Week 11: Notre Dame def. (15) Utah, 28-3

  • sherm03
For the fans that stuck with this team through the hard times this season...this win is a GREAT one!

We may be looking back in a few years...and pointing to this game as the one that turned around the fortunes for the Notre Dame program!

    Let's win out, boys!!

Awesome scene with the students coming on the field. Its been a long time coming for ND to play like that against a good team.

Totally agree on all counts. How about all the fans who have stuck with ND through the last decade and a half???? LOL. It hasn't been easy.......but I will NEVER turn my back on the Irish....no matter how bad they are. But today is about how good they were this afternoon.

    IT'S A CELEBRATION, BITCHES!!!!!!

happy for the class of 2011. last year i didn't even bother going on the field on senior day against Connecticut after the game. glad they don't have to make that decision

    Oh I agree!

Utah is by no means a top echelon team. But they were ranked. And Notre Dame beat them soundly. It's been far too long since ND took out ANY ranked team. And they did it today with a lot of young guys who played hard for four straight quarters (something else that hasn't happened yet this year).

It's a great win for the Irish...and a positive note to build on for the rest of the season.

After the loss to Tulsa, people weren't even sure if ND could make a bowl game this year. And they were right to question that. Now, it's not crazy to think that ND could beat Army, and then upset USC and finish the year 7-5 with a bowl bid.

I'm not even going to worry about that right now. Tonight is all about being a happy drunk, instead of my usual Saturday-angry-drunk-self that my wife is accustomed to seeing.

I don't care if it is Utah or not, beating a team that is 8-1 is a GREAT win for Notre Dame, certainly a "must win" for Kelly early in this career there. Well done.

I didn't catch the game. Did ND students/fans storm the field?

It was senior day, and i think that is a tradition at ND? That is my guess.

The students came out onto the field during the Alma Mater to celebrate with the team.

I wouldn't call it "storming the field" because they never got farther than right with the team in the corner by the student section.

Yeah wasn't really a storming of the field and it is a tradition on Senior Day.
  • athlete37
every year the seniors are allowed to go on the field after the last home game and take pictures and what not. even the last two years there have been students on the field (losses to syracuse and connecticut)

It was 17 years ago to the day that #2 Notre Dame defeated eventual Heisman Trophy winner and National Champions Charlie Ward and #1 Florida State 31-24 in "The Game of the Century" in South Bend. The following week, in my opinion, was the beginning of the current downward spiral for Notre Dame as they lost to Boston College 41-39. It just seems like things haven't been the same since. Maybe the demon has been exorcised almost 17 years later with this unlikely victory over a ranked Utah team. Admittedly it's a reach and wishful thinking but who knows. Maybe they've finally turned the corner. I think next week's game against a surprisingly decent (bowl eligible for first time since '96) Army team will tell us a lot. And then the Trojans in SoCal at night the following Saturday night. The next 2 games are huge in terms of momentum for the program.

Great win today...didn't see it coming but I'll take it. :)

This was a pretty big hit to TCU. I'd say you'll see Boise make up some ground on them tomorrow

I just skimmed through the DVR'd game I had after watching Penn State fuck themselves. Notre Dame's defense looked solid, the offense was streaky. Utah had more first downs and offensive yards. Notre Dame had ~130 PASSING yards, in a Brian Kelly offense, and still won. What the fuck. A solid deal of luck for the Irish today and great game plan.

Brian Kelly = winner. ccrunner and sleeper can go fuck themselves.

Beat Army and make a bowl game? Would be FANTASTIC.

LOL Domers go 6-6 and beat Utah and think they are back. Utah isn't even a BCS team, Ohio State has beaten 6 teams this year that are better than Utah, when ND beats a real program I'll give them props.

Might be another 100 years, enjoy your bowl loss domers.

I'm in too good of a mood to let even YOUR stupidity get to me.

Not too surprising, many on here predicted an irish win. Utah, severely overrated, goes from #5 to unranked in two weeks. Wow.

Ohio State wins versus a team currently ranked: 0
Notre Dame wins versus a team currently ranked: 1

I don't know why you're so mad, Ohio State will be playing(and winning) a prestigious bowl game, ND will be lucky to make some the OUTDOOR PONTIAC BROUGHT TO YOU BY SHERATON HAWAII BOWL to play some 6-6 WAC team. Total Dominance LOL

as I said earlier, it's a nice win for the Irish, but let's not stoop to a couple of trolls' level by trashing OSU's victory today....PSU "fucking themselves"?? come on now, sjm, you were cheering the Buckeyes today just like everyone else in the stadium wearing Scarlet and Gray. It was a good day for BOTH teams

    LoL... seriously.

Utah won't be ranked tomorrow. And one word: TULSA!

Don't pick fights you have no business being in.

    ^^^^

Ehhh, let them have their day. They haven't gotten too many of them recently.

On a side note: If they beat Army and finish 6-6 they are likely to replace Big Ten up at Ford Field. How many of the resident Notre Dame fans would plan on going to the game?
