I'm not sure what to think about this game now. Central is very good and usually comes up big in big games. Whitmer is still a little uncertain and they need to get after it if they have designs on any kind of a tournament run.

Good luck to all the teams in the CL final four from your future league brothers in Fremont.

Central makes a unreal comeback and edges Rogers, 69-68, knocking the Rams out of the final four and putting St. Francis in great shape for the 4th seed. Drew Lehman scored on a tough drive to basket with 11 seconds left for the game winner. Lehman ended up with 30 points. Damond Powell had 30 for Rogers, but turned the ball over with 4 seconds left and the ball on Rogers half of the floor. Powell is the fastest player in NW Ohio and can be an exciting player. But he will not be much of a college prospect with the way he plays (too much emotion, too cocky, laughing at opponents, and sometimes making mental mistakes in the process). Maybe this can be dealt with but it needs to be if he wants to have a chance at the next level. I'm sure some will strongly react to this, but that's my (free) advice.

More evidence that Drew Lehman is one of the top players in NW Ohio......

ross ford - agree 100% with your assessment of Powell. I've seen him get in so many other players faces for apparently no reason and with little provocation. I'm still waiting for someone to cut that little man down when he's putting on his 'tude....frankly I'm shocked that opponents have had enough self control not to knock this cocky little kid out.

SFS still has to beat Clay tonight...so hopefully they aren't taking anything for granted and come to play. I, for one, would love to see a SFS/SJJ rematch next week - the first game into OT was incredibly exciting - hopefully the officiating will be better than the crap that was called (or non-called) in their match up last weekend. Go Frannies - take care of business tonight...

We have all seen players with the characteristics that ross ford81 has described. It's a shame that sometimes kids don't always understand that there has to be a combination of skill and discipline to achieve at the highest levels of any sport. I was very impressed with what the young man from Rogers said to the press after the game. Giving credit to the other team and their coach for wanting the game more and working harder down the stretch, is a real good sign that this young man is going to be fine. Also, kudos to Central for their amazing comeback against pretty steep odds. Those kids just refuse to quit.

    agreed--ice in his veins,just like his papa---but if he's 6'1"....

    He's 6-1.

Heck of a comeback from the Irish against Rogers. Lehman played amazing and the team refused to give up. Coach Welling has installed a great work ethic into the Irish.

It's great to have some momentum heading into the playoffs. Whitmer will be no easy task. CCHS topped Whitmer 60-50 in their first meeting so I'm assuming their semi-final match up will be just as close.

    Go Irish!

    no,he's not...as the sports writer who interviewed him told me,"I'm 5'10,and he's maybe,maybe an inch taller"...do the math,wiz kid ;)

that being said,he's a helluva baller, and a great kid to boot--good luck to the Irish(and all NWO) throughout the tourney.
  • ross ford81
So that makes two people who are wrong, both you and the sports writer. Why even bring up the issue?
  • Swamp Fox
It's not what the measuring tape says anyway...it's how you play the game. Against Rogers the other night I would say that Drew was playing at around 7'.

OK, the truth about Lehman: On Oct. 11th he was six foot and 5/8 inches tall. I honestly don't know if he's grown any since then, but if he didn't it would be fair to list him at 6-1 as I haven't seen too many programs that list players by the eighth of an inch. Next issue.

Drew Lehman can flat out play regardless of how tall he is. He reminds of those old SJ guards like Amhrein and Floyd.

Powell is one amazing athlete. With that said it is unfortunate that coaches allow their players to disgrace themselves and their team.

Unless Whitmer out-talelents CCHS, I see the Irish and SJ in the finals.

Whitmer out talents most teams every night....

I won't be surprised if Whitmer beats Central come Tuesday night. I have not been impressed with the Irish much at all this year outside of the SJ game. They should have lost to both Scott and Rogers. Lehman is the only guy on the team who can consistently score and they have little to no height in the front court. They have won their games and for that I give them credit but I think their luck will run out Tuesday.

SFS-SJ should be another dandy. Knights need to do exactly what they did last time and feed Storm the ball since no one for SJ proved they could slow him down. I doubt the Titans will shoot as poorly from the foul line this time around but after losing to Libbey, who knows how the Titans will respond. Should be a great game with hopefully better officiating than last time around.

How many more weeks will we need to hear about the officiating?

The Irish looked pretty good against the frannies too ;)

Central's tallest guy is 6'4" compared to the Knights 6'11" Storm Stanley. How'd the Irish do against him? Well the kid was shut down by the Irish. The Irish have proved this season that height isn't everything.

I give Central credit for winning games with no size and basically no post scoring at all. They are riding Lehman which they should do, but they have not looked good at all against Scott and Rogers this week and are lucky to have escaped with wins in both. Nothing against Central since I don't think Whitmer is all that great either (no one is the city is great this year). I just think Whitmer will win Tuesday, that is all.

LOL--because it's so easy to bait ITG's like you :D
  • hookshot
    "Baiting" isn't that like "lying"?

not that I'm aware of--and you were educated where?

btw, ross ford81,the sportswriter who disputed Drew's height called Start's head coach "Black"(his name is Brown)in his column today,so you're correct--one of us was wrong ;)
  • hookshot
vball10set, you really want to compare education levels?

I expect Whitmer to keep a guy glued to Lehman which will shut down their offense.Whitmer has many sources of offense and they are playing much better now.
I would like to see a St. Francis,Whitmer final.
