Should Jim Tressel Step Down?
-
vball10setIn light of the revelations during the last 48 hours, combined with the fact that he had held back info while at YSU, along with the perceived hypocrisy in how he handled the players involved back in December (along with his "messages of integrity" he conveyed in his book), is it time for Coach Tressel to take the high road and resign from his position at The Ohio State University?
As much as I still admire the guy (a little less today, however), and as much a it hurts me to say this, I think this would be the best move for TOSU -
OneBuckeyeNo, because he is the one getting punished. If he steps down the NCAA is going to punish the program as a whole and Tressel would go scott free. Absolutely not.
-
WriterbuckeyeNo way.

I don't know or quite have a definitive opinion on whether he should step down or not. My immediate reaction is no but what's very interesting to me is what makes up your opinion regarding such a move being the "best" thing for the University.vball10set;704930 wrote:... We do not have the information that the administration at the school has and they seem to at least have expressed through actions that it's best if Mr. Tressel stays. -
jordo212000No as of now, I think it is okay for him to stay. He will be punished... I think it is obvious that he'll be getting more than 2 games. However, I have maintained all along that this has potential to get ugly. I think that if the mud starts slinging, he might be best to just walk away

thedynasty1998Spielman made a good point this morning on Mike and Mike, and said Tressel should have said last night, "I accept the punishment that OSU is handing down to me and would like to add to it". I think Spielman said another 2 games and more money, but I think this would come off better than what happened last night.
As for Tressel resigning, at first I thought no way. Now I'm starting to reconsider. The thing that really bothers me is that Tressel is treating us like we are all morons. His BS last night was laughable. -
SonofanumpYou think Tressel should leave and Chiznik, Miles & Saban are free to carry on?
-
DeyDurkie5no..what he did was wrong no doubt, but he didn't rape anyone. Give the guy a break, he fucked up
-
FatHobbitNo he should not.
He definitely screwed up and I don't think he's as perfect as some people have made him out to be (nobody is) but I don't think this is enough to make me want him to step down. -
queencitybuckeyeThis one's easy - no.

So what happens are Auburn, Alabama and LSU is now acceptable at OSU? I always thought OSU, and the Big 10, held itself to a higher standard. -

I don't know if he should step down or not, but Tressel couldn't have handled it worse and that press conference was a joke. He didn't apologize to anyone. Someone asked him if he thought this would change the perception of him and he replied with something along the lines of "I don't view myself any different when I look in the mirror." Really? -
thedynasty1998Spielman actually said to add one game, and double the fine to $500k
-
gerb131If he left it would fan the flames. I don't think he should this is minor comparitively speaking.
I agree with Spielman another game or 2 and some more cash should be sufficient enough.
Your in the car with drugs makes them your drugs whether you do them or not. -
thedynasty1998Spielman also said that prior to knowing OSU's penalty, he would have made it a 5-6 game suspension and a $500k fine.

No, that's not the issue. It's Tressel lying to the police during the investigation, after being the driver of the car. -
SportsAndLadyDynasty you said Spielman made a good point..meaning you agree with it.
Oh and..Spielman is a retard -

SMH. -
thedynasty1998Sonofanump;705088 wrote:SMH.
WHY? The Big 10 prides itself on the academic standing of it's schools. Ohio State prides itself on it's academic reputation. OSU fans frown upon some of the acceptable practices in the SEC.
You really don't think Ohio State holds itself to a higher standard than Auburn and Alabama? -

Good use of grown up words.
