This is the kind of crap that people have to resort to when they don't settle stuff on the field. -

I am impressed with your name calling you go to school for that?
His statement holds zero water Penn St struggled against Temple a MAC team and Minnesota LOST to N Dakota St.
I doubt Temple wins the MAC by the way better look at N Illinois. -
Pick6its the same team. they are going to be better than they were last season.

dlazzTCU has started slow the majority of the season. They would come out and do so-so up until the third quarter and then put away whoever they're playing.
Boise comes out swinging and doesn't look back.
I think I'd give Boise the nod over TCU. -

Same exact crap that put Alabama at preseason #1 which now is clearly nonsense, however Boise St is still undefeated.
Can't wait for those bowl games. -

Last season Boise St was ranked 5th in total offense and this year they are ranked 30th.
Last season Boise St. averaged 47 ppg and this year they average 42.
Do you want me to look up more stats? -

Illinois was ranked 15th in total defense today, yet they gave up 60 something points, most of which came from a backup qb. Stats dont mean a whole lot, wins and losses do -

Wins mean a lot more when the are against quality competition. -
jordo212000The main problem I have with the current setup is that the Big East and ACC are both clearly pretty horrid, but yet because they were magically given the golden ticket 10 years ago, they have been locked into AQ status while they clearly have had no business having that the said status for at least 3-4 years. Get rid of AQ bids. It is a joke at this point. Sure the Big 10, Pac-10, and SEC are better than the MTN West, but I'm not so sure that the ACC/Big East is.

You act like those stats are horrible. Oh my gosh they only average 42 ppg. You clearly missed his point. The team played at an extremely high level last year, and return a ton of starters. He is saying that this team didn't come out of left field and sneak up on people. They haven't lost since 2008. -

This season Boise is averaging 47.7 ppg.
They are fifth in total offense (by yards, they are 2nd in total offense by points)

If you're going to post statistics you might as well get them right. -

We don't always agree on this subject. I'm all about this, however. -

Not only are you stats incorrect, but that is easily explainable by their defense being better, taking the lead more quickly and having to put in the backups sooner. -
Little DannyYou think getting away with AQ bids is going to help teams like Boise or TCU? Not only would it not help those teams it would hurt other teams that are in the second tier of BCS conferences. Get rid of AQ bids and a team like Texas would get the nod for a BCS bowl over say, Oklahoma State simply because they have a larger fan base and more national interest. Notre Dame for sure would be a lock every year. Be careful what you wish for, you might just get it.

MulvaCleveland Buck;547478 wrote:Ok, if you're arbitrarily picking past games to piece together a decent schedule and show how impressive Boise State is, please include these. I'm sure will agree with whatever you come up with.
2005 Georgia 48, Boise State 13
2005 Oregon State 30, Boise State 27
2005 Fresno State 27, Boise State 7
2005 Boston College 27, Boise State 21
2007 Washington 24, Boise State 10
2007 Hawaii 39, Boise State 27
2007 East Carolina 41, Boise State 38
2008 TCU 17, Boise State 16
I wasn't arbitrarily picking anything. I was showcasing examples of why they are a legitimate team and program. The exact question I responded to was "How is Boise legit again? A luck play and a proposal over an overrated Oklahoma team?" The fact that that is even necessary to justify a team that has won 22 straight is absurd, but whatever.
I didn't go back before 2006 because I was using the previous 5 years (2006-2010). And before you even try to pull a bullshit "Wow, how convenient" type of response, notice how I also didn't include 2002-2004, when Boise went a combined 36-3.
I was looking at a 5 year period. Further then that wouldn't make sense to me. It would be like bringing up Florida State results from the early 2000s and claiming they are still a national power because of them.
And I'm sure you were already very aware of this, but 2007 was easily their worst year in the time frame. It was the only season of these past 5 in which they lost over 1 game. They weren't expected to be a great team that year either. They began the year ranked #23, and never climbed above #15. Much like Florida and Texas this year, Oklahoma last year, etc., even legit programs have down years once in a while. 1 time out of 5 is an anomaly. The exception to the rule.
So basically, in the past 5 years, that leaves you with 1 "down" year (still going 10-3), 2 unbeaten seasons, 2 BCS wins, wins over 3 (possibly more after this season) conference champs, and a 1 point loss to an 11-2 TCU team. Congrats, you got me.
And with that, I am really done with this topic. -
Scarlet_BuckeyeI have...
#1 Oregon losing at least one (tough remaining games include: (Arizona & @ Oregon St.)
#2 Auburn losing for sure (Georgia & @ Alabama)
#3 TCU winning out
#4 Boise St. winning out
#5 Utah lost this weekend
# 6 Alabama lost this weekend so everyone else will move up at least two...
new #5 Nebraska (I think) will win out (@ Texas A&M)
new #6 Oklahoma (currently losing to Texas A&M) will lose at least 1 more (@ Baylor & @ Oklahoma St.)
new #7 Wisconsin (I think) wins out (@ Michigan & Northwestern)
new #8 LSU (I think) wins out (@ Arkansas)
new #9 OSU (of course this all assuming OSU wins out -- best care scenario type deal)
....
So that leaves Oregon, Auburn, and Oklahoma all dropping behind OSU. That would move OSU up to...
#1 TCU
#2 Boise St.
#3 Nebraska
#4 Wisconsin
#5 LSU
#6 OSU
I think the polls will rearrange the teams so that LSU and/or Nebraska jumps at least TCU and/or Boise St. -
dazedconfusedso is tcu in with an auburn or oregon loss? there aren't many teams left to jump them anymore
