TCU @ Utah

ytownfootballUtah does nothing thus far to appear worthy of such a lofty ranking.
-
jordo212000TCU is taking them to the woodshed.
-
Cleveland BuckUtah is no better than a .500 team if they played in a real conference.

LOL couldn't be that TCU is just that good............ NAW couldn't be...
Can't wait till bowl time to watch the precious BCS conference teams take a beating. -
gerb131TCU is the best of all the rest of these cupcakes that includes you Boise St.

MulvaUtah beat Pitt (3-0 and leading the Big East) and beat Iowa State (3-2 in the Big 12 and ahead of Nebraska today) by 41 points on the road.
But yeah, no way whatsoever they hang in a "real" conference. -

Keep in mind that the 'joke' of a conference they play in is on track to get AQ status while two of the current "big boys" (ACC and Big East, moreso the Big East) are in danger of losing theirs. But yeah, you're right. If some old guy on a message board in Ohio hasn't seen black and white film of your school from the 50s, you most certainly are a "cupcake" -
Cleveland BuckPitt doesn't play in a real conference either, and just because you beat one .500 team in a real conference doesn't mean you would finish better than that.
-
tk421I would love love love to see TCU play Ohio State, just to prove once and for all if TCU is as good as the ranking and to shut people up.

It probably won't happen, the BCS will find a way to pair them with another non-AQ school so that the general public continues to have no idea how they matchup with the big boys on the big stage.
They do not want to see a repeat of Utah-Alabama -

You're completely right. They could never hang. They couldn't hang with Alabama 2 years ago either. I would have loved to see the two of them play, like in the Sugar Bowl or something... -
gerb131Utah did whip Bama 2 yrs ago but that was 2 yrs ago.

Maybe TCU is that good, but we don't know since they won't schedule anyone. -

Or vicea versa -
Cleveland BuckThis Utah team isn't the same one that beat Alabama. Just like this Boise State team isn't the same one that beat Oklahoma 4 years ago.

LeonardoTCU: 37
Utah: 0
5:33 left in 3rd quarter -

They still played in a not-real conference though, so they should have had no business winning that game against a 12 win team from a real conference.
Your entire argument has been that teams in bad conferences can't possibly be good. So why should the year be relevant? Same school and same garbage conference. -
Cleveland BuckGary Danielson was talking about the non AQ teams and Verne asked him how they could break through. He mentioned Florida State in the early 80s. They showed some of Florida State's schedule in 1981.
at Nebraska
at Ohio State
at Notre Dame
at Pittsburgh
at LSU
vs. Miami (FL)
at Florida
Those first 5 games were all in a row. All on the road. I doubt FSU demanded home games in return. If one of the cupcakes wants to be taken seriously, put together a schedule like that. -

True but playing 1 tough game a year vs 8 or 9 or 10 makes a difference. I think a few SEC teams or BIG10 or BIG12 teams could roll out the scout team and have little trouble in some of these conferences.Mulva;547405 wrote:They still played in a not-real conference though, so they should have had no business winning that game against a 12 win team from a real conference.

MulvaFSU was an independent, and had scheduling flexibility that no conference team has. It was a fail on Gary Danielson's part, like just about everything else that comes out of his mouth.

Please show me the post or posts where I made that argument. I never said the mid majors can't be good or aren't good. I've only argued that we have no way of knowing if they are good. It is my opinion, based on Utah's performance against a substandard schedule, that if they played a real schedule, this Utah team would finish around 6-6 or 7-5. -

Boise still has 4 nonconference games. They could schedule 4 road games in a row against big time programs. No one is going to give them a home game in return, and they shouldn't expect one.
