This is true. What is correct and what is perception are two different things. -
LJkiller_ewok;490026 wrote:It goes without saying but ND is independent in football. Big East refs aren't "home" refs IMO. Furthermore, a bad/missed call is what it is. I don't care who fucked it up....all I know is they fucked it up. Just like the phantom block in the back called on ND when receiving the punt near the end of regulation and just like the game tying TD by MSU that should not have counted because the MSU player went out of bounds (unforced) and was the first player to touch the ball as he re-entered the playing field. That's illegal. Now what technicality will you find to rationalize those blown calls?
Anyways, when the play/game clock reads all 0's..........I thought that meant delay of game/end of quarter/half/game. It has in every other instance I've seen in 2+ decades of watching football. Now there are lag times and .99 and all of this other shit. Let it happen to your team. I'm guessing a sizable portion of the fan base would be livid and crying foul.
Big East refs are most certainly ND's home refs as that is who they have contracted. I guess you can whine all you want, but the review today said it was the correct calll.
As for crying foul, I think the fanbase of my favorite team would have been livid over many many many other things way before that call. -
killer_ewok
Just because that's who they have contracted doesn't mean shit. So those officials are above making bad calls because that's who ND has a contract with? Yeah, that's logical. Again, I don't care who fucked up...the bottom line is they fucked up. How about those other 2 missed calls? The Big East make a statement on those?LJ;490092 wrote:Big East refs are most certainly ND's home refs as that is who they have contracted. In regards to your team's fan base.......my point still stands. I'd bet that many of them would have went crazy over missed calls like those. Maybe it will happen to them one day and we'll see what the reaction is. -
LJ
Doesn't mean they are above a bad call, it means that the whole "conspiracy" or "home cookin" argument is extremely laughable. BTW, it wasn't a bad call. I would trust the review team that could stand to lose money by losing an ND contract over a pissed off fan.killer_ewok;490103 wrote:Just because that's who they have contracted doesn't mean shit. ytownfootballI go nuts over blown calls every game, there was one last year that cost us badly (Purdue I think) but Pryor played like crap and quickly reasoned myself out of it.

All I know is bad shit happens in East Lansing at times. See: Clockgate. And the other two blown calls? Still haven't got a response from you regarding those....LJ;490111 wrote:Doesn't mean they are above a bad call, it means that the whole "conspiracy" or "home cookin" argument is extremely laughable. At least you admit it. Put yourself in our shoes. The clock reads all 0's and they're allowed to get a play off. I'm guessing there would be some serious outrage. -
LJ
I didn't see the other 2, so I can;t comment. I just find it funny that ND fans think it's home cookin with their own refs in charge of the clock LOLkiller_ewok;490125 wrote:All I know is bad shit happens in East Lansing at times. karen lotzOSU fans have been complaining about missed calls in games they are winning by 30 points. If it ever gets down to a missed call that costs OSU a game, I can assure you there will be plenty of people on here saying far worse things than what ND fans have said.

I won't if they played like ND played last night. -

Well, former OSU RB Robert Smith isn't an ND fan (as far as I know) and this morning on Sportscenter he said,"That was a little home cookin' there" regarding the play clock on the game-winning TD in OT.
I guess Rob has his tin foil hat on too....... -
karen lotzYou have already said you didn't watch most of the game. How do you know how they played?

i did watch most of the game, I didn't see those 2 plays. I was flipping back and forth between something the woman was watching. But I am pretty sure that 440 yards to MSU isn't very good. -

I think he said last night that he was "drunk" and "didn't care who won anyways." Now he's the Mike Pereira of the NCAA.karen lotz;490134 wrote:You have already said you didn't watch most of the game. How do you know how they played? -

HOW CAN THE "HOME" REFS OF THE VISITING TEAM BE CONSIDERED "HOME COOKIN"!?!?!?!
please, for the love of god, explain it to me. -

I was drunk by the very end of the game. Why do I care who wins? I don't have any stake in either team. I actually enjoy watching ND play. I'm a traditionalist. -

I guess Robert Smith and us ND fans on here are just conspiracy theorists. I don't give a shit who ND has "contracted"........ND is obviously NOT in a conference in football. I don't think the Big East refs are out there feeling obligated to give ND breaks. They fucked up....big time. It's not just ND fans pointing it out. Surely you understand this. And those two calls that you missed were blatant mistakes. -

I guess that's just incredible timing that you didn't see two key plays late in the 4th quarter.LJ;490135 wrote:i did watch most of the game, I didn't see those 2 plays. You're like a brick wall. I didn't say they are trying to give breaks, but they are less likely to give a Big Ten school breaks. If they were Big Ten refs, sure, cry home cookin all you want. But they weren't. so just STFU
Surely you understand this"The responsibility is assigned to the Back Judge, who in this situation was standing beneath the upright. Proper mechanics dictate that his focus be directed to the play clock as it approaches zero. When the play clock display reads zero, he must re-direct his attention to the ball. At that time, if the snap has not started, a flag will be thrown for delay of game. If the snap has begun, no flag will be thrown.
"Under these procedures, there will always be a small amount of lag time between the time the clock reads zero and the time the Back Judge is able to see the football.
"On the play in question, this lag time created the situation where it appears the play clock expired just before the snap. We believe the snap occurred well within the normal lag time for the Back Judge to make this determination.
"This play is not reviewable under current NCAA rules."

I didn't see most of the 4th quarter but saw all of the 2nd and 3rd and most of the 1st. I was able to get the remote back right before OT started. -

If it's just bitter ND fans complaining about it......why did Robert Smith point it out as well? He specifically said "home cookin'."
"So just STFU." Yeah, great response there..... -
