Week 3: Ohio @ Ohio State 12pm Big Ten Network

    Nice run from Herron 43-0
  • Jughead
IF the obvious clip in the first quarter was not called, does it change the complex of the game....it was ignored 2 years ago in the close game which resulted in a touchdown for OSU?

Lesson 1, when playing the Big Ten, forget about the Big Ten refs playing fair. Not saying this game was even close, but how often do teams not get a flag thrown against them?

I thought the away team's conference supplied the refs?

The game was obviously never in question and OSU could have been penalized 47 times and still won by 40. That being said, it is odd that they weren't flagged one time.

    I rest my case :p

OSU's starting D has given up 10 points in 3 games

THis game was never in doubt from the getgo. Was good to see an OSU team come out and take care of business. Not something that other OSU teams in Tressel era have done very often.
I am not so concerned with Pryor INT's...the game was over. OSU obviously lost a little focus along with playing quite a few backups off and on.
The block punt is an obvious concern as special teams continue to be an issue, a BIG one.
The PUNT return doesn't concern me as the guy who as blocked in the back, obviously, was in line to make a play on the returner. That return would have never happened if not for the block in back.
All in all, OSU continues to roll and do what they should be doing.
  • Jughead
I'm not disagreeing with the result of the game, and these were Big Ten officials, but does the obvious block in the back being ignored a few years ago vs. today's called block in the back have any significant result on this game? I feel that it did in 08, not so much today.

If these were MAC officials, the game would still be going right now.

Referee: Dave Witvoet • Umpire: Pat Bayers • Linesman: MichaelMahouski • Line judge: Rick Kruger • Back judge: Mike Brown • Field judge: Bob McElwee • Side judge: Grady Smith • Scorer: Paul Hummel

if anyone can figure out what conference those guys work for
  • karen lotz
According to google, it is a Big Ten crew. Witvoet was the Referee last week in Tuscaloosa. The refs had zero impact on this game.

Big Ten. He worked the PSU/Bama game last week, it looks like.

oops, looks like lotz figured that out 45 minutes ago.

The officiating could not have saved OU. That team today was one of the worst D-1 teams I've ever watched. I feel bad for Solich

Lets hope he doesn't get behind the wheel again after drinking away memory of this game. He's come a long way since Frank the Tank.

Pryor set OSU record today of 16 consecutive completions. He is maturing nicely into an NC - QB.

Not being a hater.....but I just have a feeling that the offense and Pryor expecially will struggle. Don't ask me why...but I just have a feeling for some reason
This couldn't be any further from what actually happened. Nice prediction though!

43-7. Nice, off by 1 point.

I like how one UM fan is wearing a "May the Foricer be with you" shirt. Forcier=3rd team now.

Buckeyes are 3-0 on the spread this year.

He is far from a NC QB right now IMO. He still can't throw a deep ball and his receivers were making great catches on a lot of poorly thrown balls (Dane's 1 handed grab and Posey's leap). He is a lot better than last season, but he still has a way to go. Still throwing into coverage and double coverage. His legs are what makes him so great, once he can throw downfield and get the ball to a WR without them having to make an adjustment, then he'll be a NC QB.

A year ago I thought Jordan Hall was better than both Saine and Herron. I still do. He finds the hole and hits it. Herron looks much better than he did last year, but he still goes down too easily. Saine just lowers his head and runs where the hole is supposed to be whether it is there or not. Hall and Berry need to start taking carries away from Saine and Herron.

I guarantee you would have heard some of the loudest boos you've ever heard in your life if that fumble on that swing pass by Bauserman had been recovered by OU. That decision just wasn't smart football strategy.
A goofy teenager says Tressel should consider the fans when it comes to who plays and what plays are called, when a blowout is in process.

Tressel wanted the 2nd unit to get work in a competitive situation against an opponents 1st unit.

    Not that difficult to comprehend.

The reason you think Hall looks good is because his carries come against lesser teams after they have been beaten down for 3 quarters.

Last week the whiners were complaining because Pryor couldn't throw a short pass, just the deep ball. Now this week we have a whiner who says Pryor can't throw the deep ball.

Give us your long list of all the 3rd year College QBs who ALWAYS threw nothing but perfect passes. NEVER EVER making a receiver reach or jump for a pass.

You are aware that QB's are coached to throw passes that are supposed to make the receiver adjust his route, to take him away from a safety coming to help or away from the defender on one side or the other of a wide out. Coaching a QB to throw to the "back shoulder" of a receiver, purposely makes the receiver adjust his route, turinng him away from the DB defending him and eliminating the possibility of an interception.
  • devil1197
Pryor truly has to work on his short passes though. His long balls have been fine this season, only two come to mind Dane (Marshall) and Posey (Miami). Both were on the money.
