCS bowl wins, 2 BCS MVP awards, and ridiculous stats. Sure he hasn't brought a national title home, but get real, QB's with a national title to their name is few and far between.

He beat Rich Rodriguez 3 times. Not that hard to do! :p

yes...and for the record, I never said he wouldn't be considered a successful QB--I said his legacy at THE OSU would be influenced not only by what he does on the field, but also by what happens when all this tattoogate shit shakes out. And, btw, if you seriously believe that TP has done all this "on his own" and has "done it with stats" (whatever the hell that means), then you truly are the ignorant one. Stick to Jayhawk basketball, S&L- at least you sound less ignorant when discussing them.

note: if you don't think off the field issues influence a QB's legacy, I've got two words for you: Art Schlichter
