I was also not aware that Cincy had to replace a boat load of starters on defense. People who write this team off had better thing again, they have talent and IMO will hang with whom ever they are matched up against in their bowl game.
I wish I could have been there. Can you feel your feet yet? lol

Gilyard is a Senior and will be missed for sure. However we still have Woods (So), Binns (Jr.), and will be introducing Vidal Hazelton (Sr.) transfer from USC next year. Our Receivers may be even better next year than this year but our special teams will be hurting.

I don't think anyone in college football this year has a great offense.

I'm not knocking Cinci, they have a PRETTY GOOD offense. And if I'm saying I don't think any college football offense is great this year then that pretty much means I think Cinci has a offense that I would say is among the top 15.

You all think overrated instantly means bad. That's not my fault.

What kind of question is that? You do watch CFB, do you? Texas is pretty good, maybe Oregon.
Haha sorry knutne wasn't talking to you, was referring to the post above yours.

Well, then in the last 5 years What offense would you consider Great?

goosebumbs, sorry, I deleted that post after I figured out it wasn't directed at me.;)

Yeah, the feeling has finally come back in my feet.

Don't know if you guys saw on TV but after Gilyard's kick return for a TD he was literally puking on the sideline because he was so hyper afterwards.
  • goosebumps
They didn't show that part on TV, but its not the first time he's thrown up on the sidelines lol. Im pretty sure he threw up after a TD return against Oklahoma last year

Well for one, Arkansas has a pretty damned good offense this year, it's their defense that's let them down.

In 2005 Texas and USC had great offenses
In 2006 no one had a great offense (OSU was exposed against Florida, but up until that point they played pretty well)
In 2007 no one had a great offense (Florida's was probably the best though, along with West Virginia)
In 2008 Florida had a great offense
In 2009 no one has a great offense

If you've noticed I have a pretty strict definition of great, because there's so much stat padding in NCAA football that you can't just look at stats.

It's been proven that you are a joke. Whatever you think means absolutely nothing.

^^ And how exactly has that happened? I'm one of probably only a few people on here that talks about sports to someone other than myself and a bunch of people on internet boards, I broadcast, and I've gotten a lot of positive feedback about my commentary.

So how exactly am I a joke? Because I don't think Cincinnati's offense is great?

So you go and make a thread mocking me, but I'm a joke.

I guess though, because you took away my right to an opinion, that I'm a joke, and you're clearly the most brilliant man alive.

When you started this ignorant thread you said that UC's offense finally played a "good" defense and were getting exposed.

So UC decided to score 45 points on what you called a good defense, those were your own words. Good offenses dont score 45 points on good defenses, Great ones do.

Good job on your positive feedback. That still doesn't mean your opinion means anything. GTFO!

I think everyone on this board knows where I stand on this issue. Let's recap the year:

Pre-Season Huddle: UC will lose 4-5 games this year.
Intra-Season Huddle: UC will still lose 3-4 games
Last month: UC will lose 2-3 games.
Last two weeks: UC will lose their last two games.
Last week: Pitt will expose UC.
Now: UC will get spanked in their bowl.

How does it feel to be so wrong so often? LOL!

I mean, even if UC gets whipped in a bowl, it took you how many chances of being right?
  • lhslep134
First of all let's disect this game really quick so you can understand where I'm coming from. Like I said, UC still has a good offense, but I guess that's irrelevant to you.

7 points scored on special teams. Not offensive points
3 drives started at own 35 or closer, that's great field position
Mardy Gilyard had a 68 yd TD catch on broken, awful coverage

Cincinnati had exactly 4 drives of 7 or more plays. That will not happen against a great defense, or even a pretty good one. So it is my opinion that Pittsburgh defense played awful moreso than Cincinnati played great.

Now, is Pitt still a good defense? Yes. Is Cinci a good offense? Yes.

Let's look at what happened last year when the two quickest striking offenses played in bowl games.

    Oklahoma put up 14
    Texas put up 24

Those were 2 of the top 5 offenses in the country last year, exposed in bowl games by fast athletic defenses, of which Cinci has played 0 this year. I wouldn't classify Pitt's as fast and athletic.

All I'm saying is in a game where Cinci plays a great defense, let's say, in the BCS game this year. They can't put up 24 points and expect to win.

If Cinci plays Florida or TCU in the BCS game, and wins, I will gladly eat crow.

But it's still my opinion that I was underwhelmed by Cinci's offense, and definitely overwhelmed by Gilyard's play.

    Your opinion: Cinci great offense
    My opinion: Cinci good offense

    Great > good

Therefore, I think Cinci's offense is overrated.

    Sometimes you are just wrong.

lol.....that first post and end result of the game at 45-44 is classic.
  • jordo212000
Haha, I'm not saying that Arkansas has a bad offense (they are very good) I just couldn't help but laugh that they and their whole 7 wins are what LHSlep would consider to be the premier offense in 2009.
  • lhslep134
^^^ And it's the offenses fault that their defense blows?
  • trep14
This subjective definition of what a good offense is and what a great offense is laughable. Whether or not you think their offense is "good" or "great", the fact of the matter is Cincy has scored points in bunches this year and just hung 45 on a good defense...something a great offense would do. Their offense has singlehandily carried them to an undefeated record... I don't see what is overrated about that.

Someone might have started talking shit a little to early LOL

    UC 45 points on a "top 20" D
