TCU @ Utah

I've only argued that we have no way of knowing if they are good. It is my opinion, based on Utah's performance against a substandard schedule, that if they played a real schedule, this Utah team would finish around 6-6 or 7-5.

Good thing we have bowl games we will find out if what you say is even remotely close to truth.

Can't wait for the precious BCS conference teams to draw Utah, TCU and Boise St. I guess then we will find out if they can compete or not.

One will get Va Tech so that doesn't count :)

You need revenue to finance athletic programs, and football is the largest revenue generator. Home games are an absolute necessity (unless you are a school that generates no attendance anyways and will get a larger payday by taking an ass-whooping at the hands of a BCS power).

Also, why should nobody give them a home game in return? There are 6 teams with more BCS wins than they have. I'd say there is no more legitimization needed for their program.

How is Boise legit again? A luck play and a proposal over an overrated Oklahoma team?

I forgot about that.:) The Big east and the ACC do not count and according to some people the PAC-10 is weak and so is the Big Ten and Big 12 this year so really only the SEC is a real conference.

Perhaps the SEC championship game should just be the National title winner and call the season there. :)

That last part could have been true in 07 I believe

    Yep, that's it.

Well, I mean there is also the 2 wins over Oregon State, 2 wins over Oregon, win over Virginia Tech, BCS win over TCU, and 2 (with a chance at 3) undefeated seasons in the past 5 years.

But those don't mean shit. Winning doesn't prove anything.

Well, Boise can pretty much forget about a NC game appearance. TCU's SOS is way higher and they may move up in the coaches/harrison polls this week after destroying Utah.

"Well, I mean there is also the 2 wins over Oregon State, 2 wins over Oregon, win over Virginia Tech, BCS win over TCU,"

In other words, what a team in a real conference is supposed to do every year, and still might not make the championship game.

Is TCU this good or is Utah that overrated? ALso, I still think Boise is better than TCU based on Boise beating them last year and returning 21 of 22 starters

All of these teams have the option of going independent in football and playing whoever they want. Both FSU and Miami were independent 25-30 years ago when they were building their programs. These schools make a decision to stay in a weak football conferenence. They have every right to make that decision, but don't complain about the consequences of the decision.

    2006 Oregon State: 10-4
    2006 Oklahoma*: 11-3
    2008 Oregon: 10-3
    2009 Oregon*: 10-3
    2009 TCU*: 12-1
    2010 Virginia Tech: 7-2
    2010 Oregon State: 4-3

    * = conference champs that year. There are 3 of them. That doesn't include Virginia Tech, 5-0 in the ACC this season.

Overall record in games not against Boise State: 64-12 (.842 winning pct)

If winning those games is what a team in a real conference is supposed to do every year, then there are pretty much no teams in college football doing what they are supposed to.

But obviously the haters are just gonna hate, so I'm done debating this.

Give a decent team a month to prepare, anything can happen. Play in a BCS conference week after week...Utah would be a 4 loss team, no question about it. I never ever thought they were a top 10 team.

I don't hate, just don't understand why you expect 7 games in 5 years to be a history.

That, and Oregon State? Come on.

The same VPI team that LOST TO JAMES FREAKING MADISON!!!

I like how certain people come on here and talk about "real" conferences and "real" schedules. To use OSU as an example (because that is the team most on this board are fans of), nobody on their schedule is that much better than anyone TCU or Boise's schedule. The best team on OSU's schedule appears to be Wisconsin and frankly, I don't know if Wisconsin is that much better than Virginia Tech right now to be honest with you. Your next argument would be depth of teams but actually other than Wisconsin and Iowa, is there anybody else on OSU's schedule that is that much better than Boise's or TCU's schedule? I mean Miami is looking to be pretty lame this year (pulled a win out of their arse in the last minute against the juggernaut Maryland squad) and OSU had teams like E. Michigan, Ohio, Marshall, Indiana, Minnesota who would probably lose to TCU and Boise by about 4-5 TDs or more. Penn State, Northwestern and Illinois would likely be double digit dogs against the Broncos and Frogs.

The fact of the matter is the times have changed. There is a lot more parity in CFB with limited scholarships, population shifts have factored into where kids go to school, and the spread offense is a great equalizer for smaller teams against the big state schools who tend to land the bigger, stronger recruits.

Ok, if you're arbitrarily picking past games to piece together a decent schedule and show how impressive Boise State is, please include these. I'm sure will agree with whatever you come up with.

    2005 Georgia 48, Boise State 13
    2005 Oregon State 30, Boise State 27
    2005 Fresno State 27, Boise State 7
    2005 Boston College 27, Boise State 21
    2007 Washington 24, Boise State 10
    2007 Hawaii 39, Boise State 27
    2007 East Carolina 41, Boise State 38
    2008 TCU 17, Boise State 16

Interestingly your list ends in 2008.

Wisconsin and Iowa are easily better than anyone Boise or TCU has played. Miami and Virginia Tech look pretty close, and Miami is playing without Harris. Illinois and Penn State would dominate every team in the WAC outside of Boise. Michigan might too. Indiana went 4-0 through their mid major schedule before going 0-5 in the Big Ten. Hell, on talent alone, Minnesota is better than every team in the WAC except Boise and Nevada.

Thats all the further I needed to read. I realize OSU schedule is nothing great..but that above comment is ridiculous. Wisky, Iowa, Miami, Mich, NW, PSU and Ill right off the top of my head. Give me a break.

Um what year do you think it is? It is 2010 right now, 2006 wasn't exactly yesterday. Again, why do you require black and white film from the glory years before you can take a team seriously?

Last year's results and # of returning players, is that a new BCS formula for determining who is the better team?
