Who would you rather have: Denard Robinson or Taylor Martinez?

Martinez just broke off a NICE TD run against KSU.

    Who would you rather have?

Haven't seen enough of Martinez to pick. Can he throw the ball? I did manage to see that TD run but other than that its been highlights only and everyone looks good in that case.

I LOVE Martinez's game but hard to pick against Robinson. It's a more difficult decision for me than you might think though.

I chose Martinez, only because he has one more year of eligibility haha

Another thing to consider is the offense. Both offenses are similar but it looks like Nebraska has a couple of good running backs getting plenty of touches. Robinson gets around 25 carries a game, twice that of Martinez on average, and throws much more than Martinez does. Even with way less touches Martinez has more rushing TDs than Robinson and a higher average per carry.

    Robinson.

I think he is a better passer.
I do think Indiana has a better defense than KSU.

    I agree.
I disagree. Kansas State has played much better competition and still give up fewer points.

Martinez--better passer, seems more durable...plus he wears a better looking helmet :p
  • Tiernan
If Dick Rod could pick again today knowing everything he knows now...He would still pick Terrelle over Ratard.

Denard. You see Martinez throw that deep pass yesteday? Terribly underthrown, the only reason it went for a touchdown is because the receiver was 10 yards behind anybody.

Denard can at least throw the ball.

same can be said with most of denards throws..its not that hard to hit a wide open reciever

Denard and it really isn't close IMO (I like Martinez a lot though)

    yep.

martinez is nice but lets not forget that he has a bunch more talent around him (especially on defense).

At this point you have to go with Denard over Martinez, once conference play is a few weeks in, it'll be more interesting to see how things shape up.

Denard loves threading the needle with hard thrown passes. Do you watch the games?
  • vball10set
^^^LOL--good one, web  ....we'll see how many needles are threaded tomorrow.

Huh. Sometimes I wonder if you people watch any games if you just like to make dumb comments.

I've watched michigan against indiana, bowling green, uconn, and umass..you are lying to yourself if you dont think a big reason his passing numbers are so good is because the defenses are focused on stopping the run
  • WebFire
I don't believe I said anything about that. I just think you are not giving enough credit for his arm.
  • Hb31187
Lol its not like every pass Denard throws it lobbed to a wide open man, he has a pretty accurate strong arm. Guess I shoudlnt expect an OSU fan with a MSU avatar to agree with that though...

I would be happy with either one quarterbacking my favorite team but right now at this moment if I had to pick I would take Robinson. I think both are about the same passing with Denard a little better runner. Both would suck if they had to throw every down but that's not their game. They're fun to watch.
  • lhslep134
Pick is you don't think Denard is a better passer than Martinez you don't watch college football.
  • centralbucksfan
Denard is a better pass and a little better runner. Easy pic at this point is Robinson. But again, would like to see what both will do vs at least a "good" defense. Which neither has yet to face to date.
  • the_system
I would say Robinson is a slightly better passer, but I think Martinez is the better runner. Robinson has better stats because they have no other option on offense. 30 more carries and 32 more passing attempts through 5 games. Based on average, Martinez would have more yards and double the rushing TDs as Robinson if he had as many carries.

    Rushing

    Denard Robinson
    98 car
    905 yds
    9.2 avg
    8 TD

    Taylor Martinez
    68 car
    737 yds
    10.8 avg
    12 TD

    Passing

    Denard Robinson
    67 cmp
    96 att
    1008 yds
    69.8% cmp
    7 TD
    180.0 rating

    Taylor Martinez
    39 cmp
    64 att
    660 yds
    60.9% cmp
    3 TD
    153.7 rating
