Just read that. Too bad. I hate to see kids get hurt, especially season ending.

^^thats no good!!!! I really thought he played a good game saturday. That will hurt, they are not that deep at the safety position.

They'll be fine. Johnson was gonna be the starter before getting dinged up in camp. He's probably the better player.

    That is correct.

Looking forward to seeing Berry and Hall in the back field in the 2nd half.

The spread for the Buckeyes for this game is -30
  • Tiger2003
I hope they can cover the spread. I am actually excited to watch the Posey brothers go at each other. Wonder how many times they will go up against one another.

I wish I was as confident in Johnson as you are. I do know, however, that Barnett was playing exceptionally well prior to his injury. Judging by his play, there was no indication that he was going to lose his starter spot in the secondary to Johnson in the near future.

Andrew Sweat not likely to play this weekend. Jonathan Newsome will play instead. Sweat's injury not long-term

Why don't they play Sabino and just burn his red-shirt? Frankly I'm surprised they are red-shirting him anyways. I have not been overly impressed with Sweat so far.

If Sabino is behind Sweat in the coaches eyes, it makes no sense not to redshirt him. They won't need him to beat Ohio, the RS will give him two years left, and he'll be able to transition into the MLB role for next year.
Sweat hasn't done anything all that impressive, but he really hasn't been on the field all that much. In the first couple games OSU had the Moeller on the field more times than not, and when he's out there the SAM is off. Other than Wisconsin, I doubt that OSU has the SAM out there for all that many snaps. Moving Sabino to MLB and redshirting him seems like a clear win/win move for OSU and Sabino. For OSU he should be a solid replacement for Rolle next year, for Sabino he'll be playing a position that's on the field much more than the SAM position...

I don't know, I still don't understand what Sabino did to Tressel's wife. He must have banged her or something. The dude has a ton of talent but the coaching staff refuses to put him on the field.

If players can play, Tressel will put them on the field.

Sabino has all the physical tools but once again it looks like he doesn't have the mental capability like Sweat does.

I am going to trust Tressel on this one.

Troy Smith vs. Justin Zwick. enough said.

The "mental capability"? What does that even mean? He plays linebacker he isn't the quarterback
  • ytownfootball
jordo, what the hell are you saying? Honestly, Smith vs. Zwick 'nuff said? WTF

If you don't understand what mental capability is concerning the execution of your assignments on a football field or the mental toughness needed, I doubt you'll have an answer that doesn't, well...suck.

You don't think LB's have assignments and need to have the mental capabilities to stick to those assignments. One blown coverage by an OLB could mean 6 points on the board.

Troy Smith vs. Justin Zwick? I am pretty sure that Tressel made the right choice going with Smith for the long run.

Being a Browns fan all I can say is thank god for the Buckeyes.

Am I the only one whose B10 Network at noon is showing a different game?

I don't see OSU vs OU until Sunday at like 6 pm?

I agree with Jordo on this one. Tressel does have a way of sticking to "his guys" through thick and thin. There are some guys that just can't seem to get out of Tressel's dog house despite being clearly more talented than other guys that are out there. As for Zwick vs Smith, yes Smith eventually won the job long term but Tressel tried to give Zwick every opportunity to succeed. Think about how long it took Smith to unseat Zwick in 2004, despite the fact that it was clear to anyone watching that Smith was the more talented QB. Tressel even tried to give Zwick the opportunity to be the starter again in 2005 after Zwick managed the game well against Miami of Ohio when Smith was suspended and it probably cost them the Texas game. Tressel definitely has his favorites...

I don't think it was that clear to everyone that Smith was better than JZ. Zwick was a big time recruit and everyone (at least all the Buckeye fans) thought he was going to lead is to a national title. Troy was an afterthought and if I remember correctly he was the last played offered a scholarship in his class. Troy didn't really impress me until the Michigan game of his sophomore year and then he got in trouble and was suspended for the bowl game.

Troy was suspended for screwing up bit time. Tress didn't just give him back his starting spot. He made him work for it.

Nothing new to add here: this game will get ugly, fast. 45-3 Ohio State (and probably like 35-0 at the half).

Oh I know where my B10 Network channel is, but what I'm saying is that a different game than Ohio St vs OU is listed as being shown on my guide.

I have Dish Network in the Cleveland/Akron region and it is showing a different game.

Perhaps you never played football? If you did, you sure the hell didn't play linebacker!

Seriously, people were calling for Troy Smith to start after like the Marshall game after Zwick looked horrendous in that game and the season opener vs Cincy. It took like 6 games for Tressel to finally replace Zwick with Smith, who had looked solid in the backup role.

Also, the thing about Troy having to earn his starting spot back is precisely the thing jordo was talking about. It seems certain guys have to do more to get on the field than others with Tressel. This is major college football we are talking about here. If Smith has sat out his suspension, he has already been punished. Why would he have to "earn" his spot back when Zwick didn't exactly look great while he was out? Everyone under the sun knew that Smith was going to be the starter for the rest of the season except for Tressel apparently. Why would he handicap himself in such a big game (unless he actually thought that Zwick would emerge as the starter for the rest of the season)? Why not just say Smith earned his spot back in practice instead, end of story?

Zwick was horrible in the Marshall game, but through two games Troy was 2 for 5 for 29 yards and 1 touchdown. He had also run 6 times for 7 yards. those are hardly solid numbers that would make me want to bench my superstar recruit.

Maybe because he hadn't earned his spot back in practice? He was suspended and he lost his starting position. Zwick led us to a bowl win over Oklahoma State and a win over Miami. Why would you bench him after that? His sophomore year Troy completed 55% of his passes for 896 yards, 8 touchdowns and 3 pics. He also ran for 339 yards and 2 touchdowns. Those are hardly stats that guarantee you a starting spot.

I do agree that once your in the dog house with Tressel you have to work to get out of it, but I don't have a problem with that.
